In fast-growing industries, demand often outpaces standards — and consumers are left to sort out what’s credible, what’s safe, and what’s simply well-marketed. In this episode of Business Talk with Meghan McNulty, Meghan speaks with Jillian Goldney, MSN, FNP-C, DCNP, a dual board-certified dermatology and family nurse practitioner, about how that tension plays out in healthcare — and what business owners in any industry can learn from it

Drawing from real-world practice, the conversation examines:

 What happens when hype replaces expertise

 Why short-term wins can create long-term risk

 How to evaluate providers, partners, and services beyond surface-level credibility

 The importance of knowing limits — and staying within them — as businesses scale

While the examples come from a fast-growing professional field, the lessons apply broadly to founders, operators, and advisors navigating complex choices in any industry.

A practical discussion about judgment, responsibility, and why doing things the right way still matters when everything is moving fast.

About Meghan’s Guest

Jillian is a dual board-certified Dermatology and Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 12 years of experience caring for patients in Arizona. She began her career in urgent care and emergency medicine before receiving training in general and surgical dermatology at a large practice and teaching facility. She now practices with Evernorth Care Group Dermatology and serves as a Preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students at Grand Canyon University. Jillian is licensed in Arizona, holds certifications from leading national boards, and maintains affiliations with multiple professional organizations, including the Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners and the International Dermoscopy Society.

In this episode of Business Talk with Meghan McNulty, Meghan sits down with Joe Mitchell—elected to the Iowa House at just 21, becoming the youngest state representative in Iowa history. Now a housing developer and founder of Run Gen Z, Joe is campaigning for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd District. He shares why he believes a new generation needs to step into national leadership, and what he’s hearing most from voters across Northeast Iowa: affordability, attainable housing, and protecting agriculture.

Drawing on his experience in state government and housing, Joe outlines a “common sense” approach to cutting red tape, revisiting outdated regulations, and increasing the supply of workforce housing. Meghan also zooms out to explore how federal agencies and regulatory decisions shape day-to-day business operations—and what accountability could look like in Washington.

In this episode, Meghan and Joe also discuss:

 How policy decisions directly affect affordability, housing markets, and long-term wealth building

 Why regulation matters to business owners long before it shows up on a balance sheet

 The role of advocacy in protecting growth, capital, and enterprise value

 How leadership and decision-making differ when you’ve built businesses—not just careers in politics

 What professionals should watch as legislation shapes opportunity across industries

Ultimately, this conversation underscores why staying informed about policy isn’t optional for business owners and professionals, it’s part of long-term planning. From housing and workforce dynamics to regulatory oversight and advocacy, Meghan and Joe highlight how decisions made far from the boardroom can meaningfully shape opportunity, risk, and value creation. It’s a timely reminder that leadership today requires not just reacting to change but understanding how it’s formed—and where it’s headed.

About Meghan’s Guest

Joe Mitchell is an Iowa lawmaker, housing developer, and founder of Run Gen Z. He made history at age 21 as the youngest person ever elected to the Iowa House of Representatives, where he served on key committees focused on fiscal and economic policy. Following his legislative service, Joe worked at the federal level with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Federal Housing Finance Agency, gaining firsthand experience with housing policy and regulation. He is also the founder of Run Gen Z, a nonprofit that has helped recruit and mentor hundreds of young candidates to run for public office nationwide. Joe is currently campaigning for Congress in Iowa’s 2nd District, bringing a business-informed perspective to issues of affordability, housing, and regulation.

Meghan sits down with Nicholas Prytherch—a seasoned lobbyist who’s worked across local, state, and federal levels—to demystify how policy gets made and how smart companies protect their interests. Nick explains the mechanics of lobbying (who does it, when you need it, and what it costs), the real differences between local, state, and federal engagement, and why education before legislation keeps knee-jerk rules from hurting jobs and growth. He shares playbook moves any operator can use: spotting bills early, building the right coalition, framing “unintended consequences,” and turning complexity inside the Capitol into clear actions for your business. Whether you run a single location or a multi-site operation, this is a practical primer on getting a seat at the table—without hiring a Fortune 100-sized team.

What You’ll Learn
 When to engage: issue triggers, timelines, and red flags
 Where to engage: local vs. state vs. federal (and why state often matters most)
 How to engage: coalition building, message discipline, and cost-smart options
 Measuring impact: what success looks like beyond a single bill

Ultimately, Nick makes it clear that lobbying isn’t about backroom deals—it’s about ensuring lawmakers understand the real-world impact of their decisions. In today’s environment, industries built on innovation—especially in healthcare—are advancing faster than most policymakers can follow. That gap creates both risks and opportunities: without advocacy, knee-jerk rules can stall progress, but with the right strategy, anyone—from an individual professional to a multinational conglomerate—can have a voice in shaping policy. Done right, lobbying protects innovation, safeguards jobs, and creates the conditions for sustainable growth.

About Meghan’s Guest
Nicholas Prytherch serves on the Advisory Board of the Medical Aesthetics Advocacy Council (MAAC), where he brings deep connections in Washington, D.C., to help members gain direct access to key policymakers and legislators. In addition to his advisory role, Nicholas is President of Mid Pacific Management, where he oversees a revenue portfolio of more than $400 million. His expertise spans strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and business development—experience that enables him to guide businesses through complex regulatory landscapes. Nicholas holds an MBA from the University of La Verne and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership at USC.
.
As part of the Advisory Team at MAAC, Nicholas is advocating on behalf of med spa owners, clinicians, and emerging wellness businesses to ensure they have a seat at the table as new regulations take shape. Whether you’re running a single location, testing new technology, or managing a multi-site group, MAAC delivers the kind of lobbying protection usually reserved for large corporations—yet at a membership-level expense.

In this episode of Business Talk, Meghan McNulty sits down with entrepreneur and men’s leadership coach Bart Morse, founder of The Lion’s Den, to explore a challenge many business owners face: being at the top of their game in business while feeling less effective in other areas. Bart shares how his own journey through marriage, separation, and business success revealed an overlooked truth — the skills that help you build a thriving company don’t always translate outside the office. And when that gap goes unaddressed, it can affect your focus, decision-making, and even long-term business growth.

They discuss:
 How to apply your best leadership skills beyond your business
 Why relationship and personal challenges can spill over into professional performance
 The Behavior Quadrant: a clear framework for staying principle-driven under pressure
 The PAID² Method: a step-by-step approach for navigating high-stakes conversations
 How “nice guy” tendencies quietly erode trust — in partnerships and in business Bart also explains why many high-performing men wait too long to address these patterns — and how The Lion’s Den equips business owners with the same clarity, structure, and support they rely on at work to strengthen their effectiveness in every arena.

If you run a business, employ a team, or lead in your community, this conversation will give you tools to create alignment, improve communication, and protect what matters most — on and off the clock.

About Meghan’s Guest
Bart Morse is the founder of The Lion’s Den Program, a coaching platform that equips men to lead with confidence and purpose in both business and life. With more than two decades of consulting experience, Bart has advised C-Suite leaders and executives at organizations including Microsoft, T-Mobile, Pacific Life Insurance, and The Academy of Motion Pictures. He is the creator of the Behavior Quadrant, a practical framework for leading with intention rather than reaction and has a proven record of guiding high
performers toward greater alignment and impact.

In this episode of Business Talk, Meghan McNulty sits down with Kendahl Kenson of the Medical Aesthetics Advocacy Council (MAAC) to explore the increasing legislative pressures on med spas — and why compliance alone isn't enough.

They discuss:
 What MAAC does — and how it differs from compliance or education groups
 Why new laws appear almost every month that could reshape who can treat, supervise, or even own a med spa
 What lobbying really involves — and why small providers shouldn’t ignore it
 Who should join MAAC (hint: it’s more than just physicians)
 How MAAC provides a seat at the table — not just another newsletter

Whether you're a physician, medical spa owner, or investor, the future of your business depends more than service and results — it hinges on how laws are shaped and enforced. Kendahl explains how MAAC fills the gap where compliance manuals stop: monitoring legislation in all 50 states, appearing in hearings, and building critical advocacy infrastructure for this fast-growing industry.

If your license, livelihood, or investment is tied to aesthetics, this episode offers insight and an important invitation: join the conversation before the rules shift.

In this episode of Business Talk with Meghan McNulty, she speaks with Brian McNulty, former CEO and seasoned advisor to business owners, for a candid conversation on the risks many entrepreneurs overlook — and strategies that can protect their wealth. beyond the business.

They explore:
 Why business owners often concentrate too much wealth inside the company or in real estate
 How shifting from earned income to passive income opens up new freedom and flexibility
 Why formal, written succession and transition plans are essential to protecting both business value and personal wealth
 The critical need for integrating legal, financial, and operational plans into a cohesive strategy.

Key Takeaways:
 Business success ≠ personal financial security — Without careful planning, your personal wealth can be overly exposed to business risks.
 Passive income is key — Building income streams outside the business creates more options and freedom.
 Liquidity matters — Real estate-heavy wealth can create cash flow challenges when you need to transition or pass assets.
 A written plan protects everyone — Succession and exit plans need to be more than just ideas — they need to be documented, coordinated, and actionable.

What does it take to unseat an eight-year incumbent as one of the youngest women ever elected to the South Dakota State Senate? Amber Hulse shares her path—from growing up on a ranch in a veteran family, to Georgetown Law, to becoming a freshman legislator—and how her early commitment to service shaped everything that followed.

In this episode, host Meghan McNulty speaks with Amber about what prepared her to lead, how she developed a compelling message, and why diverse voices—especially young women—belong at every decision-making table. Amber reflects on the challenges of fundraising, navigating criticism as a young, unmarried woman, and the real issues she’s working on, including property tax reform and election integrity.

A Georgetown Law grad and former Miss South Dakota and Miss South Dakota USA, Amber opens up about balancing her legal career, public service, and a life in the spotlight—all while staying grounded in her mission. Whether you’re building a business, interested in legislative journeys, or just learning to trust your gut, Amber’s story offers inspiration and practical applications for business owners and emerging
leaders.

Key Takeaways
You don’t need a legacy to lead.
Amber didn’t come from a political family—and she didn’t wait for permission to step up. Her story reminds us that if you see a gap in leadership, you can be the one to fill it, even without traditional credentials or a well-known name.
The power of clear messaging.
Amber credits much of her campaign success to refining her “why.” Whether you’re pitching investors or selling a service, a sharp, compelling message makes all the difference in gaining support.
Preparation beats perception.
As a young candidate running against an incumbent, Amber faced doubts—but her deep prep, internships, and legal experience earned her respect.
Diverse perspectives drive better outcomes.
Amber highlights the importance of generational, gender, and professional diversity in decision-making. Fresh perspectives often lead to smarter, more innovative solutions.
Burnout is real—balance matters.
Despite her full plate, Amber is honest about the mental toll of juggling public service, law, and life. Her reminder to stay grounded, prioritize values, and not tie your identity to a title is advice every founder or leader should hear.

This conversation is a must-listen for emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, and anyone who’s ever been told they’re “not ready.” Amber didn’t wait her turn—and her story may spark the next step in yours.

About Meghan’s Guest
State Senator Amber Hulse is a rising Republican leader and currently serving as one of the youngest legislators in the country as a State Senator in South Dakota. Raised on a hunting ranch in Hot Springs, her dedication to service was deeply influenced by her father, a 100% disabled Vietnam veteran.

Amber graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Dakota and earned her law degree from Georgetown, where she served as President of the Federalist Society. Her political experience includes positions with the White House, U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, and state and federal offices across the country.

She’s also one of only four women to hold both the Miss South Dakota and Miss South Dakota USA titles.

Currently, Amber is with Dhillon Law Group and is the youngest Republican woman ever elected to South Dakota’s State Senate. She’s passionate about empowering conservative women and bringing fresh leadership to public service.
