Sports have been put on a temporary hiatus as the NBA, NHL, and NCAA have each indefinitely halted the season - and the MLB has pushed back its season by at least two weeks. But we still find plenty to talk about regarding how these postponements and suspensions will impact the sports world. We also share some drinking stories and preview some of what's to come during NFL free agency which is currently still on track to begin Monday March 16.

S2:E3 – Yelich extends, Lindor in Limbo

Christian Yelich signs a 9-year, $215 million contract - what does that mean for soon-to-be free agent Fransisco Lindor? We also discuss how the median percentage for the 2019 MLB playoff teams of how much payroll vs. revenue (payroll/revenue) was 44%. The Indians have a $40 million window before they reach that 44% median mark - so the money to extend Lindor is there.

Also get into some NBA talk as the season winds down and consider debates of LeBron vs. Giannis for MVP and Zion vs. Za Morant for Rookie of the Year.

Season 2 of Call on the Field Stands kicks off with the boys crushing the MLB and its Commissioner Rob Manfred for some of the recent proposed changes to the rules and structure of the league. And we also address so actual changes that if implemented correctly could actually positively benefit the game.

We also briefly recap week 1 of the XFL and examine the possibility of the NFL one day getting involved in the league.

This Super Bowl has it all and should shape up to be a great game! And of course we wrap it all by giving our predictions.

S1:E18 – MLB Hall, Super Bowl Call, and Zion to Ball

For this week's episode - Jeff and Ryan kick off the podcast by diving into a conversation surrounding Major League Baseball's recent 2020 Hall of Fame induction announcement that includes just two players entering Cooperstown in Derek Jeter and Larry Walker. Two very different paths to the Hall with Jeter missing out on becoming just the second ever first ballot Hall of Famer to receive a 100% unanimous ballot by just one vote, and Walker receiving just enough votes to make it in on his 10th an final opportunity appearing on the ballot. We also discuss a few names that were left out once again, including Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and Curt Schilling - as well as former Indians great Omar Vizquel who made a significant leap in vote percentages this year.

The boys also discuss the NFL Conference Championship games from last weekend and debate who is the NBA's midseason MVP and if rookie Zion Williamson, who made his NBA debut shortly after recording this episode, can push Ja Morant for Rookie of the Year honors at the end of the season.

S1:E17 – Controversy Galore

Call on Field Stands is back after an extended holiday/New Year break with conversation about several controversies hitting plaguing the sports world. We talk about the accusations and law suit from former Penn State football player Isaiah Humphries against Penn State claiming he was hazed. He states in the suit that former teammates sexually harassed and hazed him grabbing his genitals and contacting him with their genitals, and saying they were going to "Sandusky: him. He also claims that at least one former teammate threatened his life. Jeff and Ryan give their thoughts on what punishment Penn State should receive if these claims are proven true.

The MLB has also been hit with controversy by way of a cheating and sign stealing scheme that the Houston Astros during their 2017 World Series run. Then-Astros bench coach Alex Cora has been accused of taking the sign-stealing strategies to the Boston Red Sox the following year when he was named manager and the Red Sox won the World Series. Some punishments have already been awarded to the Astros with likely penalties to come for the Red Sox. We discuss these on these on the podcast as well and debate whether they were harsh enough.

We also look ahead to this weekends NFL Conference Championship matchups and pick our winners.
