“Why am I like this? Where did I come from? Why can’t any of these Minnesotans properly cut and style my curly hair?!”

This barely brushes the surface when it comes to an adoptee making their way through life.

There are few resources for people like Erika & Resa, so they created their own.

Initially as co-workers, they discovered they were from the same orphanage in Bogota, Colombia.

Despite the similarity, they have very different stories, and have become like sisters through this connection to their roots.
They will interview family, friends, each other, and dive into the psychological impact of adoption from all angles.
Any and all questions are welcome, as the hosts will teach their audience how to appropriately practice this conversation in the future.

TW: Mentions of sexual assault in this episode
Today we interview Michelle-- the voice and adoptee behind Baby Be Brave. We connected with her on Instagram initially and have supported each other's work through the platform.
Now we finally get to sit down and talk with Michelle about her journey as a Romanian adoptee.
She has gone through a tumultuous healing journey as the answers she was seeking for so long kept throwing her a curveball.
Now through Baby Be Brave, she supports other adoptees through her conversations, her campaign for Adoptee Awareness Day, and supporting National Adoption Awareness Month alongside the adoptee community.

Today we talk to Mike about his experience to becoming a US Citizen much later in life than typical adoptees. Unbeknownst to him, he lived most of his life as an illegal alien in the States. Through some typical processes in life, he found out that he was not a legal citizen and his citizenship was never processed.
His journey is unlike any we have heard before, and we didn't realize how common this issue actually is. Mike has gone through so much with lawyers, the possibility of being deported, and the emotional trauma of his adoption being brought back to the surface.

Since we have known Mike, we have seen the emotional process he has been through, as well how long the process to become a citizen has taken.
Luckily, as of April 28, 2022, Mike is a legal citizen of the United States!

Welcome to season 3, with Colombian Influence! This season we will be focusing more on our personal journeys through adoption.

In this interview, we spoke with Erika's adoptive brother Dylan. He is a biological child/son of Erika's adoptive parents, which is common dynamic adoptees face. This is a new perspective we were fascinated to dive deeper into. We were both surprised by the parallels in conversation when outsiders inquire about adoption.

In tribute to Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are joined by Brad Rutter for our interview today.
Brad is an Asian-American, Korean, transracial adoptee who was raised in Wisconsin.
His exploration of Korean culture both independently and with the help of his parents and adopted siblings has helped his identity as an Asian-American become stronger over the course of his life.

Join us while we discuss the importance of immersion into culture, and the positive effects this can have for transracial adoptees.

Today we discuss Kate's experience adopting her two sons from Haiti. This summer, after the murder of George Floyd, she took her kids to see the memorial and decided right then and there that her Black sons needed to grow up in a community that wasn't completely whitewashed.

Before we even spoke, Kate informed us that she wanted to discuss her feelings of guilt surrounding how she went about adoption, and how these issues are being silenced.
"These are orphans of poverty."

The Savior Complex is a toxic element that can harm adoptees, and we find it incredibly important to shed a light on this topic.

We're BACK!! It's been a minute, but we're not done educating the world on all that adoptees go through.
Today's episode we will be discussing "Coming out of the Fog." This is a common phenomenon adoptees go through when discovering their identity at some point in their life. It's an incredibly valuable moment for adoptees, and we believe that this time comes in a variety of times and ways.

We will be referring to the book "Primal Wound" which is commonly described as the Adoptee Bible. (This is definitely a must-read for any other adoptees, it's been incredibly beneficial!)

This is our first adoptive couple we've had a chance to interview, and it was such an honor to do so with them just a few days before Mackenzie's adoption was finalized on June 8th, 2020.
Today we discussed their journey with finding adoption, the story that made their story famous, Resa & Erika's point of view as adoptees, and any hopes/concerns/thoughts for the future as Mackenzie grows up.

This episode is dedicated to Mackenzie, and we truly hope to be a constant support for her growing up as she navigates every aspect of being an adoptee. Dustin & Caren, we will be here every step of the way. Thank you so much for letting us into your lives.

We had such a great time talking with our friend Ellie. She was one of our coworkers that made us a department where adoptees were no longer the severe minority! (A small victory for us.)
Ellie's story began in the south, and she has made her way up to Minnesota.
Her story is very non-traditional, and we learned about how her family evolved through hardship and she was adopted through what initially was called "a managing conservatorship."
Next week we talk to her husband about his traditional adoption, and what that's meant for their relationship.
