On this episode, Jess & Alex sip on some "Smoking Guns" while they talk of Fort Wayne, not the one in Indiana though, the actual Fort in the Delray neighborhood of Detroit. The Fort has had many uses since being constructed in 1851, (everything from an active fort, to housing individuals who lost homes during the Great Depression and after the '67 riots, to hosting the first ride on lawn mower, and housing Prisoners of War during WWII.) He reveals the history of its construction as part of a plan to break world records (but only held the title for a short time.) Almost 1200 feet beneath Detroit/Metro-Detroit's surface are the Detroit Salt Mines; miles upon mines of tunnels where workers extract salt in the consistent 60 degree tunnels year round. The mines themselves have changed hands quite a few times during the past 100 years and are no longer open for public tours today.
