Episode Notes

This week I have the pleasure of bringing you Erich and David of FlowGardens, a Tennessee based company that is cultivating the widest variety and highest quality smokeable "hemp flower" I've ever come across. I use quotes because calling this hemp does not do it justice...this is potent, high quality cannabis. The flower they're growing is rich with terpenes, flavonoids, phytocannabinoids and all checks in under 0.3% THC. Best of all, it's all perfectly legal under the 2018 Farm Bill that allowed for "hemp" production and can be derived right to your home.

We discuss:

Tennessee laws, education and activism

Cultivation practices - hydroponic vs soil

Hunting for unique and quality phenotypes

Exploring lesser known cannabinoids like CBC and CBG

Runaway THC levels and the importance of cannabinoid balance

This was easily one of the more fun interviews I've ever done. Juliana is an absolute delight. Her energy and determination are a breath of fresh air and the cannabis industry is lucky to have her influence. We touch a wide array of topics including:

Juliana's cannabis beginnings working at a dispensary in Las Vegas

Getting her MBA

Her history with entrepreneurship

Leafsheets and Cann Strategy

That Adopted Girl - Her non-profit for foster kids

Psychedelics

We cover a ton of ground and laugh the whole way through. I'm sure you'll end up as enthralled with Juliana as I am.

It is my honor to welcome Christina back onto the show for the third time. She's a serial entrepreneur, founding several different companies and non-profits, many of which directly contribute to furthering our knowledge about and access to medical cannabis. In this episode we discuss the under appreciated health benefits of terpenes, cannabinoids that help with Covid, and DiArc gives a solid overview of the many processes involved with conducting clinical research. Lots to learn here folks. Whenever Christina is around it's going to be fun!

Scott is a serial entrepreneur with a creative mind and a soulful demeanor. He started his latest company ZIPPZ a few years after exiting his last company when anxiety and restlessness began to set in as it does for so many lifelong entrepreneurs. A buddy suggested he try cannabis to ease the anxiety and he was appalled by his dispensary experience and set out to solve a very significant problem within the medical cannabis industry. So ZIPPZ was born.

By teaming up with experts across a few different fields, he was able to create a very unique product that blends traditional botanicals with cannabinoids. After trying ZIPPZ myself for sleep, I’m a fan.

Episode Notes

Adam Bierman is a man that needs little introduction if you've been paying attention to the cannabis industry over the last decade. As the founder and CEO of Med Men, Adam and his company were the first to accomplish many feats in the world of cannabis, including the first billion dollar valuation in the industry. He's since left Med Men, but is still very involved in all things cannabis and continues to push the limits of what's possible in this space.

I feel honored that Adam took the time to sit down with me and candidly share his experience as the tip of the spear of a new industry, constantly pushing boundaries and taking his share of heat along the way. He was also extremely humble and forthcoming about his thoughts on the controversy that seemed to follow him everywhere he went.

Adam's a bold business man, unafraid to speak his mind and potentially make folks uncomfortable in order to bring his vision to fruition. At the same time, he's clearly a dedicated father and husband, committed to his and his family's wellness. I, for one, cannot wait to see what he brings to the industry next.

Dr. Hill is back again sharing his great wisdom and experience. This time we go deeper into some of the psychological conditions that he’s seen improve with medical cannabis. He’s also careful to shine a light on the things that don’t have enough research behind them yet and some of the adverse effects that people sometimes experience. That’s right…cannabis addiction is very real for a small percentage of the population. Cannabis medicine, like everything, has both good and bad qualities and Dr. Hill does not shy away from this fact.

I have great admiration for Vanessa’s courage to fight against the stigma attached to cannabis and work with parents to find cannabinoid remedies for their children. This is big work! From autism to seizures to ADHD, cannabis is proving to be an effective treatment for kids and Vanessa is sure a trailblazer in this field. This was a fantastic conversation and you’ll definitely be inspired by the stories of healing Vanessa shares.

Ben’s company Celibre has developed a technology for creating raw cannabinoids without growing cannabis plants. Sounds crazy, but it’s a very sane process they call Cellular Agriculture and I think it will change everything. As a grower, myself, I tried to remain skeptical but the tech was just too incredible for me to not be won over by the possibilities. More consistency, less expensive, less possibility for losing parts of or entire harvests…I’m a believer.

Ann is a passionate and brilliant researcher who, like most of us, was blown away when she learned about the endocannabinoid system (ECS). She spent her entire career researching and educating about the human body and didn’t even know about the ECS until fairly recently. We go deep into how the ECS functions and what role it plays in our health and healing. This is Part 1 of an amazing interview.

Episode Notes

Mark’s company, Hemp Synergistics has developed and entirely new way to transform crude, full spectrum CBD oil into a tasteless, low volume - high potency powder perfect for combining formulations in capsules or for use in baking. This is innovation at it’s finest and can truly change the cannabinoid formulation game. Plus, Mark is a great guy who brings tons of knowledge and experience from the sports performance/nutraceutical world into the cannabis industry. This was a really fun conversation where I learned and laughed a lot…so will you!

Episode Notes

Nickson is a beautiful, thoughtful and compassionate individual. I left this interview deeply moved with a strong feeling of hope for our future. Nickson’s story of discovering the powerful medical benefits of cannabis by treating his son’s eczema and a family friend’s cancer is so inspiring. But he didn’t stop there, he became the care-giver for 50 others! His compassion reaches beyond the patients he’s helped and into the board rooms of cannabis corporations, advocating for more diversity in corporate leadership specifically around proper representation from the communities most affected by the flawed and failed War on Drugs. I hope you’re as moved and inspired by his message as I am.

Dr. Harry is amazing, a true pioneer in the Western use of plant medicines. He’s the rare physician that is trained and certified as a Medical Doctor, but also trained in traditional Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture and ancient Indian Ayurveda. It’s an experiential East meets West combination that offers an extremely unique skillset to apply to cannabis medicine. Dr. Harry has so much to offer and we only scratched the surface in this interview. Makes sure to listen to this one and look out for a Part 2 coming in the near future.
