One of the best things about traveling to Spain is enjoying its rich and diverse culinary scene. A popular option for tourists and locals alike is the Menu del Dia, a fixed-price meal that typically includes several courses and a beverage. This guide will provide you with all the information you need to know about Menu del Dia, from its history to how to order.

The Menu del Dia started in the 1960s as a way for Spanish workers to have a cheap, well-balanced meal at lunchtime. A law passed in 1965 required many restaurants in Spain to have a menu del dia. The rule set standards and prices for the midday meal to help workers.

The Menu del Dia, or "menu of the day," is what restaurants in Spain serve for lunch (la comida). The Menu del Dia is the most affordable way to eat in Spain. This meal is a good size, and you only have to pay one price for the whole thing. It usually consists of soup or salad, bread, a main dish with a side dish, dessert, and coffee. Wine or water is included. Most of the time, you'll have at least two-course options to choose from.

Some are more traditional, some experiment with mixing styles, and some take us to another culture. These are some of the best menus of the day we've found in Valencia. Prices range from 12 to 25 euros, depending on your preference.

Since most people in Valencia live in apartments and don't have private gardens, this makes it very important for dogs to have access to public parks and spaces.

Valencia has a lot of gardens, like the Plant Nurseries, the Botanical Garden, and the Turia Gardens, a large green space with over 50 kilometers of trails connecting the natural Turia Gardens. They're perfect for walking your dog.

Small pets are allowed on public transportation. Only guide dogs and small dogs weighing less than 10 kg are allowed on buses, trains, metro, and tram benches. There are notable beaches for dogs in Valencia. A beach where dogs can swim is in Pinedo, just south of Valencia's port. Also, north of Valencia, at Portsaplaya, there's a beach where your dog can run and swim without restrictions.

Getting food for a meal and making it are not just chores but essential parts of the day. So, when it comes to food shopping, you have many options, from stores that are easy on the wallet to supermarkets and convenience stores. There are a lot of different places to shop in Spain, and you can always find a good deal. Shopping in Valencia, Spain's third largest city is an exciting adventure where big stores, supermarkets, indoor markets, weekly outdoor markets, car boot sales, local shops, and mini markets are open 24 hours a day. But when you go grocery shopping in Valencia, Spain, you'll notice that it's different from what you're used to. This is especially true if you're moving to Spain from the United States or another country outside of Europe. Knowing which grocery stores to visit and how things work in your area can be tricky. So that you don't go hungry, we'll tell you what we've learned and how to shop for food in Spain. This will be useful in every way when you go grocery shopping in Spain. ▶️ In today’s video we have talked about the following things: • Know the Spanish and Valèncian names for Market, Supermarket, and Convenience store • The hours of operation for each vary • Supermercados and Mercats are closed on Sunday • Contactless Payment are available in Valencia • Shop at the Mercat to experience Valencia at its fullest • Phrases to watch out for… • When there are people gathered in front of a tienda, it means there’s a queue • Don’t touch the produce at the Mercat • At the Mercat, the seafood is closed on Monday • Most locals don’t buy seafood on Mondays either • What are the main supermercados? • Canned food, what’s good? • Chicken comes in 2 varieties • They sell almost every part of the animal here • Bread is freshly baked and there are bread cutters available • Potato chips don’t have a lot of varieties • Freshly squeezed orange juice is available everywhere • Coffee won’t have a lot of variety. If you like hazelnut, try our favorite coffee • You can take cans or bottles out of packs • Alcohol is cheap and very good, world class even • A Carro de la compra makes grocery shopping easier • Leave your bags at the door before entering another supermercado • Bring a euro coin with you to deposit your bags • They don’t sell medicine in grocery stores • The cooked food at the markets is good too • You can reheat and eat the cooked food at Mercadona • Jamon is freshly cut from almost everywhere it’s sold • Asian groceries are abundant in one area • The differences between carniceria, pescaderia, polleria, panaderia & pastelleria • Electronic waste can be disposed of at some supermercados

Bike rental: * Valencia’s city bike rental program is called Valenbisi.

Private Bike Rental - In Valencia, there are a lot of bike rental shops where you can rent a bike for a few hours to a few days.

Bike lanes explained: * Bike paths can either be a separate lane on the “normal” street, usually color red, or a painted bike lane on the sidewalk. * The cycle paths (including the Turia) are narrow and almost always two-way (also in the Turia Park). So be aware and try to cycle in one line, don’t bike side to side * Ciclocalles are special bicycle streets where you share the road with cars. * If there are no red bike paths or bicycle streets. Then always cycle on the right lane, unless this is a bus lane. * Map apps will show you two different routes when using public vs private bikes
Bike rules: * You cannot use headphones or a cellphone while on your bike at any time. The use of headphones/ears or a mobile phone on a bicycle is prohibited! * The maximum speed allowed on a bike lane is 15 km/h (9 miles/hr) (if it is a bike lane on the sidewalk) or 20 km/h (12 miles/hr) (if it is a dedicated lane on the road). * You must be visible at all times, so at night you must use approved lights at the front and rear of the bike. * It is illegal to cycle on the pavement, the bus/taxi track (EMT) or cycling in tunnels. * Children under the age of 16 must wear a helmet. * Children under 7 (or until they physically fit, generally around 20kg) must travel on a child bike seat, and the bike must be driven by someone over the age of 18. * You can carry pets with you on a bike.
Biking etiquette: * Using hand signals is key. * Always be aware of traffic lights and pedestrians are the number one priority. * Always be on the lookout for pedestrians.
No bike lanes: * If the bicycle path ends you are supposed to cycle on the road. Be careful while doing this because driving on a normal road can be dangerous. * Biking on a bus-exclusive lane is not allowed. You will find these bus-only lanes marked as “EMT” on the road floor. * When you are biking on the road, you are only allowed to go in the same direction as the rest of the vehicles. * If you are not going in the right direction on a one-way road, step off your bike and walk with your bike until you are able to reach the correct direction.
Pedestrian lanes: * You can only bike in pedestrian areas if the width of the street is more than 3 meters or 10 feet. * Make sure you leave at least 1.5 meters (5 feet) distance from pedestrians at all times. * Keep your speed under 10 km/h (6 miles/hr)
Parking your bike: * The bikes can only be attached to the designated metal brackets available on the street. * Parking your bike on the street that is locked to a tree or lamppost is illegal. * Bikes cannot be attached to another bike and loose on the street.

When saying the date in Spanish, the day precedes the month. • Bike lanes are everywhere and if there are no bike lanes, you bike on the street (You can’t bike where there are people) • Yellow means stop. • Master the Important phrases such as Buenas, Hasta luego, Tienes, cuanto cuesta, La Cuentapor favor, gracias, de nada, perdon, and so on. • Know the different kinds of coffees and how to order them. • Know how to order beer - Caña, Doble, Pinta, Tanque, Jarra. • Valencian water is safe to drink (or so they say) • Know how to order drinks - “Una copa de…” • Tipping is not needed • know the types of paella • Know the feeding schedules • Try the Menu del día • Speaking of beer - Fast food here is fun - Fast food has beer • Mercat central closes at 3 - Monday to Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. • Going topless is common on Spanish beaches - Bring sunblock with you all the time, even when you’re not at the beach. • You can drink on the beach but only cans • There is always something happening in Valencia, follow blogs about Valencia to get the latest events. Welcome and in this video, we are going to talk about our experience of flying to Spain with a dog in our cabin. We will also discuss the documents that needed to take care of the dog, the actual training of the dog and maintaining the dog during flight. Moving overseas with a dog is not as simple as buying a ticket and boarding the plane; there is an elaborate procedure to be followed. If you’re planning on moving to Spain with your dog, you should be aware of the entry requirements for dogs to Spain. Spain is pet friendly country but they are strict when it comes to letting other animals in. There’ll have to ensure your pet has the right paperwork to meet Spanish immigration rules. ▶️ Before moving to Spain, we have completed all the following steps to take the dog with us.

Documents needed for dog: • Valid EU pet passport • Microchip for dog • Rabies vaccine • A signed and sealed USDA APHIS International Health Certificate
Actual training of the dog so that it can understand commands

It's no surprise that Spain is a popular destination for expats. There's more to it than beautiful weather, long stretches of beach, and delicious food. Moving to Spain has several advantages, including a better work life balance and a higher overall quality of life. Family, friends, socializing, and resting are all top considerations for Spaniards. According to the latest recent figures from the Spanish government, the country has 5.6 million foreign residents. With everything Spain has to offer, from the sunny climate to the laid-back lifestyle, that number is only expected to rise, with life in Spain more enticing than ever. You've done your job on the country you want to visit! There were a few things you had to complete before you departed. Planning a move may be a stressful experience. While some of the things you'll need in your new country may be easy to come by, others may be more difficult to get or substantially more expensive. On the other hand, because you'll be moving, you won't need most of your belongings in this country. Before we move to Spain as an expat, we have ensured some things that are mentioned below.

Hey Guys! Welcome to Everything is Boffo! In today’s video, we will talk about our apartment hunting in Spain and share with you how to find an apartment and tips for apartment hunting. Valencia is the third-largest city in Spain. It is a popular tourist destination, attracting over 2 million visitors per year. Valencia is well-known for its cuisine, cultural festivals, and architectural variety. We've finally arrived at our home in Valencia. We don't have much furniture, so hopefully, there's not much to move. We had to wait longer than expected to move in, but we finally did. Valencia is without a doubt a wonderful city to live in! It's cheap, safe, light, and easy to move around, and it has some of the best weather in the world! Valencia not only has some nice neighborhoods to live in, but the city as a whole is fantastic. We had a great time looking for apartments. We have friends who said they only looked at five apartments after being given a list of five, and then they looked at two before deciding on one. It's absolutely stunning, and you should expect to pay for it if you decide to relocate there. However, it is not always the most practical choice. Take place in the city center. When renting an apartment, look for the nearest grocery store because, unlike the rest of Valencia, there are only a few decent ones in the city center. A very interesting area, and one of the best areas of town to go out and enjoy the diverse culture, with many restaurants and bars as well as a very active cultural scene. ▶️ Here are the topics we will discuss: • What we saw that most apartments had compared to the ones in the USA. • How we navigated through Idealista. • What we discovered about the requirements to get approved. • How we figured out what kind of apartment we wanted • How we chose the neighborhood that we wanted to live in • Who handles the properties and how we dealt with them ▶️ Tips for finding a better apartment: • Don’t put a lot of filters in Idealista. • Call the listing first before emailing. • Try Facebook groups to look for apartments. • Don’t post your budget in a public group. • Spent time in the neighborhood you like. • Most landlords will require a nominal ( Payslip in Spain) • Have a list of your must-haves. • Get an AirBNB to try out an area. • Most properties will be handled by an agent some will be directly handled by the owner. • Dealing directly with the owner might be easier. ▶️ Quick tips: • Most of the stores would deliver for free! • Mattress from max colchon • TV was from El corte ingles (outlet) • Most go the furniture from IKEA • Try looking for furniture from Facebook marketplace. Hello Guys! Welcome and in this video, We'll talk about how we applied for a Spanish retirement visa (the Non-Lucrative Visa) at the Spanish Consulate in Los Angeles and how it went. You'll also get step-by-step instructions on how to obtain this residency permit, including documentation, prerequisites, and the legal process.

Spain’s non-lucrative visa is one of the most popular residency choices for persons wishing to live or retire. This will be your greatest option if you plan to go to Spain and not work there, or if you plan to retire there.

The non-lucrative residence residency is one of the various types of Spanish visas available to non-EU people with sufficient financial resources to remain in the country without working. This is also true for the applicant's relatives since you are welcome to bring your family along.

After entering Spanish territory, this permit will allow you to stay for a year. One of its most notable features is that it prevents you from engaging in any form of economic or professional activity in Spain. To put it another way, you are not permitted to work for any corporation functioning in the country. It is a non-profit organization.

Hello Guys! Welcome and in this video, we will share our journey of collecting all the requirements for the Non-Lucrative Visa for Spain through the Los Angeles consulate, as it was a little daunting but with the help of our Facebook friends and the Spanish consulate, we finally were able to complete it! Spain has always been one of the most popular expat destinations. Spain boasts pleasant weather, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, as well as historic and quiet cities, gorgeous scenery, and beaches. Spain is also a country where many people wish to build their home away from home because of its excellent gastronomy and culture. A non-lucrative resident visa is a one-of-a-kind form of residency permit in Spain for non-European people who intend to live in the country for an extended period of time. This residence permit is non-profit in the sense that you will be unable to engage in any economic or professional activities in Spain. If you intend to go to Spain, a non-profitable visa may be the best option for you. To apply for a visa to Spain, you must meet certain requirements that cannot be reduced. ▶️ Documentation we provided for the Non-Lucrative Visa in Spain for the LA Consulate: • Visa application form • One passport-type photo • Valid Passport or Travel Document and photocopy • I.D. Card (for proof of residency) and photocopy • U.S. Resident Alien Card or valid U.S. long-term Visa and photocopy • EX 01 Form • 790-52 Form • Medical Certificate • Certification of “absence of police records", Apostilled and translated, and photocopy • Proof of funds • Copy of most recent Tax Return • Medical Insurance • Visa Fee • Marriage certificate, Apostilled and translated and photocopy • Birth certificate for minors, Apostilled and translated and photocopy • Disclaimer We also presented a notarized letter of intent in Spanish as a way to better express ourselves to the consulate. That’s where we are at right now. We said “yes” to our hearts and now it has taken us on a new adventure! An amazing opportunity has presented itself to us and today we are excited to announce that… …WE’RE MOVING TO SPAIN! 🇪🇸

After a year of keeping secret, planning, spanish classes, tennis lessons, eagerly waiting for a reply from the consulate, we got our visas today and it’s the most nerve racking feeling ever because now we really need to go 😆

We are so thankful to have had 13 remarkable years here in the US of a life that we could have only dreamt of. Meeting so many amazing people, working at the most beautiful venues, and eating the best food we could’ve never paid for 😝
