Let me take you to through the wires of electronic music. Synths shall be played and synths shall be shared! My name is Phtalo aka Mortenson and I’m gonna delve into the joy of discovering electronic music from back when drum machines became available to young people with bedroom studios and back when electronic composers were lab people dressed in white coats. All the way up to now and the near future. I'll reveal a line up of electrified inspiration through the decades. We’ll talk about the tracks played and nerd out a little on the music production. Mostly I’ll fill up your haus with house and electronic magic. Feel free to dance in the kitchen, soothe your mood while working, or just cool & calm sway your thoughts while on the U-bahn. Welcome to a place for music lovers of all genders & colors. Mi casa es tu casa, let’s get electric!

It's the beginning of summer and up north we can still see the aurora waving its neon green curtains, during the few hours of darkness that we have at this time of year. The sweet voice of a nightingale is sampled and played as we launch into the night until dawn chorus appears. We slow down our thoughts with a steady grace. Music is talking to us like an early bird of lush sound and song. The soul is a bird, a magical bird. We go through bells and birds and steel pans from Tobago. Imagine having wings and going south every winter, like a balsam for the soul, soaking up the sun. Just like the nightjar.

We take off like a pink flamingo dancing flamenco sipping wine. Pause the world and let yourself feel alive for an hour, for the day, perhaps for the night. So many uptempo juicy rhythms in this episode. We jumping double, changing the scripture. Rhythm is rhythm and it starts something in the body, energies in bloom. It's a chaotic harmony, but as the world is quite unavailable for the sensitive, we strike a pose to get through. Let's call it untitled, let's call it slowed down. Let's feel it, let's allow openness. Welcome to level 50.

Welcome to the April pod. We start out by ascending directly to the open sky in an acid elevator that keeps increasing in speed... we're almost there and arrive with hearts and spirit ready for more adventure. Batin acid is not from the TB303 but actually categorised as E330, it's the acid in lemon fruits. With the speed of light we elegantly enter the bouncy part of this journey, it's a fun ride and brings us right around the corner to some light treading foot work on a dance floor made by cloud. No pills, just us and the music. What's divine? Perhaps a feeling, Nina Simone said: Freedom is no fear! Make your own hedonic treadmill, get your own modals, it's all about that precious feeling of feeling good. Let's enter a nova walden of music that lets us reconnect with the sun, the trees, the earth. To all the negativity and hurt, let's chant "I don't need it" until it's gone. We are arrows of time, flying through the atmosphere, what can we do, but try to bring joy and creativity while we're here.

Time — what is it? Fixed, yet flexible... Don't worry — in this February episode, we're snowed in. No need to dread the evening; it's free of the news. We might be feeling a little nerves or euphoria. It’s up to us whether we want to cry electric tears — go ahead — or enjoy a ‘flim’. It’s whatever you want it to be. Music is easier — a loop that takes you somewhere else, a different state of mind. Come dance in the D, all the way to the beautiful beach. In the midst of a snowstorm, we'll let the mind drift.

Welcome to the December pod. We're in Copenhagen reminiscing electronic music of the 90s. The housy, the melodic, the emotional, the sassy and all together a pretty warm sounding atmosphere. We start out with wet dreams and dreamlike states of mind. Searching is also living and obviously once in a while, this living requires an analogue bubblebath and a domina atmosphere.

Welcome to the bass ostinatos that sound like dripping acid. Don't worry, you'll understand once I press play on the amazing music that I picked for this Autumn special. Like taking a spin in the washing machine, we love acid, we can feel it and feel it again. This sound is our friend and it takes us to a higher state of consciousness, like fever rays and smelling batine. The leaves are falling full of colors, while we feel love. We feel it again as we discover a track treasure from Poland. Just so glad it found our ears. Taking a chance on an odd product like the TB-303 can create a difference bigger than you ever can imagine, even, or perhaps especially, when it takes a few years till you realize. Feel the vibrations up close. We’re on a mission, let's anticipate that the fence will be a passage through the spheres. The dust in us has gone places, but the lovely bloodflow is still here running. Like mania. And here we are. Still standing with dreams in our hair. I invite you onto the rainbow sequence. Let’s go!

Welcome to this sound journey where we start out by ascending endlessly and effortlessly upwards. We heard it's sweet like honey, and we know how to dress well. It's like the escape before the rain, like a force over the energy field of Medellin, all the way in a swaying rhythm to the caribbean blue. We wanna slow down with our head in the clouds, a dream-like state, avoiding the white lily. Here we are, in the middle of music, wanting to heal.

In this episode we welcome the springtime with no delay. We feel it like a dream come true. The feeling of being lucky in the sun, it's a wild one, and momentarily the void and the unstable condition seem to be in a suite for the invisible. I DM you that it's a lonely fight. Again and again, we dive into it, like it was water, something blue. So many new sounds and known sounds and fine sounds. The taste of rhubarb is developing as we speak. So lean back, take a deep breath and let me play you some of that saving and escaping music that you crave. Like a bath in the sun. Welcome to the anticipation of care in April.

Autumn is colorful and so is the music in this episode. I picked out some beauties and oddities, some with radical stories even. We're going back a bit to dig out some early electronica endeavours, like the invention of a machine that let's you draw the sound. We meet two nuns making a DIY album bathed in delays. Also looking into a Goddess' eyes. We're in limbo for a bit, but Venezuela taps us in again and we get new directions to a sparkling world over the horizon. On a far away planet they invent new sounds. There's a lot of treats for those insterested in production and those enjoying the quirky, out of frame styles.

Oh to just up and disappear. This episode is esoteric and divine. I present to you: early new age, starting out with a magic monkey, and yes there's a bit of an autumn theme, it's cold at night now, and it's chill during the day. We visit the cult of Isis – an Egyptian goddess of woman power. Keywords, as we go along, are Transformation and Transition. Two words that Trans people understand in depth. We enter shiva's dance into a spiral dance, and under the blue veil, the daydreams are thriving. What is soundless sound, and where to get it? Escapism is an artform for poor people. Use it whenever you need a break. We all deserve better than how the world looks right now. So let's take a deep dive into the up-lit ocean of healing. Repair with sound.

The electricity is omnidirectional and the energy is building up. When did music become electric? Are humans electric? We are definitely curious and creative beings. We start out this episode with a fanfare on a rare instrument, built before the synthesizers fell down from the sky. I think we still need time away from the hamster wheel, so let's make a sacrificial dance and with our bare hands draw while half asleep. We're not leaving until we get a clearing that the battery is fully loaded. Oh and did I mention that I won a neurodivergent gold medal? Well it's true. Let's dive into the smooth vinyl grooves and listen up close to the needle making crackles and noises, like silberfisch whispering into a U47, that finally came out of the closet and captured the world.

We enter this episode through an underpass and discover that early electro music often thrived in a duo constellation. You’ll hear about the phenomenon dopplereffekt and we go from here to eternity with an italian flavour. We get around the 80s in black and white with a moody attitude. We zoom in on the liner notes of a particular album where the lead singer is credited with "wiplashes" among vocals and a particular synth that can take us to the universe. We'll dig up some Swiss new wave that is too cool for school. And finally we’ll meet an Indian artist who made a revolutionary album with the TB-303 and other space gear. Welcome to the discovery zone!

Here we are, green is folding out and sun is coming through. It's Spring reverb time, if you know what I mean. So let's lower our shoulders and enjoy being seduced by music. It's a mixed bag of fresh. We enter effortlessly and go deep, the frost is no more and the peaks are building. As we go through the playlist you will hear the sound of wooden organ pipes with sailor vibes. Laurie says language is a virus. Look at me! Look at me! Look at me! On this musical journey we finally arrive to watch the desert bloom. Welcome to a new episode of My House In Your Haus.

Hello again, it's me again, how are you? Well, you can start relaxing now, this episode will hug you with a dubby feeling and calm you with bird song. Did you know that bird song has been proven to be one of the most calming sounds. It signals safe surroundings and peace. What you can't get in the real world you must seek to experience else where, but look no further, you've come to the right place. Grab your hammock and allow yourself to surrender to tender dubby sounds. We start off with bird song recorded onto reel to reel, then slowed down so the human ear can hear the melodies hidden in the natural fast chirps. Greetings and welcome!

Three short beeps, three long beeps and three short beeps again, is the morsing code for SOS. We enter February with singing into transmission in only a couple of minutes, the zerspannungs- modulator is all turned up in the warehouse in Utrecht, where the morsing code arrives like a prophecy, and is human like us. We throw our desperate wish into the universe in the hopes that we’ll be heard and helped. Everyone needs a base, a home, a safe place where they can rest, thrive and reload their battery. In a fair society, perhaps matriarch, this would be a human right. I wish for capitalism to be destroyed by aliens. I wish to dismantle the power of all leaders in this world. I’d send them to the warehouse and with music reprogram their mind to peace, love and harmony.

Life is life-like with a mix of joy and grief, and sometimes we need to lift up and zoom out. Bells are bringing us closer to a higher state of conciousness. Hallucinate if you like, find balance in god's chariots and saddle up that heavenly rise and be above. Follow the rhythm and sound. We enter the year quietly and telepathycally.

We go minimal and controlled with the Germans, in particular Köln (Cologne). Home of all tracks kompakt und profan. The art of putting together a meal of just a few ingredients, that works. Also it’s moonday. We get to feel the vinyl dust and stunning synth stabs through a dubby delay over heavy bass notes that drag along the floor. But don’t worry, right after this experience you’ll meet a happy-go-lucky track that makes you wonder if it even has a time frame. I’ve collected these german gems to shine on you. Super geil.

We enter this episode in the darkness of the dancefloor which brings out our other senses to explore, other than the eyesight which is the second sense to be activated when we’re born. The first sense enabled is the hearing, which is also the last one to go, when we leave this earth. We speed up the bpm and listen to a millenial trancer, millenial as in the year 2000, as this track was made in the 90s, before the word “millenial” was used to describe a generation. There’s a little pearl of sound towards the end, made by a voice, a sort of human arpeggiator which to some degree simulate a synthetic voice, allthough recorded in all it’s natural shape. A danish synth builder ends this episode gracefully and I call out for every listener to experience peace in the midst of brutal times. Take care out there.

The indian summer is bliss and slowly we'll enter autumn. Cycle of life on planet Earth. We enter this episode with a 90s feel, a windows system hacked into something better and more fun. I talk about new things like new names and new discoveries. We're all on a journey, passing through, taking in the scenery, evolving like a pathway in the electric circuitry of a synth. Processing, modulation and control modules. The body tells us so much. We go through big reverbs, pauses, distortion, tiptoeing beats in a room, squarewaves edging up through filters, everything changes. Wax your ears and get ready to meet the new you. This episode is a trip into unknown land. Vamos!

Welcome to another round of stunning music to soothe your day and night. It's summer, it's warm and we go swimming every day. The sea is a healer and the sun is reloading the body and the mind. It's pride month and we want to feel free, to feel alive and feel connected. We come together in music, in dance and we fold out our ears to the sensitive and the deep. Love is a verb, actions actually. Bless the people who are open and caring for others. Stories are told through music, a universal language whose currency is energy. How lucky are we to feel bliss as the light in the north is present from 4 AM to 11 PM. Nerves under my feet entangle the grass. Allow yourself to be tender.

Art Department is touching us gently with their detuned vocals and we dive into lakes of synths till they rise and fall in stunning arpeggiator style. Pay attention to the reverb of some of these tracks: wide and roomy. Lots of beauty in this tracklist.

We're meeting in this episode to calm our nervous system. Winter is dragging us down and we need healing. Lay down, relax, look at the moon, let the clouds hurry by behind the silhouettes of naked trees, Echo and I just saw it on our night walk. Have a cup of herbal tea, the tunes in this episode are a soft bed of musical notes carrying your winter tired body. The first flowers are on their way through the soil to greet the sun. In this episode I greet you gently and with the caress of stunning music.

It’s pre-election day in the woods in Denmark. Dark clouds are hovering over the arts and the people, but how will it turn out in the end !? In the need of hope and positive vibes, I put on some house records and hope that the universe is listening. “So get up, let’s do this together” one of the phrases on top of a ‘four to the floor’ track. Brazil, walk with me, dance with me, into the future. Smooth does it. We keep it together. We let it flow. Arps and 808s are fueling our rocket ship. A majestic new machine will make it’s entrance and save the day. Sometimes a hihat on 2 and 4 is all we need to keep going. “Heal me, Loving”. Join the love train and tune in as we create a house of hope!

A cheers to the future, a relief for the heart and darkness. Snares are at 2 and 4. It’s either a quick and light step for the kick, or a heavy 808. Possibilities possibilities... We dive into the svamp of deep and get a spanking by some lowfi snares, it’s all good. Turn around, don’t turn around. Machines are new and exiting, some have a dream, that they can take us to the universe, into space and future. Surely we get around. The 80s are poor and the music is cold and industrial in Berlin. As long as we have Kaltes Klares Wasser, I think we’re hot and good. Don’t wear a cowboy hat this time, look around for some black clothes and a haircut. We’re going on the edge. Welcome to electro life season.

I wanted to call this episode "When there's a world crisis we need techno". As in we need escapism, to dance and feel the burden lift off our shoulders, oh to be free! We need an outlet for all the chaos. Nina Simone once said Freedom is "no fear"! Let's be fearless in this episode of techno, find your UFO and let loose. Hands in the air and shake it off. We ponder technology and listen to tracks that you wont believe was made in 1993 or 1997. We travel also in the recent yesterday which is 2021. We go high energy, we go rave mode and cat nip till we fly up above the heavy dark clouds. And one more thing: we dance with the Finish Primeminister Sanna Marin. Take this techno and be free!

It's August, late summer, leos, and soon my birthday. But everything is minimal right now. Talk is minimal, music is minimal, life is minimal. Worldwide inflation makes money go minimal. Less is more they say. But only if you have too much. In this episode we cut away the extra, we shave it off and we end up with a minimal sound, experimenting with just a few components. We starve a little and present a barenaked track with just enough magic to blow your mind. After an hour perhaps you’ll start to miss tracks with clothes. 'Cause clothes are fun and expressive. But before you go back and dress up, first take this minimal trip to the moon with Phtalo as your pilot.

Welcome to the pod, we’ll start off with a track called Prelude To Madness! In this episode we’re gonna break away some tabus and talk about being an artist and an autist. We’ll dip a toe into fair economics and tackle some frustration about world problems in the face of capitalism and patriarchy. Heavy topics, I know, but listen up, I will reveal our secret weapon to help us riot and make the world a better place. You’ll hear brilliant examples of activism through music and I’ll present you the music of a special monkey or two. Buckle up and big love.

Listen, take a deep breath, gear down for a minute, let the energy flow like the river and come into a state of calm and collective. We’re visiting some of the icons of new age and around. The women of course. We’re in the 80s but mixing it up with later artists inspired by these creative synth and modular wizards. I’ve defenately been inspired by Laurie Anderson to mention one; and in 2010 I had the oportunity to remix her song Only An Expert. There’s a YT tip with Suzanne Ciani, a norty kinder sürprise at the end, and the earlybird premiere of a new Phtalo track. Welcome to this music journey.

My first guest is visiting the pod. She has a hefty long DJ career, travellig around the world making the dancefloors bounce in the dark. She also founded Female:Pressure, an online platform that suddenly spiked in new members after Björk mentioned it in an interview.

Let’s hear a well known house track of the early 90s, with a vocal line that inspired the title of this pod. We’ll hear it in two different versions and talk about sampling. Fresh ideas are born in the name of inspiration. How everyone borrows a snippet of someone’s creation and make it their own.
A track has a dna, but part of it can be dressed up in new gowns and present itself as something familiar but yet from another planet. Sampling was universal in early house music. If you don’t believe me, take a look at this website: whosampledwho.com
