On the umpteenth edition of Patrick's Predator Podcast,

Danny Glover is given the impossible task of following the beloved (yet as of yet unwatched-along with Big Poppa Predator) action film, Predator. Predator (1987) has the advantage of being a high-concept Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle at a time in which he was a bigger box office draw than the Pope. The follow-up to the sci-fi/horror Schwarzenegger movie features Glover in the Schwarzenegger role.

If you're like me, the guy that is writing this (who is probably just a podcast summary writing bot and not a real person), and you haven't seen Predator 2, you're probably saying something like "Danny Glover?", or "Danny?" if you are a friend of Danny Glover's and on a first-name basis with him, or "Glover?" if you went to primary school with him in like 4th to 7th grade which was the time of a young man's life when all the boys at school called each other by their last name as though they were a part of some professional sports team or in the military (which, by the way, they weren't and they all grew up to be loser-jerks like the loser-jerks they were during 4th to 7th grade), or maybe you read this and just learned that Danny Glover had to anchor the Predator sequel and you say "Glove-Man? No Way!" or "Glove-Glove? Really? That's great!" if you went to primary school with him but you actually were his friend and you feel like you know him because you really knew him during primary school and you didn't call him by his last name like some loser-jerk but in an affectionate, buddy-way and you had a Friday night sleepover once a month with pizza and scary movies or you both went to the roller-skating rink and you tried to be his wingman while he tried to talk to that girl he liked a lot in 7th grade but he just couldn't talk to her because he had acne and no confidence... or vice versa...

But it's all true. Well... the part about Danny Glover being the star of Predator 2 is true... or is it? Is it possible that the Predator himself, or itself, is actually the star of Predator 2? Well, obviously the actor that played King Willie is the star of Predator 2 but from there who is the real star of the sequel to Predator?

This is the basis of the conflict between Danny Glover and the Predator in Predator 2, set to the backdrop of a futuristic past. Come to think of it, the imagined year of 1997 may be the real star of this film. In fact, I dare any man or woman of reason to time travel back to 1990. Close your eyes, forget everything you know about America post-1990, and imagine what 1997 would be like. Open your eyes. Are you watching Predator 2? Is 1997 not exactly what you imagine it would be?

Essentially, the top billing for Predator 2 should read:

The Actor that plays King Willie as King Willie

Futuristic 1997 as 1997

and featuring Danny Glover as Mike Harrigan OR

and featuring the Predator as The Predator.

Now you can sort all of this out in whatever way you need to while you watch Predator 2 along with Big Poppa Predator himself- Patrick!
