As someone with ADD it can be a real struggle to stay grounded. It’s something I’ve had to work on my entire life. Often I feel like I’m floating away or my brain feels like the inside of a freshly-shaken snow globe. My favorite grounding stone is also my birthstone; the garnet. A lovely little pomegranate that we’ll be chatting about this week. We also discuss Nettle which has a surprising number of health benefits and you should consider using it in maybe your broth or tea! I’ll be sharing the way that I ground before spellwork and some tips for protecting yourself and your space while you’re busy at your altar. Protection and grounding are really important skills to develop and it’s imperative you learn how to do both.

We’re talking selfishness this week. I hate that word. People throw it around too frequently. Take a day for yourself to just be alone and you’re “selfish”. Buy something nice with the money you work hard for and you’re “selfish”. Cut off people who leech off you and you’re “selfish”. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of selfish people in the world, but we kick that word around so much that now people feel guilty about self-care and personal boundaries, worrying that maybe they’ll be the next to be labeled as such. Well this week we’ve got rose quartz, full to bursting with love of all kinds, romantic, familial, and of course self; and hibiscus used in spells of passion but also self-confidence. I stumbled upon Glamours when I first started on this path, but left them on the back-burner, but this week I turned my focus on them. “My journey took me somewhat further down the rabbit-hole than I intended and though I dirtied my fluffy white tail, I have emerged, enlightened.” Check out this week’s episode to learn all about Glamours; charismatic, cryptic, creepy.

S1E5 - Turquoise and Eucalyptus

This week we have turquoise and eucalyptus. My grandmother was a big fan of turquoise and she passed many of her pieces on to me when she passed. I still feel her when I wear them. If you need a stone for fending off those allergies you should keep one of these calm, soothing stones nearby. Similarly eucalyptus will form a gentle barrier around you. It’s cooling properties are good for clearing your sinuses, but it is poisonous to pets so use with caution! This week I tried to make a comprehensive list of different types of witches, but I’m sure I missed some so if I left you out I apologize. Maybe you identify with just one of these types, maybe you are looking into learning about a second or third type, maybe you feel like you’re a blend of several types. February is always a hard month for me. It feels like there’s nothing to look forward to. Everything feels so stagnant. I feel like I'm just waiting for Spring. This week my motivation was really low. So here is a beam of light if you’re also feeling foggy and down; the citrine. The “magic flower” of the week is motherwort. This herb pops up for me frequently in unexpected places. Sometimes you just need a warm hug from your mom and this plant is like the mom of the plant world. It will bring you comfort on long winter nights. This season can be hard, this past year has been hard...this Mercury Retrograde is probably harder than many you’ve experienced… Remember to take care of yourself. Mercury rules communication so beware of disagreements and missed messages! Here’s some do’s and dont's to survive until it goes direct on the 20th!
