The teachers shared why they wanted to become teachers in the first place, as well as what they think the language department brings to Archer.

Mzoughi and Alitoro discuss their experiences fasting and the differences in observance across countries.

In this episode of The Scoop, Multimedia Editor Oona Seppala (‘26) interviews Quinn Albrecht (‘30) whose team, the Los Angeles Lions, recently won the District Championship in Las Vegas and will continue onto Nationals. They discuss her inspirations and training to become a nationally ranked hockey player.

In this episode of The Scoop, senior reporter Charlotte Burnap interviews Orchestra Director Hannah Murray, Assistant Orchestra Director Natalie Huang (‘25) and soloist Grace Nordling (‘28) about the annual winter concert. Following the Los Angeles fires, the concert was postponed to Feb. 13 and 14. Titled “Come Together,” Murray, Huang and Nordling discussed their favorite aspects, biggest challenges and the choir and orchestra communities.

In this episode of The Scoop Senior Reporter Shae Killam (‘27) talked with Dakota Tooley (‘26) about her summer abroad in Taiwan as part of the National Scholarship for Youth Program. Tooley shared that she stayed with a host family and attended Chinese classes during the day.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Charlotte Burnap (‘27) spoke with Georgia Wilder (‘28) about the process of getting her pilot’s license. Wilder detailed how she began the process, her experiences flying solo and the relationship she has with her father, who taught her how to fly.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Phoebe Measer (‘26) and Photography Editor Melinda Wang (‘26) talked with math teachers Matthew Bartha and Leila Chakravarty about their experiences with single-sex education. Bartha reflected on his time at Loyola High School, and Chakravarty reflected on her time at Marlborough School.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Maya Hernández (‘27) talked with Hanna Robertson about the new evolutionary biology class, Eve’s Odyssey, and the importance of female perspectives in science and biology.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Vivianne Arnold (‘26) talked with Lucine Stephan (‘25) about the writing and publishing process of her recent debut book, “The Grandiose Collection.” Stephan reflected on her writing journey and how she put her book together.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Gabby Kaplan (‘27) sat down with history teacher Bethany Neubauer to talk about how Archer educates students on the events of 9/11. Neubauer reflected on how the events that occurred that day have had a lasting impact on our country and how we teach about that at Archer while being aware of the various emotions and opinions on the topic.

In this episode of The Scoop, Multimedia Editor Oona Seppala (‘26) interviewed Emma Winkler (‘25) and Tatiana Bojeczko (‘24) on their summer jobs working with kids. Winkler worked as a counselor for Archer’s summer camp and as a counselor at Camp Runoia in Maine. Bojeczko worked at Ecole Claire Fontaine, an elementary school in Venice, CA.

Episode 10 of The Scoop was recorded in the midst of the Student Led Conference preparation process. 

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Lola Thomas (‘26) interviewed 10th grade dean Ms. Poverstein, Edie Wyles (‘27), and Lily Savage (‘26) about their opinions on the new changes to Student Led Confrences. SLC conferences are typically held in person at Archer with a student’s mentor and parent present. This year, SLC’s were held asynchronously. Students reflected on how the new SLC format compares to the year prior, and Poverstein gave insight on the reasoning for this change.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Melinda Wang (‘26) interviewed Lisa (‘25), a student journalist living in New York, about her perspective on student censorship and her involvement in combating it. Lisa described her own school’s involvement in student censorship and considered social media’s impact on spreading misinformation.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporters Emily Paschall (‘26) and Meredith Ho (‘26) featured senior Kay Bruce and freshman Katia Thomas who are both involved in service outside of Archer. History teacher and service learning coordinator Meg Shirk also offered insight into Archer’s ninth grade history curriculum, which includes a service project proposal as the second semester final, and the importance of passion-led service.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Melinda Wang (‘26) interviewed student journalist Avital Sojcher and Senior Legal Counsel Mike Hiestand about the effects of censoring student media at private schools. Sojcher reflected on her own experience with censorship and how it has impacted her views on student journalism.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Oona Seppala (‘26) interviewed Parker Keston (‘25) on her mitzvah project turned life-long passion: beekeeping. She reflected on how she discovered she was passionate about protecting bees, how to stay consistent with your passion projects and the importance of the mitzvah project in Judaism.

In this episode of The Scoop, Senior Reporter Sydney Tilles (‘26) interviewed 2023-2024 Student Body President Anaiya Asomugha (‘24) about her goals and how she plans to achieve them throughout the year. She reflects on her experience as president so far, offers advice to fellow students and shares insight into her life as a senior and a leader on campus.

Senior Reporters Lola Thomas (’26) and Emily Paschall (’26) sat down with a student and faculty member to learn more about the diverse array of winter celebrations they share. The participants reflected on the importance of family traditions and recognizing the different ways members of Archer’s community celebrate the holiday season.

Senior reporters Meredith Ho ('26) and Tavi Memoli ('25) sat down with senior Amelia Hines to talk about her collegiate commitment to swim at Brown University and the process of her athletic recruitment. She reflects on her entire swim journey, the lessons she has learned throughout the years and the people who have supported her. In the end, Hines shares advice to student athletes and the recruitment process.

After the Advanced Study Humanities Symposium, seniors head to the courtyard to partake in the fountain jump tradition, where each student gets drenched in the fountain’s water. As this tradition has been around almost the entire school’s history, The Oracle sat down with Associate Head of School Karen Pavliscak, English Department Chair Brian Wogensen and theater teacher and 10th grade dean Tracy Poverstein to reflect on the origins of the tradition and how it has changed over the 23 years of they have worked at Archer.
