Torch Song deal with a crazed stalker madly in love with a pop star. The Ultimate Thrill is about a risk-crazed chick who is a walking sexual innuendo and is not subtle at all. Over the Edge is one of the best episodes in the entire series but involves the death of Batgirl and her father Jim Gordon's reaction and crusade against Batman.

So much to get to this week! After catching up with some news and what we've been watching we are recapping three more episodes of Batman The Animated Series.

First it's Count Vertigo and the first meeting between Talia Al Ghul and Batman. We will also see some Hitchcock references and the first appearance of Ra's Al Ghul.

Next we have one of the all-time great episodes. Batman has been accidentally killed by a pathetic nobody and we see how Gotham takes it. The gangs are thrilled, the cops crushed and The Joker...well when the Joker gives Batman's eulogy, it's the greatest Joker scene of all time. Mark does his best to recreate it.

Last we are in a strange Clayface episode where he is falling apart. There are more movie references in this episode than any we've ever seen in the show.

Welcome to The Uncaped Crusaders Review! This is a podcast where Mark and Ian discuss (and rant) about all things Batman!

The format of the show has changed some as we have moved Movie Swap to it's own YouTube Show! So this show will go back to us talking about any Batman related news and then about the Batman content. Hopefully this will streamline the episodes better.

This week we are back in Batman: The Animated Series with three more episodes. First it's the two-part Heart of Steel which is a combination of about 10 different sci-fi references/plots all crammed into two episodes. This takes aspects of 2001: A Space Odyssey with H.A.R.D.A.C. which is an AI who takes power from his human master in order to replace all humans with robots. This AI is basically H.A.L. from 2001 with the same emotionless tone and red light as it's "eye." It's got a ton of T2, which had come out just a year prior, and several other sci-fi staples. We also are introduced to Barbara Gordon for the first time.

In the other episode, If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich? we get introduced to The Riddler, voiced by the great John Glover, and Batman and Robin have to solve the Riddle of the Minotaur maze.

Ever wonder why The Riddler is the best Batman villain of the 1966 Batman show? Well the simple answer is Frank Gorshin. Gorshin is a master comedian and impressionist and by the forth time he dons the green leotard he is allowed to release his performing brilliance in full force. These two episodes are not well written and the story is pretty nonsensical. But none of that matters because The Riddler is impersonating Charlie Chaplin, making a silent film, throwing pies and robbing vaults as a cowboy. It is all a joy to watch.

For Movie Swap Mark watched The Game (1997) and Ian watched Winnie The Pooh (2011).

One of the biggest disappointments of the entire Batman 1966 show was that Bookworm, played by the great Roddy McDowell, was only in these two episodes. This is one of the best things to ever come out of this show as the lasting impact of Bookworm is still felt today. Batman: The Animated Series provided us with a near perfect telling of Robin's origin story in Robin's Reckoning (Part 1 and 2). It utilizes an amazing use of flashbacks to you Dick Grayson in the circus to the death of his parents at the hands of Tony Zucco to his moving in with Bruce Wayne. It won a Emmy for it's efforts as well and we try and do it justice in this episode. We also cover the classic Joker episode The Laughing Fish. This has one of the most hair-brained and insane plots in the history of the Joker where he poisons all the fish in Gotham to have his Joker grin and then tries to copyright them.

For Movie Swap Mark watched the 90s Disney cult classic The Rocketeer and Ian watched the 2011 Best Picture winner The King's Speech. WARNING THERE IS STRONG LANGUAGE DURING THIS SEGMENT.

We've got the final three episodes of Batman The Animated Series Volume 1 to review! First up is Appointment In Crime Alley which is also the first episodes Ian ever saw. It revolves around Batman trying to pay his respects to his parents on the anniversary of their death. Unfortunately for him he keeps having to help people. The next is Mad As A Hatter which introduces us to one of Mark's all time favorite villains, The Mad Hatter. Finally we get to Dreams In Darkness which has one of the best hooks of any episode with Batman a patient in Arkham. The plot was also used for Batman Begins.

The new Batmobile has finally been revealed! Matt Reeves dropped the first three photos of the automobile and we of course have our reactions.

Frank Gorshin is the best. That's all you really need to say about these two episodes of Batman 1966. He is trying to steal ancient Inca treasure and Batman and Robin find themselves tied up being slowly dipped into boiling wax where Batman uses his shiny utility belt to reflect the sun into a barrel which explodes and frees them. Yeah it's wild!

See No Evil might be the darkest episode of the series where a child's father turns invisible and tries to kidnap her. Prophecy of Doom follows a doomsday cult leader trying to swindle the rich.

Generic episodes but the introduction to Catwoman and the Catwoman-Batman relationship which is fantastic.
