You On Music is a new podcast series brought to you by the team at X-System, dedicated to why music is so important to us, and what effects sound and music have on our mind and body.

Why do we turn to sad songs to heal a broken heart?
How does music therapy work?
And how can we use music to address ongoing health conditions, both physical and mental?

You On Music will attempt to answer these questions, and more, with forthcoming themed episodes on how music affects the brain, the heart, and the lungs; and what role music can play, from a psychological, social and biological perspective, in helping to deal with psychological issues such as trauma, neurological conditions like epilepsy, ADHD and depression, and digging deeper into the musical relationship to emotions like joy, sadness and wonder.

You On Music is a new podcast series dedicated to why music is so important to us, and what effects sound and music have on our mind and body.

In this first episode, our co-founder Professor Nigel Osborne, a British music therapist, composer and aid worker, introduces our season with an overview of how music interacts with our minds and bodies, examining issues as diverse as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, ageing, addiction, memory, mother-baby communication and romantic love.
