Club Unmute is a way you can support the work we do here at Unmute. If you're interested in an exclusive opportunity to learn more with us privately and to check out some of the social events we have, check out Unmute show. This has been an ACB community call. Today's Unmute presents community call was hosted on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Hello, everyone, and welcome back to another unmute. And as usual, we have some announcements here at the top. But first, we want to remind everyone we're going to take all first questions, and if we have time, we'll take second questions. We also want to remind everyone to please be respectful and make sure you give the same respect to everyone else's question as you would want for yours. The question of the day is whether it was virtually or whether you attended the national convention. What intrigued you in the exhibit hall? What did you like? What did you not like? What did you think was cool? All of that. What did you find that intrigued you in the exhibit hall? Also with us, as usual, we have Michael Doyce back. How are you, Michael? Hi, Marty. It's good to be here with everybody today. I was at the convention in person. It was a fantastic convention. I can't wait for next year to see everybody again. I would have to say my favorite thing that I saw was in the exhibit hall had to be the orbit speak. That was such a neat little tiny device, and I was a huge fan of that. I only got to see several other devices that were interesting, but that was kind of the neatest thing that I think I saw just because of the size and what, you know, what was on the device. And I was very sad to see guidelines and gadgets. You know, they're not going to be exhibiting anymore. And I got to speak with Barry, so, you know, they're fantastic. And, but I also wanted to point out we did several IA cast episodes discussing content at convention, several things in the exhibit hall, Ira's offerings. That's pretty exciting too. So if you have not listened to those, check them out in the iaccessibility app or on the podcast catchers of choice. And it's very awesome to, to hear everything that came out. And we also did a video comparing the metaglasses and the Rabbit R1, and it's on the podcast feed and YouTube. So check those out. Thanks, Michael. I did check out the meta glasses, one that you guys put out, and that was super informal. Awesome. It had some great information, so definitely check that out for you guys. Guys want to know about the meta glasses. I definitely enjoyed it. Made me want to get some, actually. So anyway, we also, as usual, have Michael Babcock with us. How you doing, Michael? I have not checked out Michael's meta ray bans audio, but I will do that now because if you weren't aware of it, Ira announced over convention, and Michael may have talked about this, that they are launching a pilot program so you can use the meta ray bans with Ira. And I'm intrigued to see where that goes because hands free for $300 is not a bad deal once they get that rolled out. So, super exciting. 400, depending on the glasses. Well, I mean, I believe they even have a pair. That's just about 500, too. Wow. Yeah, the Ferrari edition. Anyways, so the thing that I was intrigued by, there's two things that I'll mentioned. One I will never buy, but I thought it was really interesting to check out the lyric, which is a desktop scanner that lets you take a photo of documents. And that's. That's good, but what it will also do, because everything has it, is AI. And they demonstrated taking a photo of a comic strip and then sending it to AI, which then explained the different panes of the comic strip and broke that down. So it was easy to understand and to read through. So that was pretty cool. The piece of hardware that I would be more likely to purchase is from a werewolf. They have a new cane out called the Urban Explorer, and it's $69 cane. It's very sturdy, and it's. It's not the lightest, but it's pretty intriguing and kind of like the way that that looks. I did not buy one, but it might be something worth checking out. So we didn't publish a lot of content over convention week. So I'm going to give a brief overview of some of the content that had come out, though, just to give you a recap. If you haven't heard it. On Sunday, we published digital bytes. Yeah, I know. I published it Sunday night, not Sunday morning, but not distracted with other things. And on that episode, Chris shows you speed test app. So if you're interested in testing your Internet speed, you can use that app. Marty showed you the Wave XLR audio interface, and I showed you the Logitech C 935 Ethereum, because that model number makes a lot of sense. Webcam, which is a 1080p webcam that I have been doing a lot of tv presentations on. And then we didn't publish anything last week. So the episode before that would have been Chris is at your fingertips. Independence with Braille which came out on the 4 July, so you'll want to check that out. I do want to mention one episode of technically working that came out a little late because Michael messed up and didn't check his work. It was supposed to come out on the 7th of on the 8 July, but it actually came out on Saturday, and it was a two hour long conversation with Demossi and Steven. And if you want to hear some interesting perspectives on blindness and other elements in life, you'll want to check out that episode of technically working. And then Adrienne's going to be sharing a shell phone show episode with you guys tomorrow. So, Chanel, who is our first hand?

06:32.910 --> 06:35.518
All right, first up we have Janet.

06:35.694 --> 06:37.290
Hey, Janet. Janet.

06:38.790 --> 07:11.540
Good morning, everybody. I wanted to say thanks to Michael Doyce for your audio tutorial on the meta glasses. My husband is getting them today. But anyway, I learned a tip for the blank shell to vote. You go to settings down notifications and you can turn that thing off. That every time you get a text or an email where it continually beeps at you, you can turn that off.

07:11.920 --> 07:16.768
Yeah. The follow up note. Or I think it's called follow up. Or reminder, notification.

07:16.904 --> 07:18.392
Notification reminders.

07:18.456 --> 07:20.184
Yeah. Yep. Yep.

07:20.272 --> 07:22.300
I did not know you could do that.

07:22.670 --> 07:26.750
Good tip there because I think it's on by default and that can get annoying.

07:26.790 --> 07:30.102
I don't like it. So I turn. So I turned it off. So there you go.

07:30.206 --> 07:32.790
Well, thank you, Janet. Appreciate that. Thanks, Janet.

07:32.950 --> 07:34.414
Yep. Have a great day.

07:34.582 --> 07:35.690
Yep, you too.

07:36.070 --> 07:38.210
Next up, we have Teresa.

07:38.630 --> 07:39.770
Hey, Teresa.

07:40.470 --> 08:17.630
Okay, I should have gone to the metabol, but I don't have a smartphone. So I didn't go to the meta booth, but I did look at the orcam. I was walking around with my brother. He was there to see me one day and he was kind of impressed with that orcam, although he wasn't so impressed with the price. That's why I said I should have gone to the meta booth. I did check it out and it was cool. Just not so cool of a price, that is. I also checked out the gliding and I walked with it and it was nice there. Again, I don't know what the price is on that.

08:18.090 --> 08:27.390
They haven't announced the price on the gliding. Oh, they did announce it. Yeah. It's what, 1400?

08:28.090 --> 08:36.642
Okay, so I liked walking. Not exactly. A chain is a lot cheaper. Just a regular old chain.

08:36.786 --> 08:53.836
Yeah. But this is definitely a great experience. And it's something that you. I think it's one of those, you have to try it out to understand how freeing it can be because it, it sounds like it's not going to be a good experience, but when you try it out, it's, it's, it's pretty cool.

08:53.948 --> 09:10.314
Oh, it was. Because, you know, they say it'll stop if there's, like, an object or a person in front of you that you don't run into that thing or a person. And that's, you know, and I noticed that. And, you know, I think that was cool.

09:10.482 --> 09:41.300
I think that if it, if it goes, if it gets to the point where they want it to be, it's going to be a great product. But I think they have a long way to go to get there. The demo that they show with somebody controlling it, if it can do with AI and technology the way that they do it with a remote control, that's going to be fantastic. But I feel like they've got a, they've got some work to do before they're ready for that. I, I got a demo as well, and I had some. Yeah.

09:43.560 --> 10:14.718
They had a model of a glidance on the table that they weren't using, but it's supposed to be able to do going down steps. And they said it weighs like five pounds, but if you, like, wanted to go up the steps, you'd have to carry it, you know, at this time anyway. But I thought that was kind of neat, though, that, you know, if I could have demonstrated it on some steps, how it would go down the stairs, you know, and get you down safely so you don't miss the step.

10:14.894 --> 10:15.390
Yep.

10:15.470 --> 10:16.530
Or asep.

10:16.990 --> 10:20.982
Yep, for sure. Well, thanks, Teresa. Appreciate it. And I was glad.

10:21.046 --> 10:21.774
And then.

10:21.942 --> 10:22.574
Oh, go ahead.

10:22.622 --> 10:33.092
Yeah. I also felt the new braille emotion and also felt the braille sent six, so I got to fill those two items.

10:33.276 --> 10:34.080
Awesome.

10:34.540 --> 10:39.840
And I also checked out the new NLS player that they're going to roll out sometime next year.

10:40.780 --> 10:48.492
That has me really intrigued, and, and I'm kind of excited about it because it has Wi Fi and Bluetooth support, so.

10:48.636 --> 10:49.084
Right.

10:49.172 --> 10:51.012
And it's supposed to be a lot smaller, right?

10:51.196 --> 11:09.550
Yes, it is. It's like square shaped and. Yeah, it felt like that anyway to me. And Liz, I don't know if she had a flash drive in it or not, but she was playing a reader's digest and I felt to see, you know, like where a cartridge goes and there wasn't a cartridge in there, so I thought that was interesting.

11:09.850 --> 11:31.580
Yeah. Because it can download books directly to the unit itself. I'm not certain what it saves those books on. I did not ask but I'm sure people who may have paid a little more attention will know and they can say. But yeah, I was, I'm hearing spring of 25, so it'll be fun to hear that. So thanks a lot, Teresa. Really appreciate it. Yep. Thank you.

11:31.620 --> 11:34.880
And we have some other raised hands. Next up is Stacy.

11:35.260 --> 11:37.120
Hey, Stacey. Stacy, how are you?

11:37.780 --> 12:58.994
Yeah, I was, I enjoyed the, as far as the exhibit hall goes, I looked at the glidance thing and I looked at the braille sense and emotion thing. I wasn't in. It was not, I was not particularly impressed with emotion. But I'm buying braille scent six. I know I was going to do that before anyway, but I was going to buy the browsen six. I knew I was going to do that before the convention, but I solidified anyway. But I'm sorry that they have no way. I was going to say this on, on the, I was also going to say this after I found out what I found out from you, Mike Backman, that they have no way of checking audible files without a computer and working with them without a computer because I would like them to come up with a way to do that on the blind shell. If at all possible, I would like to delete files. I hope that there's some way they could come up to do that because, you know, before I can get my computer, but I wish that there was a way that they could come up with another way of dealing with that. So you can safely save them to a card or something or.

12:59.162 --> 13:20.896
Yeah. And that could very, that could very well be for copyright protection as well. So it's definitely worth sending an email over to audible to see if they have any suggestions. But as of right now, I don't know of any other way to get access to those files, Stacey. But glad you got a braille sent, six, and hopefully you'll enjoy that.

13:21.088 --> 13:22.424
I think I will.

13:22.552 --> 13:24.120
Good. Who do we got next? Chanel?

13:24.200 --> 13:25.700
Next is Starry.

13:26.200 --> 13:27.680
Hey, Starry, how are you?

13:27.840 --> 14:00.710
I'm all right. So I just got a new Mac. It's my first Mac ever. And I'm curious as to how to do voiceover commands using the right hand because as far as I can tell, the voiceover keys are either option. What is it? Option control or caps lock. And so there's no control on the right side of my keyboard. So I can't do option control on the right side. So any suggestions?

14:01.370 --> 14:35.970
Yeah. So if you go into the settings and then you go to voiceover, you can use the caps lock. You can also change that key to something else. So if there's something that's more comfortable for you to change the caps lock key to something else on the other side of your keyboard, then I don't think you can, Marty. I think it's either control option and caps lock. I think those are the only two choices. You can't customize that experience. So what I would do, starry in your case is I would lock my voice over modifier key. There's not. What computer do you have? Because there should be a control on the right side of the spacebar.

14:36.510 --> 14:39.890
It is an air two is all I know.

14:40.460 --> 14:46.220
Interesting. And you don't have a control on the right side of your space bar, huh?

14:46.380 --> 14:52.980
No, it was very confusing because I'd never seen a computer like that before that didn't have a control.

14:53.060 --> 14:56.200
Is that a laptop or a desktop? Is that a laptop?

14:56.940 --> 14:58.660
It's a laptop, yep.

14:58.700 --> 15:00.308
Does it have a trackpad on it?

15:00.444 --> 15:02.440
Window? Yes, it has a trackpad.

15:03.020 --> 15:19.270
You can turn voiceover gestures on the trackpad and then you can use it and navigate through things like you would on your iPhone, you know, doing swipes and taps and stuff that might solve some of your problems. And on the right side of the keyboard is command and option. So that is correct. There is no control.

15:19.690 --> 15:24.234
Yeah, I'm looking right at it. There's no control. It's just command and option.

15:24.322 --> 16:00.496
I've never tried to use the control on the right side, so I just assumed it would be there. So what I would do in your case story, especially if you don't want to use the trackpad, is remember, you can lock your voiceover modifier keys with caps lock and semicolon or control option, semicolon, and then use your arrow keys as you normally would to navigate. And then if you need to pass a key through to the operating system that isn't handled by voiceover, you can use your voiceover modifier, caps lock or control option on the left hand side of the keyboard with the tab key, and that will let you pass the next keystroke through.

16:00.688 --> 16:10.102
So if the modifier keys are locked, I would just press tab and I then the key that I want to pass.

16:10.286 --> 17:01.990
Yep. So you could just press the tab key and then the key that you want to press. Unfortunately, if you're going to want to type though, you, and this might be a good use for quick nav because that might be, and I don't use quick nav and it's been a while since I used it on the Mac, but I believe you could also use quick nav to navigate the computer and not have to lock your voiceover modifier keys. Another option is you can use if you get the magic keyboard, like the external keyboard that has the number pad. It does have control and option on the right side. So that is the Apple Magic keyboard that. The full size keyboard. And that has control and option on both sides. That might also be a good thing there. It won't be your laptop keyboard, but yeah, you have to spend a little money, but that'll solve that problem.

17:03.150 --> 17:21.490
Well, I've got a Bluetooth keyboard that works with Android, Apple and Windows, so I could just give that a try. I just was asking because if there was like something people who use Macs do that I don't know about, I thought I'd ask first.

17:21.870 --> 17:25.838
Yeah, explore quick nav because I think that could solve some of your problems as well.

17:25.974 --> 17:51.926
Cool. Quick nav, quick mail. And then my other question, and then I'll be done, is, is there a way to connect my iPhone to my Mac? Because my, my charger cord has the proprietary iPhone connector that goes into the phone and a USB two on the other end. So is there like an adapter or something I can get.

17:52.078 --> 18:34.190
Just buy a USB c to lightning cable? Yeah. Oh, you can find those on Amazon really easily. They have them all over the place. I would suggest getting something that's decent, like something steel braided and possibly something from one of the companies like anchor or something like that. So you know the cable is going to last and be a good cable. And some of them are cheap. Yeah. And it's prime day today and tomorrow, so you might get a discount on one, but you. Some of them are really cheap. So make sure that you don't get one that's. Yeah, not steel graded, that may break or wear out really fast or not work. I typically don't anchor. Those are the two brands I usually buy from for those.

18:35.050 --> 18:36.266
Great. Anchor apple.

18:36.298 --> 18:43.990
Yeah. Still, you're dealing with lightning and if it's not a certified lightning, you may run into some issues. So that's why I'm saying anchor apple.

18:44.490 --> 18:45.390
Okay.

18:46.170 --> 18:48.230
All right. Good luck to you. Thanks a lot.

18:48.570 --> 18:51.990
Thank you. Next up is Beth.

18:52.410 --> 18:53.590
Hey, Beth.

18:54.010 --> 19:56.210
Hey. Yeah, I didn't go to convention. My family came, but hopefully next year I can go. But I was going to ask, has anybody heard of Duolingo? Because I'm trying to take Spanish, but I don't know, like when they say speak aloud, I don't know how to do that. And, and also the Spanish, you know, it's kind of like, I wish it could be in braille because it's kind of, you know, I don't really understand what they're saying. Maybe I could try a bluetooth head earbuds or something with that. But would, you know, like how to, how to use it, like how to, when they say speak aloud because, you know, I double tap on it and I try to speak, but, but it doesn't, like, do anything like Babel does. Like I heard advertisements that would say, you know, kind of give like a noise, like indicating that you're right.

19:56.870 --> 20:15.020
So I've never used, I've never used Duolingo. I know what it is. Yeah. I've never used duolingo. And it sounds like if, if I'm understanding your problem, you, you can't, it's not recognizing when you speak or you can't activate the speak button.

20:15.320 --> 20:21.264
Oh. Because somebody said Duolingo is better for the blind than like, babble.

20:21.392 --> 20:33.712
Well, hopefully someone who is tuned in has used Duolingo and they can provide some tips because I do not have an answer for you on that. So what I would do, Beth, is hang out. Hopefully someone will be able to share with you. Okay.

20:33.896 --> 20:39.720
Okay. And hey, my name is Miguel. I've used. I can tell you. Oh, okay, thanks.

20:40.100 --> 20:41.240
Go ahead, Miguel.

20:41.780 --> 21:43.470
Actually, if you can connect, bro. If you connect braille display to your phone, the spanish braille will come up on the braille display. And regarding your, like, hearing the sound, you got it right or wrong? Like when you click the, the button to speak, make sure. I'm not sure. You may have to go into your notifications and or into your settings to check if your microphone has access to Duolingo. Okay. And if. Yeah, believe, I believe that the record button has an accessibility issue in the latest updates, though. Oh, it does? Shoot. Yeah. Because I want be able to learn. I, I know they added math and music. I don't know if they, if it's reading music, but I want to be able to learn more spanish. Yeah. So. So the microphone or the record has an issue.

21:44.170 --> 21:54.750
You may. It may. But I would also go where Miguel was talking about, too, and check to make sure that you've given it permission to use your microphone because that could be preventing it from hearing you as well.

21:55.080 --> 22:06.376
Yeah. Okay. Now, most independent, how close. Sorry, you are depends on how close you are once you take the test. If you're positive, then you have to retest to see when you can go out again.

22:06.448 --> 22:07.176
Okay.

22:07.328 --> 22:09.180
So I would get two over.

22:09.680 --> 22:16.008
A test actually has two tests in it. Now can we mute penny, take it one day.

22:16.104 --> 22:20.824
And it's negative. So if we were both positive, we would each need two tests. Yeah, just a second.

22:20.952 --> 22:21.984
Oh, you want one?

22:22.072 --> 22:29.660
That's why I only want one if you're positive. But we might as well get enough. There we go.

22:30.040 --> 22:56.216
Thanks for you guys patience. Well, we got that. Appreciate you, Chanel. So, Beth? Yeah. I would definitely check your permissions on your microphone, see if that works, and then we'll go from there. Penny, just so you know, we muted you because you were unmuted, and that's why you got muted there again. So just wanted to give you a heads up on that. Beth, we're going to go on to the next hand and go from there, and hopefully you're able to get your duolingo to work for you. Thanks, miguel.

22:56.288 --> 23:14.100
But I was going to get asked about notifications because, like, I heart radio. I get a notification when Trump was shot that one time. I wanted to hear about it. I heard about on tv, but I couldn't get to the notification from I heart radio.

23:14.690 --> 23:20.642
Okay, I'm. I'm not sure what you're asking. So you got the notification, but you. It.

23:20.746 --> 23:42.192
But I wanted to listen on that. Do I just double tap on, like, whatever website I'm on, like, YouTube? I hear the notification. Do I just click on that or try to, like, maybe I need to go to I heart and like to say, allow notifications, like, maybe go in my settings or something.

23:42.346 --> 24:34.800
So if you want to get notifications from iHeart, you do need to go into your notifications in your settings and enable notifications for iHeart. Specifically, if you get a notification from iHeart that you want to tune into, you can open your notification center by tapping at the top of the screen with one finger and then three finger swipe down. That will open your notification center and show you a list of all of your notifications. Find the one from I heart and double tap on it. If it says I heart notifications collapsed, double tapping will not actually open that notification. It will just expand the I heart notifications and show you a list of notifications from I heart. So then you want to find the notification that you want to tap into and double tap on that, and that should then activate the stream for you.

24:34.970 --> 24:36.372
Okay, sounds good.

24:36.516 --> 24:37.820
Perfect, Beth. Glad to help.

24:37.860 --> 24:44.680
Thank you. And thanks Miguel, too. Oh, you're welcome. Next is Jane. Si.

24:44.980 --> 24:46.120
Hey, Jane.

24:46.700 --> 25:03.478
Hi. I just had a couple questions. One, I just gotta echo that. This generation I. The headphone Jack is no longer there. I'll echo set a headphone jack.

25:03.654 --> 25:07.570
I guess I'm wrong. Nope. The fifth generation is when they drop that.

25:08.710 --> 25:12.890
So then what do I do with older pieces of woodclip?

25:15.110 --> 25:24.130
Don't connect it to your fifth generation. There really isn't much what you could do if. Do you still have, like, an older echo dot?

25:24.510 --> 25:37.692
Oh, no. I changed everything in, but I didn't know that was a luxury. I thought they. Never mind.

25:37.796 --> 25:51.520
Yep. Yep. Unfortunately, it does not have that headphone jack, so that does limit it. There are. I believe there's something called the Echo flex, I think. I don't know if they still sell that, but I believe that has a headphone jack on it as well.

25:52.630 --> 26:01.330
Okay. Or can I just get one of those? Is it called transmitters? I don't know what they call them. Bluetooth can that.

26:01.630 --> 26:05.930
If you're going to do that, you might just want to get some Bluetooth earbuds.

26:06.350 --> 26:10.710
Yeah, I guess so. I don't know. It's a luxury. Okay.

26:10.750 --> 26:19.656
Yeah. So sorry about that, Jane. Hopefully you. Hopefully the sound quality makes it worth the upgrade. All right, Chanel, who do we got next?

26:19.728 --> 26:21.488
Next is Ibrahim.

26:21.664 --> 26:23.260
Hey, Ibrahim, how you doing?

26:24.200 --> 26:25.860
Hey, guys. How you doing?

26:26.480 --> 26:26.976
Good, good.

26:27.008 --> 26:57.520
I didn't go to ACB this year, but the canyon mentioned sounds cool. So look into it more. I am having a problem with Audible and the Aladdin devices. I am trying to connect audible to the device and I went. The app went into it. You connect the services. And for some reason when I go to Audible to sync it or connect it, it says this service is no longer available. And it's just.

26:59.580 --> 27:11.800
That's interesting. So when you go in to Audible, the service is not available. Is your audible email address and your Amazon email address the same?

27:11.860 --> 27:38.220
And it's different, but like, I like even just going into the place to like, add the audible account and not even, like, letting me go there, like, in the music and more area. It gives all the other services I hired, I'm handling everything. And then when I go to Audible, click on it says this service is like, not available offline or something for some reason.

27:38.710 --> 27:48.570
So making sure everything is updated on both ends, both the Amazon app and operating system on your device as well as the audible.

27:49.030 --> 27:51.886
Sorry, something was speaking. Could you repeat that, Marty?

27:52.078 --> 28:00.570
I said, did you make sure that the operating system, the app on your phone as well as audible is all updated to the most current.

28:00.870 --> 28:03.250
Yeah, all updated.

28:04.160 --> 28:17.232
So in this case, and I believe it would be an international call, unfortunately, in this case, I would reach out to audible customer service and ask them what you need to do to be able to get that to work with your Amazon Alexa devices.

28:17.416 --> 28:40.766
Okay, cool. Thanks. One other quick question. I think when I updated the phone or whatever, it changed my, like, generic ringtone. Whenever I get a phone call to, like the, the ringtone, I had something else. The way I can change the ringtone, like, for the entire phone, like when I.

28:40.958 --> 28:46.198
This on an iPhone, right, sorry. This is on an iPhone, correct?

28:46.294 --> 28:47.450
Yes. IPhone.

28:47.830 --> 29:13.882
Yeah. So you'd go into settings, then you would go into sounds phone, and then in there there's a list of all the different ring tone options and you can pick whichever one you want. And depending, they're not going to be the same from device, device, depending on the device and the operating system. So you're just going to have to kind of play around in there and see what's in there. But that's how you do it.

29:14.026 --> 29:18.270
And once I, once I set that one up, I got a phone call. It will stick to that ringtone.

29:18.770 --> 29:36.038
Yes. Yeah. I mean, unless you have customizations because you can go into your contacts and you can make different ringtones and things like that. Yeah, that's how you do it. Once you change it and you pick one, it'll ring the default ring, whatever you chose, anytime your phones.

29:36.214 --> 29:42.490
Yeah, that's, that's what I meant. Thank you so much, guys. And next up we have Jeff.

29:44.190 --> 31:22.938
Hey, Jeff, how are you? Hey, good day, gentlemen and ladies. For anybody that uses SiriusX, it's recently, I don't know about recently, there's like a pretty big UI change and just wondering if there was a way to play content using Siri, which would be really helpful. So I don't know if this is an option because I don't use Sirius XM. Michael D. You do, though, don't you? I am. I'm about to go look in the shortcuts app and see if there's any your mind was going and something to keep in mind. If you can use Siri to use any kind of an app, then it will be made available in the shortcuts app. So recently I, and I'm going to have a podcast about this. I use audible for my a lady, and I say play my book. And I can just now I created a shortcut that says play my book and it plays my latest book on the audible app. So I'm wondering, but it does not look like there is any actions in the shortcuts app for Sirius XM hard. Okay. Yeah. And I do actually use SiriusXM as well. And I haven't been able to have Siri do any of the things. You got to go into the app and pick what you want and all that. Although I will say if you have a Aladdin device, you can put your SiriusXM on there and you can use your voice on SiriusXM for that if that's what you want to do. If you haven't.

31:22.994 --> 31:24.074
Am I unmuted?

31:24.242 --> 31:26.070
You are. Bel, can you raise your hand?

31:26.370 --> 31:26.778
I do.

31:26.794 --> 31:51.362
Yes, you are. Okay. Okay. So. Yep. We will get to you here in a quick moment. Appreciate it. And to answer your question there, Jeff, unfortunately, it sounds like you can't, although you can do quite a bit with shortcuts. I actually have mine set up so it can give me details about a lot of my health apps as well. So appreciate it. And sorry we weren't able to help you there, Chanel, who do we got next?

31:51.506 --> 32:56.760
All right, and Julianna is quite a few hands away. But let's go to iPhone, who I accidentally lowered your hand earlier. Whoever is iPhone, please unmute and let us know who you are. Chanel. Oh, yes, Ann, hi, this is Anne. We haven't figured out how to change my name back. I'll just change it for now. Real quick. Go ahead with your question, please. Nobody can seem to help me. I got a new computer because the one I had would not read my emails. It read like the first line. That was it. So it was too old. Everybody said it was like eight years old. You should get a new computer. So I did. I got another computer and it won't, it won't let me put outlook on it no matter what we do. And I've had several people look at it and it won't let me put Outlook on it. So they put Thunderbird on it, if anybody's ever heard of that. And I've had several people try to help me figure out how to even work Thunderbird, and it's not that easy.

32:57.300 --> 33:14.120
Well, they have a new, like Outlook. I don't know if it's called Outlook, but it's like an express type mail app that comes on the computer. I forget exactly what it's called. But if you want Outlook, the full version, you need to go and have 365. That's how you get Outlook.

33:14.550 --> 33:19.614
Well, I got Microsoft 365 put on, somebody put that on you for me.

33:19.782 --> 33:29.210
That's how you would download, you'd have to download the outlet, the outlook on your computer from your 365 account, and then you would log in with your credentials and you'd be good to go without. Look then.

33:29.630 --> 33:35.742
So you can't just go on the Internet to outlook.com, put your password in. It won't. It won't.

33:35.926 --> 33:49.912
You can do that, but it won't put outlook on your computer. If you do that you need to download the Outlook app through the 365 account and put your credentials in and then you would have outlook on your computer. And let me ask you a question, are you using Jaws?

33:50.096 --> 33:50.888
Yes.

33:51.064 --> 34:19.800
So I just did a quick Google search for Thunderbird with Jaws and I found several tutorials on Google on using Thunderbird with Jaws. So I highly recommend exploring that. And that might solve some of the problems you're having with Thunderbird as well. There are some people who prefer Thunderbird to Outlook because it is lighter weight and takes less system resources. I am not a Thunderbird user. I do use Outlook. And as Marty was saying, you do have to download Outlook to your computer.

34:20.100 --> 34:22.252
Oh, you can't just go to outlook.com.

34:22.396 --> 35:07.901
Well you can, but that's not going to give you Outlook on your computer. When you go to outlook.com you'll need to become, you will need to familiarize yourself with the Outlook web app keystrokes and you will then need to toggle between your virtual viewer with Jasky Z like Zulu to read the messages and then jaws key Z again to turn it off to be able to arrow through your message list and you can get help. Well like if you have someone that can help you get outlook on your computer, once you have it downloaded from your 365 account and logged into it, once it's on your computer, every time you open it, it'll just like check your email and do all that. You won't have to go to the web or you won't have to put in your credentials every time you want to use it. It'll all just be right on your computer.

35:07.965 --> 35:17.430
I mean, I want to set up the first computer companies look at this and they can't figure it out. Just to let you know, we have eight raised hands. Oh, I'm sorry.

35:18.050 --> 36:16.740
No problem. The one other thing I was going to say is if you bought a computer and you've got some sort of demo version of Outlook or Microsoft on your computer, you're going to want to delete all of those to the 365 account and download it. Because if you have a demo version of Outlook or any of the Microsoft office items on your computer, then it will not download the 365 stuff. They're going to like interfere with each other. So what you need to do is make sure you do not have a demo of any of those things on your computer. If you do, you need to remove them. Once you do that, then you can go to your 365 account and download outlook or anything demos without an issue. Word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook. Oh, you cannot download the 365 from your account until you delete those, otherwise they will interfere with each other. So you need to remove the demo versions off your computer first. Then you can go download the versions from 365 account and log in with your credentials and you'll be good to go.

36:17.280 --> 36:18.536
Okay, I'll get somebody to look.

36:18.568 --> 36:20.816
And we're gonna have to move on because we're running out of time.

36:20.968 --> 36:22.540
Next is Miguel.

36:23.080 --> 36:24.208
Hey, Miguel.

36:24.384 --> 36:40.020
Hello. I just like, I didn't really have a tech question, but it was more like a comment if you guys had any issues with it. So on the Amazon search bar, unfortunately now they broke the items where you cannot use braille on screen input anymore with your iPhones.

36:41.400 --> 36:45.648
So you can't use braille screen input when you're doing research on the Amazon app.

36:45.784 --> 36:47.256
No, you can't do that anymore.

36:47.408 --> 36:54.136
Good, good call on that and thank you for letting us know. And definitely some feedback for the Amazon accessibility team.

36:54.328 --> 36:55.776
Do you know how to get a hold of them?

36:55.928 --> 37:00.000
I can look up a phone number for you. Miguel and I will share that in a couple of minutes.

37:00.160 --> 37:00.456
Cool.

37:00.488 --> 37:02.888
North, who got next now?

37:03.024 --> 37:51.140
Next is Lynn. Hello. I did not go to convention, but my roommate did and now I have Covid. But I did go attend virtually and it was very good. I enjoyed that. So anyway, the question I had though was I asked this before and I'm sorry, I could not remember the answer. There was a great deal on Apple Watch last week, so I bought it. And when I got it home, I, you know, I paired it with my, my phone and of course it went up to my Apple account and everything. But now I keep getting this notification on my Mac still after a week that says, you know, you have a new device connected, how do I get rid of that notification?

37:51.680 --> 37:58.696
You would go to settings and notifications. Then in notifications you'll have a list of all the things on your app.

37:58.728 --> 38:02.262
So this, I'm sorry, this is on my Mac, right?

38:02.446 --> 38:05.130
You would go to the Apple up at the top.

38:05.470 --> 38:06.166
Okay.

38:06.238 --> 38:27.142
And then you would go to settings and then you would go to notifications. And then you'll see in there a list of everything on your computer. You can either turn off all notifications or you can customize each individual thing. So say, like you want one thing to do, audible noise and then maybe some other visual so I can't just.

38:27.166 --> 38:28.910
Get rid of that one notification.

38:29.070 --> 38:39.346
Yeah, I think you're misunderstanding the question there, Marty. If I understand correctly, what you're trying to do is get rid of the notification that says that a new device has been added to your Apple account.

38:39.378 --> 38:39.954
Yes. Yes.

38:40.042 --> 38:54.470
So if you open your notification center and you get to the list of your notifications, do vo command space to bring up the actions on that specific notification and then down arrow to dismiss or close, and that should remove that notification.

38:55.210 --> 39:00.984
Okay. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. That is all I had. Thank you. I hope you guys have a great.

39:01.162 --> 39:05.680
Thanks a lot. What do we got next now, Lori. Hey, Lori.

39:06.060 --> 39:30.900
Hi, guys. So I did not go to the convention, but I did vote by phone, and I also got my election results by email. My quick question is, how do I get rid of the notification that says whenever I charge up my iPhone, it says charging on hold, and I want to get rid of that notification. So what do I need to do? Thank you.

39:31.020 --> 39:33.212
Says charging on hold.

39:33.396 --> 39:43.800
Charging on hold. Charging will result. It says charging on hold. Charging will resume when iPhone reaches internal body temperature.

39:44.540 --> 39:45.948
Sounds like it's getting hot.

39:46.084 --> 40:12.328
And ever since iOS 17 came along with its cohorts, I've been getting that notification, and I want to get that off. Have you checked. This is Herbie. Have you checked the. Because my first thought is you have the power saver mode on. That was my first thought when you said the charging and hold, but now that you're mentioning the temperature problem I have in a low power mode. Yes. And yet it still does that. No, that's not what I'm thinking of.

40:12.464 --> 40:18.568
Yeah, I honestly think there's something wrong with your hardware. That's what it sounds like to me.

40:18.624 --> 40:18.936
Okay.

40:18.968 --> 40:28.416
You should not see a notification. You shouldn't see a notification mentioning temperature unless you're in a hot environment or very cold environment.

40:28.608 --> 40:29.264
So that.

40:29.312 --> 40:44.740
That sounds troubling to me. I would reach out to Apple, Apple tech support, not accessibility, but Apple tech support, and tell them that you're receiving this notification and they can help you with diagnosing what's going on. But unfortunately, I think you have a problem with your phone.

40:45.200 --> 41:05.200
Okay, well, my phone is four years old, so I really don't want to switch it to something else. But if I have to, I have to. It's just. It's just annoying. But thanks for. Thanks for your advice. And if it continues, I'll contact Apple tech support and find out what's up. But thanks.

41:05.320 --> 41:06.744
Thanks, Lori. Who do you got next?

41:06.792 --> 41:11.488
Now next is. Gregory, can you hear me?

41:11.584 --> 41:13.260
Yep. Yep.

41:14.000 --> 41:20.536
I didn't go to convention. Jane was asking about an echo device with a 3.5. That what she's asking?

41:20.608 --> 41:21.218
Yeah.

41:21.384 --> 41:28.890
The echo pop has it. I bought one. It's a bare bones dot. You can get it for $17 on Amazon today.

41:29.470 --> 41:38.206
Good. Works good. Yeah, I forgot about the echo pop. That is a good call in there. And that does have a headphone jack, so thank you, Gregory. Appreciate that.

41:38.358 --> 41:43.790
Yeah. I want to ask you guys, anybody has using picky bot yet? What do you think of it?

41:43.950 --> 41:58.196
I've used it. It's. It's. It's interesting. The limitation of 30 seconds can be frustrating. And it's a. It's one of those apps. You might want to pay for it because then it is less bubbly and less enthusiastic.

41:58.348 --> 42:00.316
The paid one is the same way.

42:00.508 --> 42:07.668
Oh. But. But you can go in and disable that. The personality. Personality, yeah, yeah.

42:07.844 --> 42:09.180
It's still bubbly, but.

42:09.260 --> 42:10.316
Okay, I got it.

42:10.348 --> 42:10.748
I got it.

42:10.764 --> 42:13.780
To go farther than 30 seconds. Video description?

42:13.820 --> 42:14.276
Yeah.

42:14.388 --> 42:21.246
Okay. Interesting. Thank you. Thanks, Gregory. Who do we got next now, next.

42:21.318 --> 42:23.110
Up is Pam coffee.

42:23.270 --> 42:24.094
Hey, Pam.

42:24.222 --> 44:40.580
Hello. I'll try to make this very quick. I did convention virtually. Sorry about my microwave beeping, but I did convention virtually, so fortunately, I did not get Covid. But to answer Ibrahim's question about the. The ringtone changing. The ringtone. Yes, you do go to open settings, go to sounds and haptics and the ringtone. And if you're like me and you like the older ringtones better than you like the new ones, you're going to scroll to the very end of that list, because when the list comes up, it's all the new ones. You go to the end of the list, and there's a button called classic, and you go. You double tap that, and that pulls up all the older ringtones, and you choose whichever one you want. And for Lori, yes, I get that notification. Charging on hold. Charging will resume when iPhone returns to normal temperature. And you get that if your battery is old and it's having to struggle, which mine is, I'm about to retire my phone. I dread that. But I'm about to do it. It really needs a new battery. And so, yes, you will get that notification if your phone gets warm, abnormally warm, from trying to charge the battery to full strength. And it'll usually stop doing that charging. It'll let it get up to about 80%, and then it. Then you'll get that notification if it is abnormally warm. And if you just if you unplug it for a few minutes, let it sort of cool down, try to minimize what you're doing on the phone if possible. That's not always possible, but unplug it for a few minutes, let it cool down, and then plug it back in and it will again start charging.

44:40.960 --> 45:09.156
And I want to jump in here really quick and say, for those of you who are iPhone se users who like that home button, if you need a new phone or looking to get a new phone, you want to stick with that iPhone se, you should hurry up and do it because I have a feeling it's going to be discontinued here probably at the end of the year, beginning of next year. So if you really, really want that home button and you need a new phone and that's what you want, you should think about getting one sooner than later.

45:09.308 --> 45:18.800
And the thing is, even the se, the third generation, is already two years old. Okay, next up, we have Nora.

45:19.380 --> 45:20.252
Hey, Nora.

45:20.356 --> 45:32.534
Yeah, hi. I have not thought Nora, hello. I want to convince you virtually, and thank God I have no Covid. Anyway, my question is, can you hear me?

45:32.622 --> 45:33.358
Yep.

45:33.534 --> 45:35.830
Yeah. Okay. I thought you couldn't hear me.

45:35.910 --> 45:36.918
Yes, I can hear you.

45:37.014 --> 45:46.210
Okay, great. My question is, how do I get, you know, on my iPad, I have ACB link, but how can you get that on my Android phone?

45:47.110 --> 46:00.070
Michael Doyce, ACB link for Android. So ECB link for Android is currently not available. That might be re evaluated in the future, but at the current time, it is not available in Google Play.

46:00.570 --> 46:06.810
Okay. And I have play store also. So thank you very much.

46:06.970 --> 46:07.910
You're welcome.

46:09.290 --> 46:11.674
All right, next up we have Rhonda.

46:11.842 --> 46:16.030
Hey, Rhonda, how are you? We've got twelve minutes.

46:17.070 --> 47:42.090
Good afternoon. This is actually my first time on this call, and I got, I have a very interesting issue. I sent out a group text to Michael and Allison Smitherman in the morning. And since they were at convention, it, it will not alert me when they respond to the text. Now, individually, I will get a alert saying that, you know, they sent me a text when I went into messages and I just, it's showing, it's telling me that, I don't know. It says when I, when I went into message messages, I did a search for Allison and nothing came up. But when I did a, as to no issues. But when I did a search on Michael, it said, do not disturb notification sound off. But like I said, if he sends me an individual text, that's not a problem. But they are getting the notification that I'm sending them.

47:42.130 --> 48:14.180
The text when you have a group text, you can actually mute the group. So you might want to check your settings and make sure it's not muted. So if you open up your messages list and you put your finger on the group message, you can flick up or down, and it will tell you whether the group is muted or not muted. If it is muted, you can turn muted off, and then you'll get the same notifications as you would for everybody else. That would be the first thing I would check.

48:14.600 --> 48:17.380
Okay. Where do I find this group?

48:18.080 --> 48:56.906
If you open your messages, you'll have a list of all of messages. Go ahead, Michael. Yeah. Your Internet's delayed. If you open up messages, you'll have a list of all of your messages. And you'll find the group with Michael and Alison in ithood. And when you find that, not using the search, but flicking through the list of messages and you find the one that has Michael and Allison in it, flick down on that message. Instead of flicking to the left, you'll flick down. And I believe you'll want to do it twice. And that will let you know if notifications have been disabled. And then you just double tap and that will re enable them for you.

48:57.098 --> 48:58.738
Okay. Flick down. Okay.

48:58.794 --> 49:01.306
Or it might say muted or not muted.

49:01.378 --> 49:05.302
So muted. It says muted.

49:05.426 --> 49:11.250
That's why you're not getting the notifications, because it's so flick down and then double tap. Unmuted.

49:11.830 --> 49:14.110
So flick down and double tap.

49:14.270 --> 49:15.102
Yep.

49:15.286 --> 49:17.022
Okay. Thank you so very much.

49:17.086 --> 49:21.570
Yeah. As soon as you hear muted, then you double tap on it and it will unmute it for you.

49:21.910 --> 49:33.170
Okay, great. I'll try that. Thank you. And our next hand is a repeat if you. And we have about eight minutes. So would you like to take that?

49:33.740 --> 49:34.620
Yep. Let's go ahead.

49:34.660 --> 49:36.000
All right. Stacy.

49:36.540 --> 49:37.640
Hey, Stacey.

49:38.300 --> 50:01.560
Yeah. I just thought of something. When I buy that braille sense six, I was thinking about buying a computer. I'm wondering what was a, what was a computer do for me that a braille sense six won't do? I know it's going to give me a lot of websites, but what will the computer do that a breast sense six won't do?

50:02.470 --> 50:50.858
That's a loaded question. Because they're two totally different devices. A computer is going to give you the full features of a desktop computer, whereas a braille sent six is based on Android. So it's going to be more like a mobile phone slash tablet instead of a computer. Your user experience with the Windows computer would be different because the keystrokes will be different if you're doing more advanced, like more advanced work like word processing and audio editing and stuff, then a computer is going to be better. If all you need to do is take notes and use your note taker, your braille sense note taker, then that'll work just fine for you. They're, they're just two totally different categories. I don't think you can compare them.

50:51.034 --> 50:53.150
What about the website issues?

50:53.810 --> 51:18.966
You're gonna, I personally would say that web browsing is gonna be better on a computer. It can be done on a braille sense. I have a customer who, when we send a newsletter, she's not, she typically isn't able to read our newsletter on the braille cent six because of the way that the email is rendered on the device. So I think it's going to be two different things when you're comparing those.

51:19.118 --> 51:27.348
Oh, really? Because I was going to download braille files from the braille sense six and things like that. That's what I was going to use it for.

51:27.454 --> 51:33.864
If that's all you're using it for, then that would work fine. But you asked what the difference is in a computer and a braille sent.

51:33.912 --> 51:44.328
Six and the links, to get to links, you know, and the braille sent six. I heard they can do that better at the braille sense six and with one I got now the u two and things like that.

51:44.504 --> 51:53.496
Okay, that, that would make sense. But a u two isn't a computer and you asked the difference and they braille sense six in a computer. So I was answering the question you asked.

51:53.568 --> 51:59.616
Right, right. We have another raised hand if you wanted to take that before we have to go or not.

51:59.728 --> 52:01.200
Yeah, let's go ahead and jump on that.

52:01.240 --> 52:01.896
Sorry.

52:02.048 --> 52:03.208
Hey, starry.

52:03.384 --> 52:20.460
Hey. So sometimes on my dot device I get a notification while I'm playing music saying that nothing is playing when I try to like or dislike a song. And I was wondering if you encountered that and how I could get rid of that issue.

52:21.730 --> 52:24.026
So this is on your Amazon dot.

52:24.178 --> 52:24.842
Yes.

52:24.986 --> 52:30.522
And you're playing a song and then you tell it to like that song and it says nothing is playing.

52:30.706 --> 52:36.070
Yes. However, it will pause and it will play and it will go to the next or previous song.

52:36.450 --> 52:48.218
That is a unique one. I'm sure. I'm sure others may have had experience with that because that seems like Amazon doesn't know what it's doing. What app are you using to play music with?

52:48.274 --> 52:50.386
Are you using Apple Amazon music?

52:50.578 --> 52:57.390
Oh, yeah. That should not be the case. I do not have an answer on you for that one. Sorry. Sorry.

52:57.850 --> 53:00.070
I have stumped you. All right, I'm done.

53:02.170 --> 54:18.800
Sorry. Yep. Appreciate. And with that, we're just about at a time. Yes. So I think Marty's Internet bit the dust. So I will go ahead and wrap it up. So with that, we are about out of time. So we're going to go ahead and wrap up and say thank you for joining us. Thank you to Nikki for streaming us both on ACV Media Five and in the clubhouse. Thanks for Chanel's hard work being our host.
