Need tips for using your Amazon Alexa? Join Lucy on All About Lady A on the second Thursday of the month for simple tricks to get the most out of your A Lady device. Listen on the Unmute Presents podcast feed. See you there. Oh yeah, did I mention you can also check out Unmute show for all past episodes and to get more information about what we've got going on. Hey, it's Michael here and today I want to talk to you about a productivity hack on the Mac. Hey, that's got a little rhyme about it. Chris and I talked about this tool on April's Mac Chat, but I want to go a little bit more in depth about how you can use it and customize it to fit your needs. So this is LaunchBar, and LaunchBar is a utility that gives you the ability to find pretty much anything on and off your computer. Sound fun? Well, let's talk about one of its features. And then in the very near future, especially for club members, I'll be dropping a more in depth tutorial of navigating and using LaunchBar effectively. So if you're interested in learning more about Launch Bar, check out the Mac chat from Thursday, April 17th at Unmute Show. Today though, we're going to introduce you to Clipboard History. Now, Clipboard History is an amazing utility that I've made some modifications to myself. However, here's how it works. If you go into the Launch bar preferences by pressing Command space once you have it set up and then pressing Command comma, you'll get into the preferences and if you find the toolbar you'll locate the Clipboard option and then there's a checkbox that says Enable Clipboard History and I believe by default it is unchecked. Directly after that is a capacity option which allows you to pick how long do you want your Clipboard history to remain? So you can pick from 10, 20, 30, 40, 100 items or one day, two days, three days, or one week. I have mine set to remember my clipboard for the last week. You can clear the history if you want from this option and you can also ignore specific applications. So for example, you may want to ignore 1Password so your passwords don't stay in your Clipboard history. There's an option that says Preserve history across restart that works if you appropriately reboot your Mac. If you have to force reboot it, you will probably lose your Clipboard History option. Enable Clip Merge is a checkbox that I check. By default it is not checked. What this allows you to do is copy anything on your Mac text Files, et cetera. And then if you want to append to what's on your clipboard, you simply select select the next item and do Command cc. So hold your command key down and tap the letter C twice. It tells you that right here. Press Command C twice to merge the copied data with the current Clipboard context. You can modify the keystroke here in order to show the Clipboard history. And I'll give you another way here in a moment. I have changed mine because by default the keystroke is Command backslash. If you're a 1Password user, you probably know why I changed that. I did choose a keystroke that I think used to conflict with 1Password, but I believe I went in and changed that as well. So Command option Backslash is my Clipboard history keystroke. There's also some other keystrokes here that you can take a look at. Control option Command V, for example, will paste and remove from the clipboard. So that's the preferences for Clipboard history. Now, as I mentioned, you can press Command option backslash if you change your keystrokes to mine or Command backslash for the default. And this puts you into a list of all of your copied text. And I know, for example, that I copied an Amazon link and that's happened in the last week. If I just type in Amazon, it's going to put me into list of all of the Amazon links that I have copied and I can use my down arrow to find the one that I want. And let's say that I just want to copy this one to my clipboard again, I can hit Command C and it will copy it. Or if I want to paste it in the current edit box or the draft that I'm in or Safari's web browser and Focus is there, I can simply press the enter key and it then inserts that for me in that edit box. If you don't want to set a keystroke. The last thing I want to mention in today's digital bite is if you launch launch bar with I use command space and you type in clip. Well, if I type in cli, it says Clipboard history action. And if you tap the right arrow key on Clipboard history action, you're in a list of all of the items that are in your clipboard because it's brought to the clipboard history list. So now you can type in things like community and hey look, there's all of the items that I've mentioned that are related to Community in my clipboard. So I hope you found that to be a little bit useful. LaunchBar is a very powerful tool. As I said, in the very near future, I'm not promising a date, but in the very near future I'm going to create a more in depth Guide on using LaunchBar. And if you check. Check out the show notes. Yeah, check out the show notes for this digital bite. And I'll include Damasi's 37 minute tutorial on configuring settings in LaunchBar. Have a beautiful day.

Hey all. Marty here and let me show you how to make it easier to share contact information. We've all been in the situation where you're somewhere, you meet someone or you need to pass someone your contact information. There's a lot of people around, cars, traffic, all the things and it's just way too loud to try to pull that information using voiceover, listen to it and then repeat it back to the person you're trying to get the info to. So here is a much easier way to do that. Let's say you want to share your own contact. You would go to Contacts and open that up and then you would go to your own name and then you would swipe about halfway down the screen to share contact. Then you double click there and then you will get a prompt that shows up and this is really cool. It's going to have all of your information there. But let's say you only want to share your first name, last name and maybe your phone number. You don't need to give them your email address or maybe your home address or any other pertinent private information that's in your contact. To the left of each item there's going to be a little checkbox. If you check it, it will share that information. If you uncheck it, then it will not share that information. So you check or not check the information you want to share. And once you do that, then it will provide you a way to text message, email whatever it is to the person you're trying to share that information with. So it's a great way to be able to share your contact. Pick and choose what information you want to give or not give and makes life much easier when it's a really loud environment or you're out and about or any of those things. So give that a try. And if you have any other questions, comments or anything else, you can email us at feedbackmute show. Check out our website at Unmute show and see what we got going on in Club Unmute and all of those good things. Anyway, enjoy and we'll see you next time.

Hello, everyone. It's Chris back here with a digital bite. And this time I would like to introduce you to an app that I just, just discovered called Patreon. Now, I've heard of the website Patreon, but I really never did anything with it. I never went on there and supported anyone. And I had also never checked out the app, but there's an author writer that I follow on Mastodon, and their name is George Penny, P E N N E Y and they live in New Zealand. And they have such wonderful vignettes, and they're so articulate and descriptive. You can just imagine every sou, you know, a feeling, scent, temperature in the air, you know, just whatever you want to make out of it. But they paint such a wonderful picture of the little vignettes as they're walking about in their little town in New Zealand. And so oftentimes, at the very, very end, they will mention, oh, if you want to buy the author a coffee or you'd like to support their work on Patreon, and then they list the link. And I thought, you know, I just love these, and I know how it is to be a creator. I have a little website and every once in a while I sell something on there, but I don't work very hard at. And I just. I know how it is when you get a sale and you're so excited that someone supports your work. So I thought, I'll just go and check out this Patreon thing. And so I went on the website and there were some subscription options and different things, but what it did say was to go ahead and download the app. So I did, and then it asked me to sign in or sign up. And so I decided to sign in with Apple because that would be easiest. And so when I did that, I was presented with some different, as I say, subscription options. And so I chose to support the author for a year. They gave a 20% discount, and you could subscribe or support them for, you know, $5 a month, or you could do $4 a month at a discount for a year. So I did that, and then I found that they showed up in the feed in the Patreon app. And the app is very easy to use. So I thought I would give you just a little tour and say, if you ever want anybody's creative work, it's a really fun place. So I have George Penny now on Mastodon. It says Georgia Penny because it's all one word. But I examined it, and it's actually George Penny so I have George Penny's feed pulled up here and on the bottom of the app here it has my main feed. And then if I double tap on one of the posts, that is one of the most recent. I was just going to let you hear how delightful this is and then I'll just show you a few more things about the app. So here's the post by George Penny from a couple days ago.

11:32.724 --> 11:43.548
A man, 50s, wearing a suit suspenders with an impressively curled mustache, is explaining to junior colleagues 20s how the game Space Invaders worked. Suddenly they're on a mission to the old school gaming arcade around the corner to play.

11:43.684 --> 11:45.596
That's one paragraph I swipe to the right.

11:45.668 --> 12:41.680
A tiny human too, has decided that the very big shaggy dog sleeping next to her parents table is the perfect combination of snuggling and snoozing spot. Big shaggy dog isn't moving. Instead she's wagging her tail against the ground to tell her humans that everything's fine. Lovely A woman in a fluffy red jumper is sipping white wine and chatting to a friend. She says, I don't mind shopping as long as I don't have to buy anything. Who wants to shop if they have to get something? Not me. Big shaggy dog is a woman. A man, 50s, in a leather jacket and work boots is walking down the street and suddenly pauses to dead sneeze with tremendous gusto. Numerous people nearby laugh and say bless you. Meanwhile, his partner is fascinating as he says, what? What's the problem? A couple twenties are sitting at a bench table in front of a kebab shop. Their tiny new human is sleeping in a carrier they've set on the table, and as they eat their food, they're quietly talking, resting their heads against each other sleepily. The vibe is a sweet contentment. Any typos spotted in this post are gigantic sneezing exclamation points. If spotted, please don't make them or they'll insist you go with them to the nearest arcade where they assure you they'll kick your arse at a game they haven't played since they were a kid.

12:41.840 --> 12:56.764
How much fun is that? I lost focus for just a half a second. My finger touched something else. But as you can tell, you can swipe through each little snippet, each little little vignette and you have a paragraph. And so then below this attachment PNG.

13:08.676 --> 13:20.940
End of the screen. Up above in the upper left hand corner there is a share button so you could copy the link, you could share the post and it's really cool. So if I go back to the.

13:20.980 --> 13:22.500

13:24.400 --> 13:26.420
I'm going to the back button at home.

13:26.720 --> 13:28.264
George Penny spotted.

13:28.392 --> 14:09.956
Okay, so now we're back on my feed. So then there's a place where you can select all creators which would be the George Penny item that I have here. And then underneath George Penny's recent post there are other creators who are like minded or who are in the same genre as George Penny. Creatives, story writers, that sort of thing. And or you could swipe to the next creator that you've included in your Patreon feed. And so if I George Penny spotted.

14:09.988 --> 14:18.804
On the very rainbow. All creators button, there's the all creators button, account menu button, there's my account menu creators list. All creators one of three adjustable so.

14:18.812 --> 14:23.260
You hear one of three. So this is one of those adj value where I can adjust the value.

14:23.640 --> 14:25.760
I'll create George Penny 2 of 3.

14:25.880 --> 15:34.636
So all creators would be George Penny plus anyone else related. And then here's George Penny and then here's a really fun one. I found anti chef 3 of 3 anti chef. When I searched for cooking I came up with a lot of results and one of them Was this delightful YouTube/creator here who also has a Patreon feed. And he is not a chef. He reads cookbooks but he's willing to tell you about his flops and his experiments. And he has a really cool new series called Spine and Dine. In other words, he just grabs a cookbook off the shelf, opens it and prepares something. Now I'm sure he has a plan in mind but anyway it's really fun and so I'm having a great time. Some of these things you can subscribe to for free, which I did for the Anti Chef. And I could get more content if I subscribed as little as a dollar a month usually. And then you can get more content unlocked. But there are free tiers but also, you know, not as much content of course. Now at the bottom of the screen.

15:34.748 --> 15:36.364

16:05.302 --> 16:48.600
So I typed in the word cooking. So all of the cooking type Patreon listings come up here. And oftentimes these folks have YouTube channels and so you can go on their YouTube channel as well and there. But you'll find a lot more content on Patreon a lot of times. And then you can also get curated content, special content that you wouldn't get normally on YouTube. And then if you do pay for the subscription, it does allow you to actually email the author and so that's pretty cool. So if you're looking for a way to support Creative Arts, the people who create them, and support their livelihood, Patreon is a great place to go. And the app is completely accessible. Enjoy it.
