00:13.840 --> 02:41.820
Los Angeles, California, PRESENT day as the second largest city in the U.S. los Angeles is mostly known as being the home of Hollywood. But it's much more than that. The City of Angels. A city of immigrants, it attracts those chasing something bigger than themselves. Los Angeles is a place of great potential. There's an electricity in the air. Everyone's trying to get somewhere. Maybe you work a job during the day, practice an art at night. Maybe you enjoy the sun and surf while enjoying the benefits of being in a major city where anything can happen. Or maybe you're just trying to get by living with two other roommates in a small studio apartment in the Silver Lake Atwater Los Felice neighborhood, which might actually be Frogtown. For example. It has its own boulevard of broken dreams. Souls look at swallowed up by corporations or corrupt individuals. Or simply people that miss that one magical moment when those wishes could have come true, but their stars didn't quite line up. It's no wonder. It has its share of ghosts, ghouls and monsters. Things that prey on those hopes and dreams, both supernatural and human. Here in Los Angeles, dreams found and deferred live and die here every day. One such resting place is the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, just a bit south of the infamous Walk of Fame. You can wander in there and see tombstones of stars from yesteryear pass by, elaborate mausoleums with famous names on the archways outside. You can even enjoy an outdoor film screening there in the summertime. But you don't have to be a celebrity to be buried here. On this night, a figure wearing a black hoodie and dark pants wanders down the concrete path long past the hours one can wander. They reach a headstone and stop. They shine a light on it with their smartphone as if to read the name on the inscription. The figure then begins to mutter words, moving their arms in large circles in front of the plot. Green energy flows from their fingers and worms down into the dirt below. Suddenly, the green energy tendrils pull up. A silhouette of a humanoid form hovering there in the night. Get your revenge. The figure whispers to the spirit. The spirit flies off towards the heart of Hollywood before turning completely invisible to the naked eye. Remind me, Chandler, when do you get up? Is it kind of flexible when you get up, Chandler?

02:42.110 --> 02:51.230
Uh, yeah. I mean, it definitely depends on what gig or lack thereof I have on any given day.

02:52.030 --> 02:57.230
Okay, and you get to choose. Do you have a gig today or not?

02:57.390 --> 03:02.270
I do have a gig making balloon animals at the Grove.

03:02.750 --> 03:04.910
Gonna do it. What? Is your battery on your phone?

03:04.910 --> 03:05.594
28.

03:05.746 --> 03:25.480
28% you get a text. This is a friend of yours, Razortully. He is one of your friends that you meet with. Every so often he sends you a text. He says there's something he wants you to see over at the Magic Palace. It's kind of urgent. Like, he looks like he really wants you to come by and, and check this out. What do you do? What do you all do?

03:25.480 --> 03:48.060
Well, you know, it's rough. I. I hate leaving a gig, but considering this is really sort of a self imposed street performance and I can pretty much only make the dog. I will put this aside and I will shoot up Fairfax to Franklin and over to the Magic palace and check it out.

03:48.060 --> 03:54.220
Great. So you're shooting over there, and then Ricky and Hal, you're on your regular day here doing your thing.

03:54.460 --> 03:55.020
I am.

03:55.580 --> 04:27.270
Great. Chandler, you arrive outside the Magic Palace. That is what it is in our universe. No relation to anything in the real Los Angeles. So you pull up and Razor's outside of the Magic Palace. The only reason I'm saying this, it took me years to figure out what this is. The step of repeat is that big thing where the logos are and people take photos in front of many years. I'm like, what the hell is a step repeat? That's what a step repeat is. He's outside there and you can see there's. There, he's out there. There's a few security guards out front there and they're looking at something on the, on the exterior. What do you, what do you do?

04:27.270 --> 04:35.800
I. I reverse the magic roller skates on my shoes back up.

04:36.200 --> 04:41.320
You have the shoes that have the. Do you have the shoes that have the wheels in them?

04:41.400 --> 04:42.120
Wheelies.

04:42.520 --> 04:59.800
They're wheelies. Yeah, I mean, they're wheelies, but they don't work very well. So I just, you know, sprinkle a little magic on them to actually make them efficient. And I'm. I see my buddy Raise. What's up? Raise. What's, what's the haps? What's the big urgency?

05:00.390 --> 05:12.470
So you see in front of you, Chandler, spray painted across the step and repeat here it says revenge tonight in red spray paint. He eyes the other security guards and he says, follow me, Chandler. I want to show you something.

05:12.470 --> 05:15.110
Oh, revenge is playing tonight. I hear he's good.

05:15.430 --> 05:19.910
He nods. He looks like he's trying not to say something in front of these other security guards.

05:19.910 --> 05:26.420
Okay, are you taking me into the second level accessible entrance through the front door.

05:27.130 --> 05:49.370
So he walks in through the front door to your. Which you would know, Chandler, to your Left would be where the Koch is. To your right would be where the ticket booth is. He pulls on the fake book, the door opens and there's the large entryway to the Magic Palace. There is a piano, a bar is to your right. And he makes a hard right turn. You know, he's headed toward the security office. Do you follow him?

05:49.370 --> 05:49.850
Yeah.

05:50.890 --> 06:23.630
So Razor goes along the right hand wall. He opens the door to security officer and you see that there is someone at the, at the desk. And he says, hey, could you give us a minute? I just want to show Chandler the footage really quick, see if he knows the guy. And the person just, you know, gets up and leaves. He rewinds the footage and he shows you the moment looks like it was earlier this morning, the spray painter. And he says, Chandler, what do you think this is? And he stops for a moment at the person spray painting. And the person turns toward the camera and he freezes on their face. What do you do, Chandler, as she shows you this image?

06:23.950 --> 06:42.110
Well, if Revenge the Fire Eater is not booked for tonight, then this sounds like something else. And you know that frozen that, that image of that kid, he looks pretty young. He looks familiar. I can't place why I would know him, but I feel like I've seen his face.

06:43.070 --> 07:57.150
You could at this moment. This is one of the things you do. In Monster of the Week. There are called basic moves. I can have you roll investigative Mystery. Investigate a mystery is. I'm going to read it for all of our new listeners. When you investigate a mystery, roll plus sharp on a 10 plus hold 2 on a 7 and 9. Hold 1. Depending on what Chandler rolls here, Chandler may be able to ask me some questions. And here are the questions. What happened here? What sort of creature is it? What can it do? What can hurt it? Where did it go? What was it going to do? What is being concealed here? So, Chandler, by the way, for listeners we use roll 20 so you might hear the whoop noise of roll 20. Chandler, roll me Investigate a mystery if you could, please. That's a 10. So on a 10 plus you get a hold two. So Chandler, you can ask me two questions in Monster of the Week. Hold means you could hold on to them so you don't have to ask me two right away if you wanted to do something else before you ask me that next question, you can or hold or do none at this moment, but you're looking at an In Monster of the Week when you roll Investigative Mystery, it is about the information you can gather with what you are currently being presented with. So in this situation, you're looking at footage of someone who did the spray paint. So your questions would be answerable to that situation. So what of those questions would you like to ask me if you want to right now?

07:57.390 --> 07:59.310
What is being concealed here?

07:59.310 --> 08:25.950
So, Chandler, there is a reason why Razor Ataly has asked you here this morning. Because as you look at this freeze frame image of this individual who turned towards the camera, you notice something that probably most people may miss because you are a spell slinger, a magic user. There is a reflection in their eyes. Now, some may think if they weren't looking for it, that it is light reflecting off their eyes. You recognize the reflection in this person's eyes? They are possessed.

08:26.830 --> 08:35.390
So possession could be by any manner of creatures. Maybe I should ask what creature this is.

08:35.550 --> 08:59.269
What sort of creature is it? It is. I'll let you keep that hold if you decide to. You, you answered your own question. It could be a lot of creatures. It is most likely some sort of spirit that is possessing them. But right now you. You don't know. You don't have enough information to determine that yet. But you are certain that some creature is possessing this individual. But I'll let you keep on that hold because you kind of already answered that question for yourself.

08:59.429 --> 09:04.540
Okay? I mean, unless we can. Unless it gets more specific than that. I'll hold my hold.

09:05.340 --> 09:09.260
Okay, so Razor looks at you. Chandler, what do you do?

09:09.580 --> 09:12.860
Look, Razor, this guy's possessed.

09:12.940 --> 09:15.180
He goes. I know, that's why I called you in here.

09:15.260 --> 09:29.780
Thank you. I don't call me. Yeah, well, you know, it could be one of those rare cases where it's a friendly possession and he's here to help. But given the tagging.

09:29.780 --> 09:30.780
Revenge Tonight.

09:30.860 --> 09:34.670
Revenge Tonight? Yeah, I'm leaning toward the opposite, I think. Okay, maybe.

09:34.670 --> 09:36.950
Okay, we're on the same page then. Chandler.

09:36.950 --> 09:49.310
Okay. Yeah, well, we should probably. We should probably review the lineup of magicians that are performing here tonight.

09:49.870 --> 09:50.310
Okay.

09:50.310 --> 09:56.190
And see if any of them may have pissed someone off.

09:56.430 --> 10:02.310
Oh, okay. I mean, it's, you know, as you know, it's full, bill. I mean, everyone will be here. They pop in and out. But.

10:02.310 --> 10:15.150
Yeah, well, I think it's. I think it'd be a good idea to interview the performing magicians. You know, I know a great detective I could get on this to help.

10:15.310 --> 10:16.190
Okay, sure.

10:16.670 --> 10:18.110
She's got an overcoat and everything.

10:18.350 --> 10:31.600
All right. Okay. You'd work on that. I need to get this cleaned up, so feel free to bring on whoever you need to bring on. I'll vouch for you. And he heads out of the room.

10:32.240 --> 10:35.280
I will text Ricky.

10:35.840 --> 10:36.400
Okay.

10:36.800 --> 10:41.840
To see if she can get over to the Magic palace, stat.

10:42.080 --> 10:43.280
What'd you text, Ricky?

10:43.440 --> 10:45.600
Ricky, get over the Magic palace, stat.

10:46.240 --> 10:49.040
Is it all caps, by the way, or do you do upper? Lowercase.

10:49.280 --> 10:58.400
It's like mostly upper. I mean, yeah, it's not all caps, but it's a lot of explanation points. And I just hit autocorrect on the suggestions without really checking.

10:59.040 --> 11:01.920
So it might be like magic pal ice or something.

11:02.400 --> 11:04.720
Yeah, spat Ricky.

11:04.720 --> 11:08.320
Ricky, you get a text. What do you do as you receive this text from Chandler?

11:09.280 --> 11:14.799
I write back, how quickly? How quickly? To be like, be honest. And I.

11:14.799 --> 11:44.910
And I send it texting, texting back. Well, it's a great case for you because it's. This is gonna. This is gonna be some. There's heavy detection to be done, but I want to interview. I want to interview the magicians at the Magic palace, which, A, I could use help, and B, we. We want to try to get that done before they start getting set up and into their shows.

11:45.070 --> 11:58.100
The text is so long, I skim it and I immediately text Hal going, hey, hey, buddy. How far are you from our pad? I need a ride to the Magic Palace.

11:58.740 --> 12:09.940
And I text back, buddy. Oh, buddy. Hey, buddy. And then I wait a second, and then I type back, no, buddy, I like it. Okay, buddy.

12:10.420 --> 12:15.140
I just watch the dots go and then stop and then go and stop.

12:16.970 --> 12:18.810
What do you think of the property? I'm coming.

12:19.050 --> 12:32.330
So I ignore that question and I go back to Chandler and I go, yeah, I'll be there. I'll give you an ETA when I have one. And I go back to Hal and I go. And I send a thumbs up emoji. Great, see you soon. And I send that.

12:32.729 --> 12:34.490
And I send a thumbs up emoji.

12:34.970 --> 12:41.210
To her and I hop on my bike. What. What time did you say it was?

12:42.010 --> 12:44.650
We'll say it's about eight in the morning at this point.

12:45.850 --> 13:01.530
Okay, great. I'm on the reverse commute going from Beverly Wood, so I think it only takes me 20 minutes. But I got the thumbs up emoji on the. On my text that included property question. So I. I come up to the loft and I'm like, well, that's. Hey. Hi. Hey, Ricky.

13:01.690 --> 13:02.170
Hey.

13:02.570 --> 13:05.770
That's great. When should we. When do you think we.

13:05.770 --> 13:08.410
I mean, we have to go. We have to go right now.

13:09.050 --> 13:10.570
Well, the property is not finished.

13:11.100 --> 13:19.500
Oh, no. We're going to the Magic Palace. Oh, my shoes are on. I'm gonna head outside. Go to the bathroom, wash your hands, whatever you need. I'll see you outside.

13:20.140 --> 13:21.420
Is there any food in the fridge?

13:21.980 --> 13:23.180
Whatever's left.

13:23.980 --> 13:26.220
This tilapia is really chewy.

13:27.100 --> 13:30.300
I come back into the apartment. What? What did you say? Huh?

13:30.540 --> 13:36.140
This tilapia is really chewy. I don't think it's the best sushi.

13:36.470 --> 13:40.310
I was outside the building and came back in for that.

13:40.390 --> 13:43.510
I was outside the building and came back in, but at a different time than you.

13:44.390 --> 13:53.670
Oh, I gotta get my phone. And then I come inside. I go grab it. Oh, 63. That's the most it's had in a while. All right, let's do this.

13:54.310 --> 13:58.190
Oh, that's. What a good reminder. I should charge my phone. How long do we have?

13:58.190 --> 14:03.670
Well, there's another piece of tilapia in the fridge. You want to eat that? And then by the time you're done eating, that will go.

14:03.750 --> 14:05.030
It's not very good.

14:05.560 --> 14:09.560
Well, let's just pull the cord from the wall. We'll charge it in. Clyde.

14:11.880 --> 14:16.520
Yes. Let me figure out if I have a plug for that on Clyde. I'm gonna wash my hands.

14:16.680 --> 14:17.320
Okay.

14:19.400 --> 14:21.320
This soap is heavenly.

14:22.760 --> 14:25.160
If you just move back in, you'd have it all the time.

14:25.560 --> 14:25.960
What?

14:26.280 --> 14:33.970
If you. If you. Sorry, I didn't mean to yell. I'll come up to the doorway, but I won't look in. And if you move back in, you'll have it all the time.

14:34.450 --> 14:35.490
I never moved out.

14:36.930 --> 14:43.010
If you slept here in your. In your room, you would have access to it all the time.

14:44.130 --> 14:53.090
Yeah. Yeah. I think I'm on the verge of a real career breakthrough, so I think that could happen any. Any day now. Any day now. But then if you're open to the property, let's go.

14:54.850 --> 14:56.370
To Magic Palace.

14:56.700 --> 14:59.660
Oh, let's do that one first. Yeah. But then please check out the property.

14:59.740 --> 15:04.620
I mean, we can, but if it's dark out, I kind of just want to come home. Oh, let's just go to the Magic Palace.

15:05.500 --> 15:07.660
You will be on Clyde. It won't be public transit.

15:09.180 --> 15:19.260
You know what's really nice is that I don't have to share the sidecar right now with anybody. I get to stretch out. I can put my feet to the front of the sidecar.

15:20.220 --> 15:22.370
Yeah, you could ride on the back, too, if you wanted to.

15:22.600 --> 15:26.040
No, no, no, no, no. You do your thing. Call me a little Miss Daisy.

15:26.520 --> 15:27.880
All right, Little Miss Daisy.

15:27.960 --> 15:30.120
Okay, that was weird. Just call me Ricky.

15:30.120 --> 15:31.080
You got it, buddy.

15:31.160 --> 15:32.760
Oh. Oh, yeah. Okay.

15:32.760 --> 15:43.080
I text Ricky. I say, by the way, if you're at the house, could you bring me my taffy from the fridge? It's in a bag that says tilapia.

15:43.160 --> 16:39.330
And as the as Clyde goes down the street, we fade to black, looking for a little escapism. With endless stages, three restaurants and one mission to entertain the mansion palace has what you need to turn a Friday night into a date night. How romantic. Family night. Oh so frantic. Magical night. It's gigantic. Stop on by and let us downsy with more glamour, spectacle and pizzazz than you ever thought could fit in a single building at the Magic Palace. Everyone is welcome. For members only. Not open to the public any memberships or purchase the cryptocurrency only via sponsorship. For one current member, one former member and one future member. Speak 21 year older. Please use slight hand responsibly. As we fade up, Clyde the motorcycle with Hal and Ricky pull into the Magic palace parking lot. Chandler, where are you? When Clyde arrives here outside the Magic.

16:39.330 --> 16:41.370
Palace, I'm still in the security office.

16:41.950 --> 16:42.350
Okay.

16:42.350 --> 16:45.070
Reviewing footage. Great.

16:45.070 --> 18:02.240
That reminds me. Sorry to interrupt. I just want to. For new listeners and players, and for you as well, about the game itself. There is a show called the Crit show that played Monster of the Week. They had a couple house rules that I would like to use for our game. It won't necessarily come up now, but it might. They have a thing called gear points, which is basically money. So basically, when you level up. Sorry, when we finish a mystery, in addition to your experience points, they translate that into some money so you can get more gear that is on your playbook, playlist or playbook list. So when we get there, I'll explain at that time. But that gives you the option to get more stuff as you level up that you might find useful that you don't currently have access to. There's also the concept of the luck roll, which I don't know how much I personally will use as your keeper, but basically there is no inherent role for luck. This is a way to use luck to roll in case. I don't know if this is something that might happen to you or not. Basically, it's your current luck halved and you roll with that number. So everyone should be starting with let me look at your playbooks, because no, no one has used luck yet. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Right. So 7. So it'd be 2D6 plus 3 if you were to roll luck Again, that may or may not come up too often in our games, but if there's something where I'm like, let's see if that happens. I may have you what's called roll luck.

18:02.630 --> 18:06.710
And that would be independent of actually using a point of luck.

18:06.710 --> 19:32.850
Correct. It might be something like I'm trying to think of an example of where that might come up. But it might be like, hey, we're just wandering through a field and you and we've done no other roles or research and maybe there's something that I haven't determined for sure would happen or not. I may have you roll up to see if you stumble onto something. There are playbook moves that do something like this, but no one really has that kind of ability, so we may use that. And lastly, what a lot of actual plays do, which I'm going to do. And we may decide we don't like this. But at the end of our mystery we'll do the end of session experience because as you all use my. As our hunters here, our players have determined our sessions won't quite line up with mysteries. Our timing is a little bit off. So at the end of the mystery we'll do end of session experience where we run through some questions, give you experience points. If we determine as a group that that's not enough and you feel like, yeah, I'd like to do it every time we record, then I'm happy to look into that. But we'll, we'll, we'll all figure that out as we go. Sorry to talk about that, but I want to be sure you all and listeners heard that. Thank you. So Clyde, you pull into the parking lot area of the Magic Palace. Chandler, you're inside still in the security room. As the two of you pull in on Clyde, I think it's very obvious you just still see the group of security guards. Someone is starting to clean the step. Repeat of this spray painted something. What do you all do?

19:32.930 --> 19:39.330
I mean I don't want to pay for valet right now. Do you think they'll just let us park here? They're not even open yet.

19:40.370 --> 19:49.100
Well, as you said, the bike is a little more nimble with just you in the sidecar. I'm going to inch it forward, see if we can could just get it into the front door.

19:49.900 --> 19:51.900
Oh, oh, we're taking it in.

19:52.380 --> 19:55.580
I just, I mean they're busy. Maybe we could just get it in.

19:55.820 --> 19:57.180
Do you want me to hold the door open?

19:57.580 --> 19:59.500
Sure, sure. That'd be. That would help. Yeah.

19:59.740 --> 20:02.060
Okay, let me just.

20:02.460 --> 20:08.700
So I've got, I've got my, my feet down on the ground like pacing it forward while the engine's idling.

20:08.700 --> 20:15.040
Well, well, hold on. I gotta get out of this thing first. Will you just hold it for one second?

20:15.680 --> 20:17.040
Yeah, okay.

20:17.280 --> 20:19.840
Okay. I just don't want to get my trench coat stuck.

20:21.440 --> 20:22.880
It looks fabulous, by the way.

20:23.040 --> 20:44.730
Thank you. Thank you. Worthy investment. Love her so much. Alright, so I push myself up and I swing my right leg over the side, touching around for the ground. I feel the ground, my right foot. When I feel stabilized, I swing my left foot up and out and. And wipe my hands when I've completed a perfect exit of the sidecar.

20:44.730 --> 20:45.130
Great.

20:45.530 --> 20:46.650
Very elegant, babe.

20:47.770 --> 20:49.130
No, unnecessary.

20:49.850 --> 21:10.270
Two things happen at this moment. I don't know how loud Clyde is. And you can tell me what you feel. How loud Clyde is. Everyone who is here is aware of the two of you who've pulled up in a motorcycle. Chandler, inside. The live camera feed does show you Clyde pulling up with Halloween in a Riki in view of the Magic Palace. What do y' all do?

21:11.550 --> 21:16.350
Oh, I forgot to text that we were here and the eta. Let me just text that we're here.

21:16.350 --> 21:17.710
Oh, do you want to get back in?

21:18.190 --> 21:20.110
No, I'm just gonna reach in and grab my phone out.

21:20.510 --> 21:22.510
Oh, okay. I'll stop again.

21:22.830 --> 21:23.710
Oh, thank you.

21:24.030 --> 21:30.350
I come out of the security office to greet them because I could hear Clyde from like three rooms over.

21:31.070 --> 21:31.470
Great.

21:31.470 --> 21:32.510
And camera.

21:32.510 --> 21:33.070
We made it.

21:33.310 --> 21:34.590
That is canon. Okay.

21:34.590 --> 21:35.070
Okay.

21:35.630 --> 21:39.710
I can hear you. And. And I could see you. Thanks for coming.

21:39.710 --> 21:43.310
Oh my gosh, your hair is so much longer than I remember.

21:44.510 --> 21:49.150
Thank you. I. I mean, I'm. It's. It's mostly, you know, height, length.

21:49.950 --> 21:50.590
Oh, yes.

21:50.910 --> 21:51.710
It's volume.

21:52.270 --> 21:53.230
It's voluminous.

21:53.390 --> 21:56.030
I love what you've done with your mustache. How.

21:56.430 --> 22:07.770
Oh, thank you. Yeah, I mean, I. I was hoping the scruff would still make it seem like of a piece with the beard, but I guess it's standing out, isn't is?

22:07.770 --> 22:08.570
But it works.

22:09.530 --> 22:12.090
Almost time to shave it into a van Dyke.

22:12.650 --> 22:14.970
Almost, indeed. I'm gonna go inside.

22:15.129 --> 22:32.060
As you do that, Razor is approaching Chandler from behind as a valet person who's clearly here because of the situation. Razor's like waving them off because he assumes they're with you. Razor comes up behind you, Chandler, and says, are these two. Are these two your detective friends?

22:32.700 --> 22:46.820
These are the two. These guys are with me. This is Ricky and Hal. And Ricky and Hal, this is Razor Tully. If you're lucky, you'll find out why they call him Razor.

22:46.820 --> 22:48.580
Ooh, why, like the scooter?

22:48.580 --> 22:49.340
If you're lucky.

22:49.580 --> 22:54.710
Well, is this a Google I'm feeling lucky. Search. Or are you just going to tell us?

22:54.950 --> 22:59.750
He looks at you, Chandler, and goes, we don't post our shows online, so you have to come to the show tonight and see.

23:01.830 --> 23:06.150
Oh, but this. This graffiti here is. Is also referring to tonight.

23:06.309 --> 23:10.630
No. So I. I brought your friend and he looks at you. Are they. Can I talk about the thing?

23:11.190 --> 23:15.510
Yeah. We're a team. We're all. We're all part of the same team.

23:16.880 --> 23:18.160
Do you have a name as a team?

23:19.200 --> 23:20.160
Oh, I'm Hal.

23:20.480 --> 23:21.720
No, I mean as a group.

23:21.720 --> 23:22.560
I'm Ricky.

23:25.120 --> 23:32.600
And we're still trying to figure out if your razor like the scooters. Isn't there a different razor company named Tully? Are you named after two scooters?

23:32.600 --> 23:43.490
You come tonight the show and you can find out. So there was graffiti on our step and repeat this morning that said revenge tonight. And I brought Chandler in because the image on the video was kind of strange.

23:45.650 --> 23:48.530
We've got a. We've got a possession.

23:48.930 --> 23:51.570
Ooh, it's been a while. I'm ready.

23:52.850 --> 23:53.650
They exist.

23:54.290 --> 24:14.630
Feel free to do what you need to do. Chandler, obviously I can't let you into the. The, the other residential rooms, but you can roam around if you need to in the main areas. I'll be. I'll be helping out with cleanup and. And dealing with any sort of fallout with. With the. With the council. But do what you need to do and please keep this under wraps. I don't think anyone's ready to hear possession.

24:15.110 --> 24:17.510
Oh, even the other magic doers here.

24:17.750 --> 24:20.870
Razor has a very uncomfortable look on his face when you say that.

24:21.430 --> 24:24.870
Even the other featured employees here.

24:25.270 --> 24:25.990
New choice.

24:26.470 --> 24:27.110
I sh.

24:28.310 --> 24:36.070
Even the most compelling of the guests here.

24:36.230 --> 24:49.920
I should. I should go. He turns on, leaves really quickly. Some playbooks in Monster of the Week have what is called a beginning of mystery move. I don't think any of you do, but if anyone has a beginning of mystery move, now would be the time to roll that.

24:50.160 --> 24:55.040
Is that like a bit of flair that we do to indicate that the mystery is on?

24:55.840 --> 25:09.850
You can, but that is not what this is. There are some playbooks that say there's like one where you see a vision of the future. Ricky, yours is not a beginning of mystery move, but you do have a move. Can you read your move for me that I'm referring to?

25:10.330 --> 25:13.210
Yes. So I think it's the Occult Confidential.

25:13.690 --> 25:15.850
Correct. Would you like to read that for me?

25:16.330 --> 25:29.330
I would love to. So Occult Confidential is the first time in each mystery that I observe a monster, minion or Phenomenon in action. I may ask one question from the Investigate a Mystery list for future playbooks.

25:29.330 --> 25:34.310
This. I will announce it like this. And if you had one, you would roll that. But, yes, the mystery is on. What do you do next?

25:34.550 --> 25:41.670
Well, does the group have. This is producer Mack here. Does the group have something they all say when the mystery is on. A bit of flair, as Chandler was referring to.

25:49.110 --> 25:52.470
The folks outside turn and look and then they go back to the work they're doing.

25:52.550 --> 25:59.200
I think we could all throw our hands in, though. We could all throw our hands in a circle and yell, on three, mystery is on.

26:00.720 --> 26:01.680
Okay. Yeah.

26:01.840 --> 26:18.320
What if we almost touch? What if we just put our hands really close to each other as if there's a special force between our fingers we couldn't possibly touch? And then we go, the mystery is on.

26:19.120 --> 26:20.800
So you're, like, incredibly erotic.

26:20.800 --> 26:22.480
Yeah. You're trying to build up anticipation.

26:23.770 --> 26:25.290
It's either that or butt slaps.

26:25.930 --> 26:27.610
Well, you know me, I'll go either way.

26:28.570 --> 26:33.970
Yeah, I mean, I'm not great at slapping my butt cheeks, but I will try.

26:33.970 --> 26:44.250
All right, it's there. That's the super erotic almost finger touch. Just put your hands in. Just put your hands in. Three, two, one. The mystery.

26:44.250 --> 26:44.970
The mystery.

26:48.170 --> 26:49.370
You hear one of the workers?

26:50.140 --> 26:51.340
No, that's not for you.

26:51.500 --> 26:52.620
He's not wrong, though.

26:53.340 --> 27:01.260
Okay, so how do we know about that this is a possession? Is there something to see? Is there someone else to talk to? You lead the way. I'm following.

27:02.220 --> 27:26.940
Well, look, Razor showed me some footage of a miscreant, a ne' er do well, tagging that message outside, and he. He froze the frame on a certain point at which you can see his eyes and you can tell if you're in the know, that he's possessed. Probably do. I mean, based on some of the stuff we've seen, they.

27:26.940 --> 27:29.220
They very well could. It's. It's kind of unlikely, but.

27:29.220 --> 27:41.180
Yes. Yeah, but I mean, it's. I mean, it's a little surprising that you're skeptical about possession, given some of the other things. I'm just curious. What. What is it about possession specifically that you doubt?

27:41.660 --> 27:56.220
Oh, it just seems that he could have done a whippet or something. Well, that doesn't really answer your question about possession specifically. I just think sometimes there's reasonable explanations, and we don't always find the reasonable explanations. But sometimes there are.

27:56.300 --> 28:09.780
That is true. I mean, that does make our job hard. You know, sometimes there's a guy riding around on a horse who just has his shirt pulled up over his head and carrying a pumpkin doesn't mean he. He's a headless horseman.

28:10.820 --> 28:12.180
No, that's.

28:12.180 --> 28:14.260
That's where our job gets tough.

28:15.220 --> 28:21.020
Okay, so if I were to be a real detective on this case, I would say, let's try to find the miscreant.

28:21.020 --> 28:22.260
You are a real detective.

28:22.820 --> 28:24.020
Thank you so much.

28:24.180 --> 28:57.470
On this case. Look, here's the thing, though. Hal and Ricky, what's going on here is whether the. There's a real possession or not. There is definitely someone, likely a magician, performing here tonight who has angered someone, who has wronged someone. And that someone might be a supernatural being, or maybe it's just a young punk on whippets. But that fact we know somebody has pissed somebody else off.

28:58.030 --> 29:11.520
Okay, so where do you want to start? You just want to call everybody in for their. Their performance tonight, Their beautiful star is born moment early tonight to just question them?

29:12.240 --> 29:19.360
I'll say that seems compelling because Razor, for some reason, seemed very uneasy about even acknowledging the people that were going to be taking stage.

29:20.080 --> 29:21.440
And if this was.

29:21.600 --> 29:22.400
I also think.

29:23.280 --> 29:25.120
No, you go, you go.

29:25.120 --> 29:25.680
Who's here?

29:26.370 --> 29:26.650
Hugo.

29:26.650 --> 29:27.010
What?

29:27.010 --> 29:29.330
Hugo's performance. He should be interviewed.

29:30.370 --> 29:31.170
He's the.

29:31.170 --> 29:33.410
He's sick. Someone shouts from the entryway.

29:33.650 --> 29:35.490
Sorry, sir. What was that?

29:35.490 --> 29:55.560
Hugo, one of the valets. You know, he's not working tonight. Oh, you can see that. They have given up trying to wipe off the paint, and they're like. Looks like they're removing the old one and they're gonna just put on a new, completely new, separate Pete back with the Magic palace logo. So they're not even going to try to clean it off. You just see them removing the old one.

29:56.200 --> 29:57.160
That's so sad.

29:57.560 --> 30:00.120
Should we take it? It would look nice on the wall.

30:00.680 --> 30:04.200
Oh, yeah, yeah. Excuse me. Hugo's friend.

30:04.600 --> 30:05.320
They all turn.

30:06.840 --> 30:08.279
Wow. Okay.

30:08.440 --> 30:13.400
Talk about popular guy. Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

30:14.280 --> 30:17.560
All right, Hugo's godfather. Anybody?

30:18.000 --> 30:19.200
They all lower their heads.

30:21.040 --> 30:29.520
Anyway, friends, why don't you hand over the. The step and repeat, and we'll take it off your hands. If you're just gonna put in the.

30:29.520 --> 31:05.370
Dump, I'm gonna have you roll. In monster of the week, we have a move called manipulate someone. So once you have given them a reason, tell them what you want them to do and roll plus charm. In this case, this is a normal person. We'll say the lead person, Phil, on a 10 plus, they'll do. They'll do it for the reason you gave them. If you ask too much, they'll tell you the minimum. It would Take for them to do it or if there's no way they do it on a 7 to 9, they'll do it, but only if you do something for them right now to show that you mean it. If you ask too much, they'll tell you what, if anything, it would take for them to do it. So please, Hal, roll, manipulate someone to see if Phil, the leader of the employees here, will give you the step and repeat.

31:06.170 --> 31:10.650
Because I'm also interested in getting this beautiful graphic. May I help out?

31:10.940 --> 31:24.300
Thank you for that. Cue, Ricky. So let me tell you what just happened. Hal rolled a three, which is a fail. So if you were to help out, you would only get Hal up to a four. So it would be ill advised for you to help out because it won't help out Hal in the situation.

31:25.340 --> 31:27.260
Sorry, Hal, I can't help you.

31:28.060 --> 31:49.310
But in Monster of the Week, when you fail a roll, in this case, Hal, you rolled a three. Mark experience. In Monster of the Week, you learn from your mistakes. So you. So you mark a point of experience. When someone levels up, we'll go through that process, of course. But mark a point of experience, they all look at you and say, this is Magic palace property. Sorry, bud. And they take it inside.

31:49.710 --> 31:50.110
Bud?

31:50.910 --> 31:54.190
Yeah. How weird is that? That's not cool to be called a bud.

31:56.350 --> 32:12.770
Well, I feel a little dirty. I see both avenues open to us as compelling. Interviewing magicians or trying to track down this miscreant to some source. Whatever the source that might be, I.

32:12.770 --> 32:15.770
Think we should name the miscreant until we know what their name is.

32:17.370 --> 32:18.410
Hugo? No.

32:20.730 --> 32:21.170
Hugh.

32:21.170 --> 32:23.610
Know if you know. Hu.

32:23.610 --> 32:29.530
Know I like it. Chandler, what do you think? Okay.

32:29.530 --> 32:30.450
You like Dunn better?

32:30.450 --> 32:31.370
Huno's best.

32:31.450 --> 32:35.070
Great. Hu. No is our miscreant name for the miscreant.

32:35.550 --> 32:55.550
You know, you know, if this was written, the. The fact that Razor was the one who brought me and then us into this and was really the first person we encountered, I would say that that makes him super suspicious. But fortunately this is real life, so I think we can skip him.

32:56.750 --> 33:11.180
I'm perfectly interested in letting you guys start an interview. Like, let me just take a quick look around the site here of the spray paint and see if there's anything that might make it just really easy to track down this Huno.

33:11.180 --> 33:11.700
Good call.

33:11.860 --> 33:14.500
Yeah, great. I also want to investigate.

33:14.580 --> 33:21.940
So tell me. So Monster of the Week. Tell me what you're doing and then I'll tell you if there's a role there. So how are you investing? How are you investigating here?

33:22.500 --> 33:43.150
All right, I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I'm gonna look for the spray paint or any part thereof or any fingerprints that if he touched the step and repeat while or after he was spray painting. If they were. I don't know how rolled up that piece is yet.

33:43.150 --> 33:56.040
But so, so you tell me. So if you're trying to get, like, trying to look at the site, they've taken the piece inside. Somewhere inside the actual building. So if you want to follow that person, you could. Or you can, like, survey the external area out here if you'd like.

33:56.440 --> 34:13.040
Well, let me ask you really quick, Chandler. Did you. Did you see them leave anything behind or. Or was there something out of frame on the footage that you thought might be a good place, that if they had a spray can. Spray can that they just left, it might be at.

34:13.040 --> 34:22.159
And Chandler, we didn't hold that far. I'm a hold one left. You have a hold one left. So you could use this now to ask me a question about the footage based on what Hal just asked you.

34:22.479 --> 34:27.039
Oh, good, Good point. Good, good, good hold. Yeah, yeah.

34:28.799 --> 35:00.740
I can review the questions for you once again. What happened here? What sort of creature is it? What can it do? What can hurt it? Where did it go? What was it going to do? What is being concealed here? So you have a hold left based on the footage you saw of the spray paint, where did it go? You can tell the person enters frame as if they came up the driveway and they leave very casually. You can tell they. They're walking. They're not like in a car. You don't see them get them an Uber. So they left. You know, the camera doesn't have, you know, the full view, but they just kind of left the property on foot.

35:00.900 --> 35:25.930
All right, well, I called you guys right away. We didn't really. I didn't even investigate the area, but something easily could have been left behind. Maybe we should check the corners around the old step and repeat, where the old step and repeat was and where the new step and repeat is, as well as the. The driveway on both sides.

35:26.970 --> 35:38.090
I'll do the driveway. I'll do a short walk up and down the block to see if by any chance, you know, their possession ceased and they just dropped what was in their hands or something.

35:38.170 --> 35:38.730
Great question.

35:38.810 --> 35:39.290
Yeah.

35:39.610 --> 35:43.990
So, Hal, I'll have you roll in a moment. Ricky, what did you want to do while Hal's doing that?

35:44.630 --> 36:09.760
I wanted to survey the ground to see if there were any drippy drops dropped from the spray paint can as they walked away. Maybe it's Like a trail of breadcrumbs for us to num nom nom all the way to hino, you know, paint. What was a metaphor? It was a type of metaphor by doni facimiles. I will have same Z's.

36:10.320 --> 36:35.680
I will have Hal and Ricky roll me. Investigate mystery for the two different things you are doing so you'll get different answers based on what you're surveying. That's a nine for Ricky. So that's a hold one for you and a ten. That's a two for you Hal. So once again what happened here? What sort of creature is it? What can it do? What can hurt it? Where did it go? What was it going to do? What is being concealed here? So Hal, you get two based on your walk and then Ricky you have one based on surveying the area outside there.

36:37.130 --> 36:40.450
Oh, I'd say unless you want me to go for it. Ricky, I think you rolled first.

36:40.450 --> 36:54.170
So yeah, my main investigation was to find where did it go? How far did it go? Not necessarily that it went just to the end of the driveway but if it continued on and we'd be able to find this huno, you know.

36:54.650 --> 37:00.730
I do know. So yeah, I know huno. So what is the question you're asking me from that list? Where did it go?

37:00.810 --> 37:02.250
So where, where did it go?

37:02.250 --> 37:31.140
Where did it go? You do indeed find some droplets on the ground that do lead in the footsteps of where Hal is heading. So it kind of goes down the driveway. And I'm going to give you something a little bit extra since you're comboing this. It does look like if someone were to spray paint and not want to be found they'd probably be a little more careful. It looks like done spray painting and droplets falling behind them. They look very casual in terms of not leaving evidence behind of their trail.

37:31.860 --> 37:42.920
That sounds like a good sign of, of actual possession because you know how those demons are. They're attention, they just, they want to be found. They. They're all looking at me, you know.

37:43.400 --> 37:47.800
Just I, I totally believe it if, if such things exist.

37:48.440 --> 37:50.200
So Hal, give me your two questions here.

37:51.960 --> 38:13.310
Okay. I, I'm. I, yeah, I guess I'm hoping that what happened here can kind of tell me what happened here, you know. Yeah. If, if anything changed with this person on their walk or if, if we can go straight to their home or something to where they are now. I guess.

38:13.310 --> 38:25.310
So Anna, what happened here? As you're, are you like going up the street? Like going up and down the block? What happened here as you're Following. I need to ask you a clarifying question here. How do you think this is a possession or not?

38:30.500 --> 38:33.460
I think I begrudgingly believe it to be a possession.

38:33.700 --> 39:11.240
So as you're kind of following and you see, similar to what Ricky started to see coming down the driveway, you do see little bits of paint going down the street. You're following. And then as you turn a corner, you see a garbage can is kind of full, and you do indeed see a spray can in the can. So you feel like at some point, if this person was possessed, it stopped around there and they left behind. I mean, it's possible they kept going, but it's. It seems like there's something that happened there where the can was disposed of up until this point, and then whomever did it presumably continued on. You do have one more hold.

39:12.120 --> 39:35.970
I have driving gloves, so I will put those on to pick up the can. And I guess I want to know, I'll ask what is being concealed here, Hoping to see if there's any, you know, prints or anything else that might enable me to track down this individual.
