00:00.684 --> 00:34.348
Dubbin' in the dark, gonna find our spark. Blind tech magic, learn and love, embark. With Desiree Renee guiding us today. Feel the keys in play, let the tech light our way. Jargon in our head code, we got a thread. Smart and witty paths out of words unsaid. Screen reader sings, it's that new age bling. Oh, it's tech exploring, makes our spirits swing. Eyes closed, we're seeing. Hearts beating and believing. Together we're achieving, no hurdles deceiving. Desiree's leading, all the knowledge we're feeding. Laughing while we're reading this tech quest succeeding.

00:34.348 --> 01:58.470
Hey everybody, and welcome to today's episode of Learning Blind Tech with Desiree Renee. I'm glad everybody could join us today. It's going to be a packed episode with some really exciting things. So I brought Jonathan back onto the podcast, and he will be doing a demonstration of several features that are available with his application PresentABLE. And if you don't remember exactly what that is, you can listen to our episode on PresentABLE where we talked about how it came to be and all of that good stuff. For today, I'm going to play the interview for you, and just to let you know, it is very packed because there are so many great features about this application that it took a long time to kind of get through all of the things that Jonathan wanted to show us today. So let's get started with that, and I hope you enjoy it. Okay, so I am here with Jonathan now, and welcome back, Jonathan. Thanks for having me. Yes, uh, thank you so much. Um, you are going to walk us through and demonstrate some awesome features of your PresentABLE application, so I'm just gonna hand it over to you and let you take it away.

01:58.470 --> 02:55.642
All right, thank you. So for those who don't know what this is, it is a fully accessible PowerPoint presentation creation app designed by me, Vibe Coding, and then it was brought to its final finishing touches with the help of Brian Harchin of Harchin Consultancy. And we are selling the app. It is currently on pre-order. You can find it at harchinconsultancy.com/presentable. It will actually be available to the public and fully on sale on November 23rd. If you want to hear more about the backstory of PresentABLE and a discussion of a lot of the features that we won't get to today because it's packed full of features, you can listen to an interview Desiree did with me on a previous episode of Learning Blind Tech with Desiree Renee.

02:57.106 --> 02:58.003
Awesome. Yes.

02:58.003 --> 04:49.139
Before we get started in the app, I just want to make a few preliminary points so people understand. Because we are creating PowerPoint presentations, it will be really helpful to you if you have PowerPoint installed on your computer. It uses it in some instances to measure and render slide details, to provide information on your project's accessibility and some other things. But honestly, ultimately, You'll need PowerPoint anyway to run a presentation. The other thing you should know is it works with JAWS 2022 or later. That being said, obviously the later the version you have, probably the better success you'll have using the app. For this demo, I'm using JAWS 2026 with the September and latest update fully installed. I've turned my speech down from what I normally use JAWS at, so hopefully that will help this make more sense to everybody. With all of that being said, I'm going to get into the demonstration, and we're going to cover, I hope, 4 different things. One is going to be the preferences of Presentable. Then we'll show the tabs, like the, the main working area within the app. The bulk of the presentation is going to actually be on basic presentation creation. And then the 4th thing is going to be we'll briefly open the PowerPoint presentation that we make here today just to prove to people that it, it actually does work and it can be done. With all of that out of the way, I'm going to hit Enter on the app and we'll begin.

04:49.139 --> 04:54.533
Enter. Presentable, new presentation button, Ctrl+N, create a presentation, then add its first slide.

04:54.822 --> 05:09.686
So now I'm just going to briefly tab through the home screen, what launches when you first open the app. And as you heard, we landed on new presentation, which is what you're going to probably wind up doing most of the time. But I'm just going to tab through the rest of this.

05:10.136 --> 05:17.953
Open presentation button, Ctrl+O, open an existing Presentable project. Import presentation button, Alt+I, choose PowerPoint, Word, a Markdown file, or type Markdown to create a presentation.

05:18.643 --> 06:30.336
You can do a lot of things outside of the app if you want to. You can import a Markdown file, a Word file, even an existing PowerPoint if you want to begin or work on a project from that standpoint. When I was creating Presentable, my assumption was that I would create Markdown files and import them and just do the finishing touches in the app. The app has turned out so nicely that I actually think I'm going to create most of my presentations inside the app. That being said, I left the functionality in here because I may use it and others may as well. I do want to say the user guide, especially for those who are familiar with Brian Harchand's products, will— can imagine it's very detailed and full of information. If you want to learn more about the importing and what you can actually create create outside of Presentable and how it's imported and anything else about the app, you really should check out the user guide. So now I'm just going to tab through the rest of the home screen here.

06:30.769 --> 06:34.119
New from template button. Alt+Shift+N. Create a new presentation from a saved collection of slides.

06:34.552 --> 06:50.117
So we do, like PowerPoint does, we allow you to create templates. I have a couple of templates created already for consistent projects I'm working on. That's beyond the scope of what we're going to discuss here today, but it is a feature the app does offer.

06:50.502 --> 06:55.730
Recent presentations list box. Review slides. 1 of 10. Ctrl+Shift+O. Choose a recent presentation with up or down arrow. Enter opens it.

06:55.730 --> 07:05.784
This obviously shows your 10 most recent presentations. If you want to open one of those, you can just up or down arrow to it, hit Enter, and off you go. Um, there is—

07:05.784 --> 07:07.115
Open selected presentation.

07:07.115 --> 07:09.777
An Open button. You can use that as well.

07:09.777 --> 07:12.760
New presentation button. Ctrl+N. Create a presentation, then add it.

07:12.760 --> 07:17.009
And we're back to New, and I'm just going to hit spacebar on New.

07:17.346 --> 07:23.315
Space. New presentation dialog. Presentation name edit. Untitled presentation. Alt+N. Name this presentation. This is separate from its file name and slide titles.

07:23.315 --> 07:51.215
So what we're doing here is putting a name on our presentation. This name will appear at the beginning of the Slides tab as a reminder of what you're doing and where you are. It doesn't have to be the same name you give the file name when you save the project, but I think it really should be, and so that's my practice, but you can do what you want. For this Purpose, I'm just going to put in Learning Blind Tech.

07:51.536 --> 07:53.042
Presentation name edit Learning Blind Tech.

07:53.379 --> 07:54.821
And now I'm just going to hit Enter.

07:55.221 --> 08:00.301
Presentation created. Add a slide to begin. Learning Blind Tech presentable. Add slide button. Control Shift N. Choose a layout.

08:00.669 --> 08:11.341
Now before we get into all of this, I'm going to take you briefly through the preferences of the app. So I'm going to open those with Control Comma. Very standard.

08:12.286 --> 08:15.555
Presentable settings dialog. Projects folder edit. See users. Johnnet OneDrive presentable.

08:15.972 --> 08:45.122
And we land in the first tab, which is a Folders tab. There are a lot of customizations you can do here because I really like to keep my files and projects organized through folders that make sense to me. You don't have to do any of this if you don't want to, but I do. So the first one is the Projects, and that's where all the projects you save in Presentable will go into this particular folder. And you can paste the path,

08:46.021 --> 08:46.791
or

08:47.545 --> 08:48.636
you can browse for

08:48.941 --> 08:49.823
it.

08:50.513 --> 09:35.263
The export folder is a folder where when you export a PowerPoint presentation, that's where the app will automatically save it. I like having a folder for this purpose so I can easily find my created PowerPoint presentations later. And again, we have a Browse button, and I'm just going to go through this a little quickly. The Images folder, I think, is important. If you're only going to do one of these, I would probably do this one because it's where you're going to find your images to insert in your project. And so if you're actually using those, and I do now that it's easy to do, you're going to want to have an easy way of finding them.

09:36.017 --> 09:38.277
Browse images folder button. Choose backup folder. Edit. See users.

09:38.277 --> 09:55.883
Your backup folder makes another backup of your presentation, so you might want to know where those are going. I will say the app has a very extensive backup and restoration feature, and you'll want to read about that in the user guide for more information.

09:55.883 --> 09:58.898
Browse backup folder button. Choose templates folder. Edit. See users.

09:58.898 --> 10:06.791
There's your templates folder. So if you want to grab a template or Know where it's going to be saved. There it is.

10:07.225 --> 10:08.895
Browse temp reusable slides folder edit.

10:09.296 --> 10:20.440
Reusable slides. I could put a folder for this so I know where they are, but they're slides that I want to use across projects, and we'll demonstrate that in this demonstration.

10:20.777 --> 10:26.910
Browse reusable slides folder. But save settings button. Save the pending folder. Speech recovery format cancel button. Closed folders tab selected. Control shift.

10:27.199 --> 10:31.002
And now we're back at the tabs. And I'm just going to hit the right arrow key.

10:31.002 --> 10:32.525
Speech and Recovery tab selected.

10:32.525 --> 10:38.249
In here is where you'll find all of your speech settings. And I'm just going to tab through these.

10:38.249 --> 11:02.829
Speak short confirmations checkbox checked. Choose whether short action confirmations are spoken. Guided hints have their own guidance setting. Announce progress checkbox checked. Choose whether supported processing milestones produce short progress announcements. Guidance combo box. Guided, 2 of 2. Guided sends short purpose hints to speech and Braille. Standard leaves those hints off. Announce shortcut keys checkbox checked. Announce the documented key when focus moves. Recovery save interval in seconds, edit 60. Set automatic recovery saving between 15 and 3,600 seconds.

11:02.829 --> 11:11.503
It's always good to have things automatically save, I feel like. So you might just want to make sure you have something in here.

11:11.503 --> 11:15.704
Clear recent files button. Clear the recent project list when you save these settings. Project files remain on disk.

11:15.704 --> 11:59.222
All of these speech things I have turned on for the purposes of this demo. And as you're probably already noticing, you're getting a lot of verbosity. I've been using the app long enough so that when I'm actually working in the app for a project I want to create, I move from guided mode into standard mode and I uncheck all of these except for the progress messages. I do like the progress messages in case something gets hung up, but you'll want to look at all these and try them out. And when you first start, because there's so much here, You probably just want to do it like this in guided mode with all of these speech presentations checked. I'm just going to hit right arrow.

11:59.768 --> 12:01.003
Formatting defaults tab selected.

12:01.292 --> 12:44.009
The formatting defaults are an interesting thing. When I was putting together Presentable, I did a lot of research because as a blind person, I don't really know what fonts are easy to see. And based on several hours of research and actually asking some sighted people, I came up with these As the app's default fonts. I don't mess with these. If you want to, you can. You also can change them by project or by slide within the app. But if you have a different, for whatever reason, a different set of default fonts you want, you can apply them here. If you play with this though, I just want to show you something.

12:44.618 --> 12:49.911
Cancel button closed. Save settings button. Save the pending. Restore standard formatting button. Load the standard formatting values into the default editor.

12:50.216 --> 13:30.654
So we have a restore. So if you mess with this and you're like, oh boy, I don't know why I did that, there is a way to go back to the default font settings that come with the app. Another really great feature that comes with Brian's products is the context-sensitive help. And I think this is a good place to demonstrate this. There's context-sensitive help with every control in the app. We're not going to demonstrate this a lot during this demo, but I think this is a good one to use to show. So I'm just going to hit Shift+F1 with my focus on this button.

13:30.654 --> 13:35.576
Shift+F1. Presentable settings dialog. Presentable control help dialog. Help text read-only edit.

13:35.576 --> 13:43.591
And I'm just going to down arrow through this for a little bit so you can get a sense of what the context-sensitive help in Presentable is like.

13:43.912 --> 13:59.819
Presentable settings formatting defaults. Blank replaces the pending personal formatting fields and settings with presentable standard defaults. Save settings keeps them as the defaults for future presentations. Cancel leaves the saved defaults unchanged. This does not restyle the currently open presentation or erase slide overrides. Use styles in the main workspace for changes to the current project.

14:00.107 --> 14:04.838
And that's basically what I already explained to you. I'm just going to hit Tab.

14:05.078 --> 14:06.842
Copy help button. Also copy the complete help.

14:07.066 --> 14:10.979
If for whatever reason you want to copy this and refer back to it, you can.

14:11.252 --> 14:14.624
Close button. Alt+C. But we're just going to close for now. Open space. Learning blind.

14:14.945 --> 14:16.759
And I'm going to tab back to the tabs.

14:17.177 --> 14:19.280
Save settings button. Cancel button. Formatting defaults tab.

14:19.521 --> 14:20.645
And I'm going to hit right arrow.

14:21.046 --> 14:22.379
Open AI preferences tab selected.

14:22.973 --> 15:32.450
This is here and it gives you a few controls about how the AI integration works with the app. And it's a good place for me to stop and say there are a lot of features that you can do with an API key from OpenAI. OpenAI is the only AI model we support in the app right now. I'm going to demonstrate some of this during this presentation, but you can totally create presentations and do all of that without an API key from OpenAI. This just gives you some really neat features if you're interested in doing those. The user guide has a lot of information about how you can find an API key, how you can put it in the app, all of that stuff. So if you want to do that, you can do that. If you have Lisi, another one of the Harchin Consultancy products, the app may already have your API key and you may be ready to go. But again, consult the user guide for all of that. I'm just gonna hit the right arrow.

15:32.450 --> 15:34.087
API connection tab selected.

15:34.087 --> 15:44.327
I'm not gonna go near this for this demonstration 'cause mine is working, but I just wanna show you that it's here. With all of this done, I'm gonna Shift+Tab.

15:44.327 --> 15:46.879
Cancel button. Close this dialog and discard its pending changes.

15:46.879 --> 15:55.722
And I'm just gonna cancel because I don't think I changed anything, but I like the settings the way they are for now, and I just wanna get outta here without doing any damage.

15:55.722 --> 15:59.927
Space. Learning Blind Tech Presentable. Add slide button. Control+Shift+N. Choose a layout and insert a

15:59.959 --> 16:35.811
new— Okay, we're back to where we were, and now I'm going to start creating a brief presentation to show off the basic features of how you create a presentation with Presentable. And what I want to say at the outset is, because my focus is showing you the app, this presentation that we're creating now is absolute nonsense. The slides will make no sense. They won't relate to each other. It's just to demonstrate the features of the app, and you'll see why I'm saying that as we work through this. So I'm going to hit spacebar.

16:36.197 --> 16:39.233
Space. Add slide dialog. Slide type list box. Title slide. 1 of 12.

16:39.972 --> 17:09.160
We have 12 slide layout types, and the layout types control what kinds of things you can put on a slide and what areas of the app will be made available to you. The title slide is our first choice, which makes sense because most of the time you're going to start your presentation with its title. I'm going to down arrow through these pretty quickly. I will stop on some of them and explain a little bit.

17:09.737 --> 17:10.795
Title and bullets, 2 of 12.

17:11.340 --> 17:16.294
Self-explanatory and the most common content slide you're probably going to use.

17:16.486 --> 17:19.371
Text only, 3 of 12. Image only, 4 of 12.

17:19.996 --> 18:14.960
Image only is an interesting one. Before Presentable, I used to use image only slides in PowerPoint a lot because I wanted to not worry about my text and image crowding each other out. With PresentABLE, I don't have that problem, but I will say that I left image only in here for a very specific reason. In doing more wonky research, I discovered that it's a good idea to do things like screenshots on their own slide or a slide where you want to make sure there's more detail shown. Don't take away the focus from your image with some text bullets. If you have an image that really is the dominant piece, use an image-only slide and put whatever you want to say about it in the speaker's notes for the slide.

18:16.180 --> 18:17.657
Image left, text right, 5 of 12.

18:18.026 --> 18:20.621
And these are all pretty self-explanatory.

18:20.621 --> 18:22.144
Text left, image right, 6 of 12.

18:22.144 --> 18:47.976
I will just briefly say one of the other things I learned in putting these together is if you pick image left, text right, or image right and text left, you should stick with it throughout the same presentation. Just be consistent. You can change from presentation to presentation, but you should probably be consistent within the same presentation for Visual impact.

18:48.410 --> 18:50.305
Large image left, short text right. 7 of 12.

18:50.305 --> 19:31.872
Large image left and small text right. Basically what this is doing is instead of giving you roughly 50% of the slide for your text and your image, it's giving you about 60% of the slide for your image and 40% for your text. So this is— I think of this as kind of like the middle ground between The image-only slide, which has no text, and the image left, text right slide that has both image and text. If you want to say 2 or 3 really quick bullets about the image, but the image is most of what you want people focusing on, pick this one.

19:32.145 --> 19:33.846
Short text left, large image right. 8 of 12.

19:34.151 --> 19:35.338
And again, just the reverse.

19:35.626 --> 19:36.429
Table 9 of 12.

19:37.054 --> 20:14.446
Tables are very accessible in Presentable, both creating them and navigating them. When you create them in the app, they do export and are perfectly accessible within PowerPoint. I will say that they're a little— I don't want to say difficult to use, but the whole idea of tables can sometimes be complicated, especially for people who can't see them. So if people are interested, we could probably do like a brief 15-minute episode and just focus on tables. So I'm not gonna focus on them at all today. I'm just doing this to show you what's here.

20:14.446 --> 20:15.956
Title of video, 10 of 12.

20:15.956 --> 20:22.044
We do support video in the app, and we will be demonstrating this today.

20:22.044 --> 20:26.044
Video left, text right, 11 of 12. Text left, video right, 12 of 12.

20:26.044 --> 21:01.805
And that's just the same thing. Which side do you want your video on, and which side do you want the text on? I would say, and this is just my personal view of it, Right now, it could change. But if I'm putting a video, I'm just going to use title and video because I want the video to be the dominant thing on the slide. But because people have different workflows, I have all of this here, and so you can use it if if it actually fits your workflow. For our purposes, though, I'm just going to go back to the top with Control Home.

21:01.998 --> 21:02.929
Title slide one of twelve.

21:03.186 --> 21:05.965
And I'm going to insert my title slide with spacebar.

21:05.965 --> 21:11.813
Space. Slide added. Learning Blind Tech Presentable. Slide title edit. Alt+L. Edit the selected slide's title. Escape returns to the slides list.

21:11.813 --> 21:18.480
And now I'm just going to add my title and sticking with what I said is my practice, I'm going to do Learning Blind Tech.

21:18.480 --> 21:19.589
Learning Blind Tech.

21:19.589 --> 21:24.199
And now I'm just going to tab through so you get a flavor of what's here.

21:24.199 --> 21:29.565
Layout combo box. Title slide. 1 of 12. Ctrl+Shift+L. Choose how the slide arranges its title text, images, and tables.

21:30.416 --> 22:19.705
As I said, the layout determines how the slide looks and what content pieces are available to you. This box here will allow you to change the layout if you want to. There's a keystroke to come back to it, Ctrl+Shift+L. JAWS told us this. There are features you can do, like for example, and I'm probably not going to demonstrate this today, but just so you know, if you have a text paragraph slide and you say, you know what, I want that to be a bulleted slide, You can change the layout from text to bullets, and then there are features in the app to convert the items in your content area between text and bullets. So you can change the layout and the items without having to delete things and start all over again. And I'm just going to tab.

22:19.866 --> 22:24.244
Content tab selected. Ctrl+Shift+J. Choose an available slide page with left or right arrow, then tab into its controls.

22:24.661 --> 22:34.392
And just to demonstrate this, I'm on the Content tab. This is the tab area for the slide that I have currently selected. I'm going to hit right arrow.

22:34.697 --> 22:36.657
Speaker Notes tab selected. Content Speaker Notes.

22:37.107 --> 22:41.701
So because this is a title slide, I have Speaker's Notes.

22:42.343 --> 22:43.243
Content tab selected.

22:43.372 --> 22:45.636
And Content. I'm going to tab so you see.

22:45.781 --> 22:51.227
Content Items list box, 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+1. Choose a content item with up or down arrow. Enter, edit it. Space marks items for group actions.

22:51.644 --> 23:03.268
And I just want to warn you of this. If you do this There's not the area on your title slide to do this. A title slide really should not have content. So I'm just going to tab.

23:03.364 --> 23:06.585
Add bullet button. Ctrl+Shift. Add text button. Ctrl+Shift+T. Write a new paragraph.

23:06.729 --> 23:15.654
And now I'm going to not go through these yet because I want to demonstrate them. So I'm going to insert a new slide. We have a keystroke for that called Ctrl+Shift+N.

23:16.103 --> 23:19.227
Ctrl+Shift+N. Add slide dialog. Slide title list box. Title slide. What?

23:19.612 --> 23:20.669
And I'm going to down arrow.

23:21.006 --> 23:22.111
Title and bullets. 2 of 12.

23:22.496 --> 23:25.128
And I want a title and bullet slide, so I'm going to hit Enter.

23:25.561 --> 23:30.230
Slide added. Learning blind tech presentable. Slide title edit. Hold L. Edit the selected slide's title. Escape returns to the slides list.

23:31.241 --> 23:39.810
Now I'm in the title field for the second slide, and so we can all follow this as I work along, I'm just going to call this bulleted slide.

23:40.323 --> 23:41.254
Slide. Bulleted slide.

23:42.329 --> 23:50.255
Okay, and now I'm going to hit Alt+Ctrl+1, which is a keystroke to jump me directly to the content area.

23:50.656 --> 23:56.825
Alt+Ctrl+1. Content items list box. 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+1. Choose a content item with up or down arrow. Enter. Edit. Space marks items for group actions.

23:56.825 --> 24:02.690
The keystroke here to add a bullet is Ctrl+Shift+B, so I'm going to do that.

24:02.690 --> 24:05.094
Ctrl+Shift+B. Add bullet dialog. Text. Text edit.

24:05.094 --> 24:07.418
And I'm going to type first bullet.

24:07.418 --> 24:10.446
F-I-R-S-T. First. B-U-L-L-E-T.

24:10.446 --> 24:12.209
Now I'm going to hit Tab.

24:12.209 --> 24:14.853
Bullet. Save button. Alt+S. Accept the text entered and add bullet.

24:14.853 --> 24:26.296
Now when I hit this spacebar and save this bullet. It's not saving the project. All it is is inserting the bullet into the presentation.

24:26.296 --> 24:31.633
Space. List content item added. Content items list box. Content items. 1 of 1. Control+Alt+1. Choose a—

24:31.633 --> 24:35.415
What if I didn't know the keystroke? I'm going to tab from here.

24:35.415 --> 24:39.005
Add bullet button. Control+Shift+E. Write a new bullet item for the selected slide.

24:39.005 --> 24:42.146
There's my add bullet button. So I'm going to hit spacebar.

24:42.146 --> 24:46.169
Space. Add bullet dialog. Text. Text edit. Alt+E. Write 1 bullet item, then choose save to add it.

24:46.746 --> 24:48.158
And I'm going to hit second bullet.

24:48.430 --> 24:50.868
S-E-C-O-N-D. Second bullet.

24:51.894 --> 24:54.861
And now I'm going to use the Alt+S shortcut key.

24:55.727 --> 25:00.747
Bullet content item added. Content items list box 2. Bullet. Second bullet. 2 of 2. Control+Alt+1. Choose a— And

25:00.940 --> 25:15.522
now I have 2 bullets in my slide. I want to add one more, but just to show the different functionality we've built into the app, this time I'm going to add my third bullet By using the context menu, so I'm going to hit Shift F10.

25:15.859 --> 25:17.801
Shift context menu, add bullet, Control Shift E,

25:18.123 --> 25:20.627
and add bullet right at the top. I'm going to hit Enter.

25:20.948 --> 25:26.456
Leaving menus, content items list box two, bullet, second bullet, two of two, add bullet dialog, text, text edit, Alt T, write one bullet.

25:27.274 --> 25:29.008
And now I'm just going to type third bullet.

25:29.057 --> 25:32.091
T H I R D, third, B U L L E, T.

25:32.396 --> 25:32.766
Alt S,

25:33.215 --> 25:39.011
bullet content item added, content items list box, content items three of three, Control Alt One, choose a content item with up or down arrow, enter edited.

25:39.156 --> 25:49.274
Now I have my three bullets. What if I don't like the order? What if I say, you know, this third bullet here really should be first? I'm going to tab.

25:49.482 --> 25:57.834
Add bullet button. Add text button. Control edit button. Alt E. Open the selected content items. Remove item button. Move up button. Control shift up arrow. Move marked content items or the current item within the slide text.

25:58.395 --> 25:59.549
And I'm going to hit the spacebar.

26:00.303 --> 26:04.166
Stay moved content item bullet. Third bullet above bullet. Second bullet. Now content item 2 of 3.

26:05.192 --> 26:11.660
And look at the feedback I get. Now I know that's now number 2. Now I'm going to hit the spacebar again to move it up.

26:11.660 --> 26:16.100
Space. Moved content item bullet. 3rd bullet above bullet. 1st bullet. Now content item 1 of 3.

26:16.100 --> 26:19.400
Now I'm going to Shift+Tab back to my content area.

26:19.400 --> 26:31.920
Remove item button. Edit button. Alt+D. Add text button. Add bullet button. Content items list box. 1. Bullet. 3rd bullet. 1 of 3. Ctrl+Alt+1. Choose a content item with up or down. 2. Bullet. 1st bullet. 2 of 3. 3. Bullet. 2nd bullet. 3 of 3.

26:31.920 --> 26:45.765
And you see that my order is now changed. My 3rd bullet is first, which is what I wanted. What if I say, you know what? the second bullet to actually be second. I'm going to use the Ctrl+Shift+Up Arrow keystroke.

26:45.765 --> 26:50.253
Move content item bullet. Second bullet above bullet. First bullet. Now content item 2 of 3.

26:50.253 --> 27:32.455
And there we go. So I have completely rearranged the bullets in this content area. And this now, if, you know, I made this a presentation and left it like this, that's how they would display on this slide. I just wanted people to know that that same rule applies if you put in text paragraphs. If you have text paragraphs, You can change the order just like I did with the bullets. I'm not going to demonstrate it here, but you can also delete. If you say, oh, I don't want that bullet anymore, you can just delete it. Same thing is true with a text paragraph. Now I want to show the image stuff because I think that's what a lot of folks are interested in. So I'm going to hit Ctrl+Shift+N.

27:32.455 --> 27:34.827
Ctrl+Shift+N. Add slide dialog. Slide type.

27:34.827 --> 27:38.225
And now I'm in my add slide type list again.

27:38.225 --> 27:40.821
Text only. Image only. Image left. Text right. 5 of 12.

27:41.206 --> 27:49.391
For some reason, I decided I use image left and text right. I don't know why that is, but that's the one I use. So that's the one I'm going to use today.

27:49.904 --> 27:54.638
Slide added. Learning line text presentable. Slide title edit. Alt+L. Edit the selected slide's title. Escape returns to the slides list.

27:55.649 --> 27:59.003
And again, I'm going to put in my title. So I'm just going to call this

27:59.613 --> 28:00.094
image text.

28:00.544 --> 28:09.692
So that's my title, image text. And now I'm going to hit Alt+Ctrl+1 to go back to my Content area.

28:09.692 --> 28:16.130
Alt+Ctrl+1. Content items list box. 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+1. Choose a content item with up or down arrow. Enter. Edit. Space marks items for group actions.

28:16.130 --> 28:20.529
And I'm just going to hit Ctrl+Shift+B to add another bullet.

28:20.529 --> 28:24.398
Ctrl+Shift+B. Add bullet dialog. Text. Text edit. Alt+T. Write 1 bullet item, then choose it.

28:24.398 --> 28:25.859
And I'm just going to type—

28:25.859 --> 28:26.742
Yo-Yo is my cat.

28:26.742 --> 28:31.606
Yo-Yo is my cat. That's my first bullet. I'm going to insert it with Alt+S.

28:31.606 --> 28:34.255
Alt+S. Content item added. Content items list box. Content item.

28:34.432 --> 28:35.842
I'm going to add one more bullet.

28:35.842 --> 28:38.614
Ctrl+Shift+E. Add bullet dialog. Loves to give me clawies.

28:38.614 --> 28:42.284
And that's going to be my second bullet. I'm going to hit Alt+S.

28:42.284 --> 28:44.174
Alt+S. Content item added. Content item.

28:44.174 --> 28:49.318
Now I want to add my image. I'm going to hit Alt+Ctrl+2 to go to my image area.

28:49.318 --> 28:51.994
Alt+Ctrl+2. Images list box. 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+2.

28:51.994 --> 28:57.026
And obviously I don't have an image here yet, so it said 0 items. So I'm going to Tab.

28:57.026 --> 29:00.711
Add image button. Ctrl+Alt+I. Choose a local picture and review its properties before adding it.

29:01.498 --> 29:13.918
So you can create an image with OpenAI from within Presentable. I'm not going to go through that here, but you can. In this case, I'm just going to put in an image that I have on the computer. So I'm going to hit the spacebar.

29:14.208 --> 29:16.762
Space. File name. Choose image dialog. File name. Edit.

29:17.164 --> 29:18.225
And I'm going to hit Shift+Tab.

29:18.562 --> 29:20.072
Items view list box. Items view list.

29:20.458 --> 29:26.740
And because I selected my images folder in the preferences folder tab, I'm going to hit Y.

29:27.223 --> 29:28.581
Y yo-yo PNG 11 of 11.

29:28.581 --> 29:31.668
There's my yo-yo picture. I'm gonna hit Enter.

29:31.668 --> 29:38.199
Enter. Tab. Learning line. Text. Present table. Sliced. Tab. Selected. Image properties dialog. Alternative text explains the image to someone who cannot see it.

29:38.199 --> 30:09.735
Now up come the image's properties. You can do a lot of things in here. You can change the cropping, for example. All of that is explained in the user guide. It's way beyond the scope of this demo. But you do have to put in some alternative text, and I'm going to demonstrate that. I'm just going to type in yo-yo. Now this is deliberately bad alt text, and I'm going to show you why. But if you know what your alt text should be, you just put it in right here. Now,

30:10.024 --> 30:12.659
yo-yo decorative image checkbox not checked. Alt D mark only images.

30:13.061 --> 30:35.693
The only time I would ever use this is if somebody was paying me, required me to put a watermark or some kind of logo on a slide or in a presentation. And because that might happen to people, the decorative checkbox is here, and that of course will make the image decorative and will hide it from screen readers and assistive technology. I'm going to hit Tab.

30:35.853 --> 30:38.899
Save Changes button. Alt+S. Apply the pending description. Crop and source changes.

30:39.284 --> 30:45.535
And I'm going to apply the changes that I made. In this case, it was adding my simplified alt text.

30:45.808 --> 30:48.694
Space. Choose image layout dialog. Layout list box. Image left. Text right.

30:48.694 --> 30:57.657
And it's reminding me, hey, this is the image, or this is the slide layout you chose. Is that really what you want? Yes, it is. It's the one I always use.

30:57.657 --> 31:00.383
OK button. Auto. Accept the selected choice and choose image layout.

31:00.383 --> 31:02.580
And I'm going to hit spacebar on OK.

31:02.580 --> 31:06.765
Space. Learn image added. Images list box 1. Yo-Yo PNG. Alt text present. 1 of 1.

31:06.765 --> 31:15.251
OK. And I have an image. My alt text is present. But now that was deliberately bad alt text. So I'm gonna tab through here.

31:15.251 --> 31:23.430
Add image button. Control properties button. Control remove image button. Remove described image with OpenAI button. Control Alt Shift D. Ask OpenAI to propose alternative text for the selected image. Then review and edit it.

31:23.430 --> 31:34.919
There you go. So I'm gonna hit spacebar on this and have OpenAI through the use of my API key help me create alternative text for this image of Yo-Yo.

31:34.919 --> 31:39.097
Space. Image description emphasis dialog. Optional emphasis. Optional emphasis edit. Alt D. Optional.

31:39.386 --> 31:49.438
You can use emphasis that always comes with every description or not. That's something you can set in the Preferences pane. I'm just going to tab.

31:49.662 --> 31:57.803
Save button. Alt+S. Accept the text. Enter an image description emphasis. Space. Learning Blind Tech. Presentable. Describe image with OpenAI button. Review page. OpenAI request dialog. Request details. Read-only. Yes.

31:58.269 --> 32:12.730
Now you can turn this off in the OpenAI Preferences. I left it on because it's the default. So now every time I want to submit a request to OpenAI, I'm asked to check a box to see if I really want to approve it.

32:12.960 --> 32:19.020
I approve this paid request checkbox not checked. Alt+A. Check this only after reviewing the request. It enables submit request without sending yet. Space. Check.

32:19.020 --> 32:20.090
I'm going to check it.

32:20.200 --> 32:21.260
Submit request button. Alt+S.

32:21.260 --> 32:23.660
And I'm going to submit my request to OpenAI.

32:24.100 --> 32:34.980
Space. Request submitted. Learning line text presentable. Describe image with OpenAI button. Request finished. Learning line text presentable. Describe image with OpenAI button. Review proposed alternative text dialog. Proposed alternative text. Proposed alternative text edit. Alt+T. Describe what this image contributes to the slide for someone who cannot see it.

32:37.329 --> 32:44.050
Sometimes I've found that when this opens, the focus goes to the bottom, so I'm just going to hit Ctrl+Home to make sure I'm at the top.

32:44.050 --> 32:48.702
Top. Close-up of a tabby cat's face with large yellow eyes, prominent whiskers, and striped fur lying on the green fabric.

32:48.702 --> 33:01.293
In this case, the green fabric is actually a shirt of mine, but that's obviously vastly superior to my alt text of yo-yo, so I'm going to hit Tab.

33:01.293 --> 33:06.392
Save button. Alt+S. Accept the text entered and review proposed alternative text. Space. Alternative text updated.

33:06.392 --> 33:08.908
And now I should have my alt text in here.

33:08.908 --> 33:12.353
Remove image button. Remove properties button. Ctrl+Alt+C. Edit.

33:12.353 --> 33:14.484
I'm just going to go into the properties.

33:14.484 --> 33:18.058
Space. Image properties dialog. Alternative text explains the image to someone who—

33:18.058 --> 33:21.070
And I'm going to hit Ctrl+Home to make sure I'm at the top.

33:21.070 --> 33:25.477
Top. Close-up of a tabby cat's face with large yellow eyes, prominent whiskers, and striped fur lying on the green fabric.

33:25.477 --> 33:32.609
And there it is. The OpenAI alt text has now replaced my alt text. And now I'm going to Shift Tab.

33:32.785 --> 33:36.378
Description. Tab. Cancel button. Save changes button. Space. Learning Blind Tech. Presentable.

33:36.779 --> 33:40.371
And I haven't done it yet actually, so I'm just going to save this presentation.

33:40.788 --> 33:43.113
Ctrl S. Save presentable project dialog. File name.

33:43.675 --> 33:46.994
And I'm going to type Learning Blind Tech. And I'm just going to hit Enter.

33:47.363 --> 33:51.533
Project saved. Learning Blind Tech. Presentable. Properties button. Ctrl Alt C. Edit the selected images. Alternate.

33:51.693 --> 34:00.576
And it takes me back to the Properties button where I was. Now I'm going to show Working with video, so I'm going to hit Ctrl+Shift+N.

34:01.170 --> 34:03.734
Ctrl+Shift+N. Add slide dialog. Slide type list box image.

34:04.295 --> 34:07.357
And now I'm going to add my video and title slide.

34:07.485 --> 34:10.483
Text left large image short text table nine of twelve title and video ten of twelve.

34:10.868 --> 34:12.936
I'm going to hit Enter to insert the slide.

34:12.984 --> 34:15.821
Slide added. Learning line text present table. Slide title edit hotel edit facility.

34:16.783 --> 34:18.642
And I'm going to type family fun.

34:19.203 --> 34:19.957
Fun family fun.

34:20.871 --> 34:23.836
There we go. Now I need to insert a video.

34:24.077 --> 34:26.866
Layout combo box title and video ten of twelve. Ctrl+Shift+L choose.

34:27.138 --> 34:28.870
There's my reminder. Hey, you chose.

34:29.260 --> 34:32.610
Audio and Video tab selected. Ctrl+Shift+J. Choose an available—

34:32.610 --> 34:35.760
Now I'm on my Audio/Video tab. I'm going to tab.

34:35.760 --> 34:38.110
Recordings list box. 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+4.

34:38.110 --> 34:39.560
And I don't have a recording.

34:39.560 --> 34:42.270
Add Audio button. Ctrl+Alt+V. Add Video button. Ctrl+Alt+V.

34:42.270 --> 34:45.410
Here's what we want. I want to add this video. So I'm going to hit space.

34:45.410 --> 34:47.070
Space. File name. Choose video.

34:47.070 --> 34:48.040
And I'm going to Shift+Tab.

34:48.040 --> 34:52.630
Items view list box. Header. Name split button collapsed. About present table. Present.

34:52.630 --> 34:54.450
And I'm going to hit S.

34:54.450 --> 34:56.980
S. Swimming Pool with Family. MP4. 6 of 6.

34:57.260 --> 34:59.020
Don't we wish right now?

34:59.020 --> 35:03.100
Yes, we do. Now I'm going to hit Enter to add this video.

35:03.100 --> 35:17.660
Enter. Tab. Learning Blind Tech Presentable. Slides tab selected. Presentable working dialog. Reading recording information. Please wait. The result will open when the operation finishes. Left-right scroll bar. Learning Blind Tech Presentable. Add video button. Choose video layout dialog. Video layout list box. Title of video. 1 of 3. Alt+L. Choose where the video and any text will appear on the slide.

35:17.660 --> 35:22.840
And now I have a preview area. I'm going to tab through this.

35:22.840 --> 35:24.080
OK button. Alt+O.

35:24.080 --> 35:32.078
Now, as in with the images, I have to accept the layout. And in this case, it is what I want, so I'm going to hit space on OK.

35:32.078 --> 35:39.047
Space. Learning Line Tech Presentable. Add video button. Video properties dialog. Recording name edit. Swimming pool with family. Alt+N. Enter a meaningful name. The existing name.

35:39.047 --> 35:40.701
And that's fine with me.

35:40.701 --> 35:46.192
Start playback combo box on the next presentation step. 1 of 2. Alt+S. Choose automatic playback or playback on the next presentation step.

35:46.192 --> 35:55.165
This is interesting. This gives you 2 choices. The next step is, do you want the thing to just Wait until you play it.

35:55.165 --> 35:57.184
Automatically when the slide appears. 2 of 2.

35:57.184 --> 36:05.471
Or do you want it to automatically play? This is a choice that obviously will probably depend on what you're doing and why you're doing it.

36:05.471 --> 36:07.282
On the next presentation step. 1 of 2.

36:07.282 --> 36:11.914
And I'm just gonna leave that there for now. That's how I've used it so far.

36:11.914 --> 36:25.297
Volume combo box. 100%. 101 of 101. Alt+V. Choose a volume from 0 through to 100%. Mute recording checkbox not checked. Alt+M. Check to silence this recording. Uncheck to use its selected volume. Preview recording button. Alt+P. Open the local preview player or open an online video.

36:25.297 --> 36:35.992
I think I would do this every time just to make sure my video is actually playing. So I'm gonna preview this recording now and you'll get to hear the fun we had in the pool.

36:35.992 --> 36:45.073
Space. Video properties dialog. Recording name. Preview recording dialog. Swimming pool with family. Play button. Alt+P. Play the recording from the current preview position. Space.

36:48.726 --> 37:07.313
So in this video, we're in a pool and Desiree is on my back. Our 12-year-old Nikki is on my Aunt Barb's back, and we're playing a game to see who can knock the other person off the back. My mom is videoing and making a lot of noise.

37:07.313 --> 37:16.263
Over here. There it is. No, no, no!

37:18.108 --> 37:22.833
And as you could hear, Desiree and I lost, and Barb and Nikki won.

37:23.285 --> 37:24.576
Womp womp.

37:25.237 --> 37:26.577
Now I'm gonna keep tabbing.

37:26.916 --> 37:33.316
Pause button, Alt+U. Pause stop button, Alt+S. Close button, Alt+C. Close this window and return to the control that opened it. Play button, Alt+E. Play the recording from the—

37:33.316 --> 37:36.118
There's the whole dialogue. I'm gonna go back and close.

37:36.279 --> 37:42.002
Learning blind tech presentable. Recording information button, Alt+I. Read save recording button, Alt+R. Accept these recording properties and return to

37:42.322 --> 37:51.989
And this is what I want to do. Now, this— once I hit this save button, this will be fully in the slide and the slide will be fully in the presentation. So I'm going to hit space.

37:52.230 --> 37:55.345
Space. Video added. Focuses and recordings. List box. Learning blind tech presentable.

37:55.875 --> 38:00.034
There we go. Now, because this is a pretty important step, I'm just going to save again.

38:00.388 --> 38:00.934
Project saved.

38:01.431 --> 38:06.377
And there we go. That's how you can work with video, adding a video to your presentation.

38:06.730 --> 38:07.260
Super cool.

38:07.694 --> 38:12.479
It is super cool. I've never done that until I started playing with the app.

38:12.977 --> 38:13.298
Yeah.

38:13.298 --> 38:19.283
And to give him his due, this was a feature Brian thought we should have. And so he added it in.

38:19.283 --> 38:31.832
And you can add audio too. So if you ever wanted to just record something just to say, if you're in a presentation and you want it to be, hey, I might forget what I'm going to say and I just want to play this bit here, you can do that.

38:31.832 --> 38:35.026
Or if it's like a demo of JAWS or something.

38:35.026 --> 38:38.604
Or a part of learning blind tech. You could play it in your presentation.

38:38.604 --> 38:54.845
You absolutely could. Yeah, you can add audio, exclusively audio, or you can add video files to the presentation just like that. Another thing that I want to talk about is this whole idea of speaker's notes. So to do that, I'm going to create a new slide.

38:54.941 --> 38:57.188
Ctrl+Shift+N, add slide dialog, slide type list.

38:57.445 --> 38:59.820
And I want a title and bullet slide.

39:00.013 --> 39:03.880
Table, 9 of 12, short text, large text, image, image only, text only, title and bullets, 2 of 12.

39:04.426 --> 39:06.143
And I'm going to hit Enter to insert this.

39:06.448 --> 39:08.855
Slide added, learning line text presentable, slide title edit, hotel.

39:08.984 --> 39:12.045
And now I'm just going to add in notes.

39:12.045 --> 39:13.455
Notes. Notes.

39:13.455 --> 39:20.136
We're not being fancy here. And I'm going to hit Alt+Ctrl+1 to get back to my content area.

39:20.136 --> 39:23.501
Alt+Ctrl+1. Content items list box. 0 items. Ctrl+Alt+1.

39:23.501 --> 39:28.163
And now I'm going to add my first bullet with Ctrl+Shift+B.

39:28.163 --> 39:29.509
Ctrl+Shift+B. Add bullet.

39:29.509 --> 39:31.656
And I'm going to type born blind.

39:31.656 --> 39:35.998
B-O-R-N. Born. B-L-I-N-D. Blind. Born blind.

39:35.998 --> 39:37.873
And I'm going to save it with Alt+S.

39:38.620 --> 39:40.450
Alt+S, content item added. Content.

39:40.450 --> 39:42.390
And I'm going to add another bullet.

39:42.390 --> 39:44.710
Ctrl+Shift+B, add bullet dialog.

39:44.710 --> 39:47.380
And I'm going to add wife and 3 stepdaughters.

39:47.380 --> 39:50.770
Wife and 3 stepdaughters. Save button. Alt+S, accept space. List content item added. And

39:50.770 --> 39:55.080
I've saved it. And I want one more. So I'm going to hit Ctrl+Shift+B again.

39:55.080 --> 39:57.110
Ctrl+Shift+B, add bullet dialog.

39:57.110 --> 39:59.730
And now I'm going to type dog and 2 cats.

39:59.730 --> 40:00.740
Dog and 2 cats.

40:00.740 --> 40:02.650
And I'm going to save it.

40:02.650 --> 40:06.490
Save button. Alt+Space. List content item added. Content items list box. Content items, 3 of 3.

40:07.039 --> 40:27.449
Okay, now I have my 3 bullets. And one of the longstanding issues with those of us who are blind who have been doing presentations on a somewhat regular basis is how do we link our speaker's notes to the bullets they apply to, to give a presentation that's more natural and flowing?

40:28.107 --> 40:30.096
We copy them in the speaker notes.

40:30.514 --> 40:55.548
And people have devised all kinds of workarounds. That's one of them. But now, because of what we've done with Presentable, and those of you who are on Mastodon may know this was kind of a hot-button topic this week for a little while, you can actually link your speaker's notes to the bullet they apply to. So I'm just going to go up one.

40:55.984 --> 40:57.937
2. Bullet. Wife with 3 stepdaughters. 2 of 3.

40:58.663 --> 41:04.566
And now I want to link a speaker's note passage to this. I'm going to open my context menu with Shift+F10.

41:05.950 --> 41:08.040
Shift. Context menu. Add bullet. Control+Shift.

41:08.040 --> 41:10.340
I'm going to down arrow through my menu items.

41:10.340 --> 41:13.120
Add text. Add link. Edit item. Enter. Speaker notes for this item.

41:13.120 --> 41:14.610
And I'm going to hit Enter.

41:14.610 --> 41:25.680
Leaving menus. Content items list box. 2. Bullet. Wifin' 3 stepdaughters. 2 of 3. Speaker notes for this item dialog. Content item. Wifin' 3 stepdaughters. Item. Speaker notes. Item. Speaker notes edit. Write notes for this item. Tab to save and press Enter or Space when finished.

41:25.680 --> 41:30.280
For this bullet, I want the related text to be—

41:30.280 --> 41:34.020
Top. The oldest is a college graduate. The youngest 2 live with us. We have a high school freshman and a 7th grader.

41:34.969 --> 41:37.597
So that's what I want to be linked. Now I'm going to hit Tab.

41:38.077 --> 41:40.930
Move the General Notes button. Move these notes to the General Speaker Notes for this slide.

41:41.266 --> 42:10.733
Now, if you change your mind and you're like, you know what, I really don't want these to be linked, I just want them in the footnotes, you can use this button here and the bullet text and these speaker's notes will be together in your speaker's notes, but they won't be linked. And the difference does matter. And we're going to go into this extensively in the next demo we do where we cover how to use Presentable to prepare to present.

42:11.149 --> 42:11.534
Save button.

42:12.431 --> 42:14.098
For now, I just want to save this.

42:14.786 --> 42:21.196
Space. List items. Speaker notes saved. Content items list box. Content items 2 of 3. Control Alt 1. 3. Bullet. Dog and 2 cats. 3 of 3.

42:21.740 --> 42:32.723
So I want to put some related text for dog and 2 cats. So I'm going to hit Shift+F10 to get into my context menu again and again. You can tab to the button if you want to.

42:33.430 --> 42:36.900
Shift context menu, add bullet, add tag, add link, edit item, enter speaker notes for this item.

42:37.221 --> 42:38.088
And I'm going to hit Enter.

42:38.201 --> 42:41.558
Leaving menus, content items list box 3, bullet, dog and 2 cats, 3 of 3.

42:41.783 --> 42:49.862
And now I'm just going to put in what I want to be the related speaker note to this particular bullet in my presentation.

42:50.457 --> 42:52.079
Top, the dog is as a raised guide dog, Briar.

42:52.641 --> 42:56.978
There we go. That's what I want. And now I want to save this. So I'm going to tab.

42:57.058 --> 42:57.749
Move to general notes button.

42:58.006 --> 42:58.872
And I'm going to tab again.

42:58.872 --> 42:59.578
Save button.

42:59.578 --> 43:01.359
And I'm going to save this. Space.

43:01.471 --> 43:04.632
List items. Speaker notes saved. Content items list box. Content items. 3 of 3.

43:04.632 --> 43:07.793
And just to keep good habits, I'm going to save my project.

43:07.793 --> 43:08.386
Project saved.

43:08.386 --> 43:27.758
And now I'm going to deviate just a bit, and I'm not going to talk about how I did this at all because it goes much more into developing your actual presentation, and we're going to cover this next time. But I just want to show you so So everything's clean on this presentation that it actually does work.

43:28.128 --> 43:29.639
Speaker's notes: MD Lisi Word edit.

43:30.024 --> 43:57.782
I'm in a purely text file in an application called Lisi Word. In case you can't tell, I love Lisi. And all this is is text that I took from Presentable that it helped me create. And again, we'll talk about this next time. And I put it in here so I could show you what. It created for me with regards to the slide we just made with the speaker's notes linked to their relative bullets.

43:58.279 --> 44:00.298
Slide 1. Title, First Notes Example.

44:00.698 --> 44:07.813
Now this is junk because this slide is in a totally different presentation, but the text is the same.

44:08.695 --> 44:09.480
Layout, Title and Bullets.

44:09.912 --> 44:12.605
And again, Title and Bullets is telling me what I did.

44:12.877 --> 44:15.249
Land. Slide text. 1. Board lines.

44:16.162 --> 44:19.609
And you'll remember that was my first bullet, born blind.

44:19.929 --> 44:21.148
2. Wife and 3 stepdaughters.

44:21.693 --> 44:29.067
There was no speaker's notes linked to that one because it's pretty self-explanatory. I didn't give it any. Now I'm going to down arrow.

44:29.228 --> 44:34.758
Blank. Speaker notes. The oldest is a college graduate. The youngest 2 live with us. We have a high school freshman and a 7th grader.

44:35.319 --> 44:39.728
They're linked in my document now. I'm going to down arrow.

44:39.872 --> 44:41.379
Blank. 3. A dog and 2 cats.

44:41.961 --> 44:42.562
And down arrow.

44:42.610 --> 44:45.222
Blank speaker notes. The dog is as a raised guide dog. Briar.

44:45.936 --> 44:46.358
They're linked.

44:46.439 --> 44:46.812
Nice.

44:47.071 --> 45:03.690
So when I take the, the presentation creation features, when I give the presentation, the speaker's notes are now directly under the bullet they relate to. And this is truly going to change the way I personally give presentations.

45:03.836 --> 45:19.581
Yeah, yeah, me too. You used to just read the bullets separate. I did. I would try to incorporate my bullets, but sometimes I'm like, oh, did I forget that bullet or that? Because I don't want to go back and forth. So this definitely is huge.

45:19.581 --> 46:15.621
It's huge. And the final substantive things I want to show are about warnings and errors and all the things that help us as blind people make sure that our presentations will visually work to the largely sighted world. To do this, I'm also going to show the reusable slides feature. I created earlier this morning a couple of slides that have warnings, and one is a train wreck. We'll get to that. But this one, the first one, has a text error warning. The reason it does is to give people like me who tend to be wordy an idea of what they're doing. When you're using about 90% of your text area, you'll get a warning. And I'm gonna show that here. So I'm gonna go to reusable slides.

46:15.621 --> 46:19.549
Menu bar. Edit. Slide. Add slide. Add same. Insert reusable slide.

46:19.549 --> 46:21.809
This is what I wanna do. So I'm gonna hit Enter.

46:21.809 --> 46:22.819
Leaving menus.

46:22.819 --> 46:24.358
And I think this one is called—

46:24.358 --> 46:26.089
W. Warning text. 8 of 9.

46:26.089 --> 46:30.770
Warning text. I was right. So I'm gonna hit Enter to insert this slide.

46:30.770 --> 46:40.035
Enter. List reusable slide inserted. Warning text. Slide 6 of 6. Focus is in slides. Slides list box. Slides. 6 of 6. Control L. Choose a slide with up or down arrow. Enter. Edits its title. Space marks it for group actions.

46:40.035 --> 46:49.628
Now focus nicely returned me to the slide list with this in focus. But I want to show you something, so I'm just going to quickly up arrow.

46:49.628 --> 46:50.094
5.

46:50.094 --> 46:52.821
Hit Ctrl and down arrow back to this.

46:52.821 --> 46:55.789
6. Warning text, title and bullets. 1 warning, 6 of 6.

46:55.789 --> 47:11.464
Okay, did you hear JAWS say 1 warning? So it is telling me in real time, Jonathan, there could be an issue with this slide. So I want to inspect this. I'm going to hit Alt+Ctrl+Shift+I. W.

47:12.042 --> 47:15.797
All checks finished. 1 outstanding result. 0 reviewed. Severity combo box. All. 1 result.

47:15.797 --> 47:40.850
There are a lot of things in here, and focus lands on a filter combo box. In here, you can up and down arrow through these choices if you want to filter. I only want to see errors. I only want to see warnings. I only want to see suggestions, or I want to see things marked as reviewed. So I'm just going to hit Tab. And I'm just leaving it on All because there's only one thing with this slide.

47:40.850 --> 47:47.141
Results list box. Warning. Slide 6. Estimated text close to the right edge. 1 of 1. Choose a check result. Can use details. Go to item repair options.

47:47.141 --> 47:52.309
So there's a lot there, but here I have, I have an issue. So I'm just going to hit Tab.

47:52.309 --> 47:55.647
Details button. Alt+E. Read the selected results explanation and suggested next step.

47:55.647 --> 48:02.436
And if I wanted to, I could hit Space and get more details about, in this case, the warning I'm talking about.

48:02.436 --> 48:15.710
Space. Result details dialog. Report read-only edit. Read this report using normal text navigation. Content items, 4. At least one estimated line uses 90% or more of the available width. This is a prompt to review the text, not proof that it is cut off. Shorten the line, use a wider text layout, or confirm it's fit width. Export and analyze.

48:15.710 --> 48:18.600
And now I just want to close this. I'm going to tab.

48:18.600 --> 48:19.900
Copy report button. Alt+Close button.

48:19.900 --> 48:25.130
And again, you— if you want to, you can copy the report to your clipboard, but I'm just going to close the details.

48:25.130 --> 48:29.340
Space. Learning Blind Tech Presentable details button. Alt+E. Go to item button. F8.

48:29.340 --> 48:37.095
And this will take me directly to the content that has the warning associated with it. I'm going to hit space.

48:37.095 --> 48:48.021
Space. Slides list box 6. Warning text. Title and bullets. 1 warning. 6 of 6. Content items list box 4. Bullet. Here's a bullet that will certainly result in the app giving me a warning. It will. 404. Control Alt 1. Choose a content item with a—

48:48.021 --> 48:57.951
So I've made a mess of that deliberately to make this warning. So I want to edit this bullet because I don't want to keep the warning. So I'm going to hit Alt E.

48:58.433 --> 49:00.617
Alt+E. Edit bullet dialog. Text. Text edit. Here's a bullet.

49:00.617 --> 49:03.042
And I'm just going to delete all this. Ctrl+A.

49:03.042 --> 49:03.942
Selected. Here's—

49:03.942 --> 49:04.857
And delete.

49:04.857 --> 49:05.275
Blank.

49:05.275 --> 49:08.471
And just for the purposes of this, I'm just going to type bullet.

49:08.471 --> 49:09.916
B-U-L-L-E-T.

49:09.916 --> 49:12.133
I'm going to tab to my save button.

49:12.133 --> 49:13.530
Bullet. Save button. Alt+S.

49:13.627 --> 49:14.462
Text edit.

49:14.574 --> 49:16.261
Full space. List content. Item updated. Content.

49:16.261 --> 49:22.701
Okay, now I've updated the bullet, and certainly now this will not have any warning. I'm going to hit Ctrl+L.

49:22.701 --> 49:25.479
Ctrl+L. Slides list box. 6. Warning text title.

49:25.479 --> 49:36.237
And I stopped the speech deliberately because I'm back on the slides list. Focus returned to the 6th slide, which is where I was. I'm going to hit up arrow really quick and then down arrow.

49:36.237 --> 49:38.999
5, 6. Warning text title and bullets, 6 of 6.

49:38.999 --> 49:41.825
What did it not say that time?

49:41.825 --> 49:42.676
No warning.

49:42.676 --> 49:47.172
Didn't announce a warning, right? I fixed it. It's fixed.

49:47.172 --> 49:47.862
Nice.

49:47.862 --> 50:17.279
I no longer have a warning. Now I'm going to insert one more slide. This one was deliberately disastrous. It is doubtful that somebody creating a presentation will ever make a slide this inaccessible or bad. But I did this to show the depth and the capabilities of the reporting features we have in Presentable. So I'm going to go back to Insert Reusable Slide.

50:17.327 --> 50:19.975
Menu bar. Edit. Slide. Add. Insert Reusable Slide.

50:20.393 --> 50:20.842
And hit Enter.

50:20.842 --> 50:23.122
Leaving menus. Slides list box. 6. Warning text.

50:23.122 --> 50:33.653
And since a lot of our issues revolve around image and text, I have another image of Yo-Yo with a whole lot of nonsense for text. And so I'm going to hit D.

50:33.653 --> 50:35.339
D. Describing Yo-Yo. 3 of 9.

50:35.339 --> 50:37.298
And I'm going to insert this slide.

50:37.298 --> 50:43.238
Enter. List reusable slide inserted. Describing Yo-Yo. Slide 7 of 7. Focus is in slides. Slides list box. Slides. 7 of 7.

50:43.238 --> 50:45.758
And I'm just going to do my quick up and down arrow.

50:45.758 --> 50:49.612
6. 7. Describing yo-yo. Image left. Text right. 3 warnings. 7 of 7.

50:49.612 --> 50:55.716
Oh boy, I have 3 warnings. So I'm going to hit Ctrl+Shift+W.

50:55.716 --> 50:59.667
All checks finished. 3 outstanding results. 0 reviews. Severity combo box. All. 3.

50:59.667 --> 51:02.623
And I'm just going to leave the filter on all and tab.

51:02.623 --> 51:08.742
Results list box. Warning. Slide 7. Estimated content crowding. 1 of 3. Choose a check result. Then use details. Go to item repair options.

51:08.742 --> 51:11.585
So I have a content crowding warning.

51:11.585 --> 51:17.655
Warning. Slide 7. Estimated text close to the right edge, 2 of 3. Warning, slide 7, bullet 2 is long for a slide, 3 of 3.

51:17.655 --> 51:57.283
So there's 3 different kinds of warnings it can give you. Now, there are a lot of things that we could do from here. I could go to the individual items and try to repair them like I did on the previous slide and all that. But in this case, I want to show you a feature that I really love and use a lot, and it's called Review Slide. What this does is it will send this slide and only this slide to OpenAI and ask it for a whole lot of detail. It will also provide OpenAI details about the slide. You'll see all this in the report. The keystroke for this is Alt+Ctrl+Shift+Y.

51:58.533 --> 52:06.260
Alt+Ctrl+Shift+Y. Presentable working dialog. Rendering and measuring the selected slide locally. Please wait. The result will open when the operation finishes. Left-right scroll bar. List box. Learning blind tech. Presentable.

52:06.324 --> 52:12.257
And now I'm going to down arrow through the report on this slide that OpenAI Source

52:12.257 --> 52:25.043
presentation, 5 content items, all are listed below. PowerPoint found 1 measured error. This slide has not passed its layout checks. An AI opinion cannot clear these findings. PowerPoint rendered measurements. 1 error, 0 warnings, 0 suggestions, 1 information results.

52:25.043 --> 53:14.370
So PowerPoint actually found an error with this slide, and this gives me a good chance to explain that the errors and warnings that we get from within the Presentable app. They're really accurate. They're really good. I love them. They can't be as accurate as exporting and analyzing to PowerPoint for a very simple reason. They don't have the geometry and the stuff available to PowerPoint that PowerPoint does. They're not looking at configured slides. They're guessing based on fonts and slide layouts and all kinds of things. But they're, I think, pretty darn accurate. And I'm just going to arrow through a lot more of this just to show you the kind of detail you can get and the kind of help you can get.

53:14.370 --> 53:22.610
Blank. Information. Slide 7. Title fits. Rendered text 338.4 by 43.2 points. Available 828.0 by 50.0 points.

53:22.610 --> 53:24.830
So my title fits. That was on purpose.

53:24.910 --> 53:32.630
Blank. Error. Slide 7. Content overflow. Rendered text 380.4 by 468.8 points. Available 416.0 by 324.0 points. Text exceeds the available space.

53:35.345 --> 53:39.247
By a lot. I'm gonna keep going.

53:39.247 --> 53:47.004
Item 1, 2 lines, 342.0 by 75.2 points. Item 2, 4 lines, 372.3 by 142.4 points.

53:47.004 --> 54:09.441
And one thing I want to point out as we go through this, it is telling me stuff that I never knew when I did this in PowerPoint. It's telling me, Jonathan, this one bullet is on 4 different slide lines. Right? If you navigate the bullet with JAWS, JAWS in PowerPoint just reads the whole bullet like it's a bullet, right?

54:09.441 --> 54:09.650
Yeah.

54:09.650 --> 54:11.931
You don't know how many lines that is.

54:11.931 --> 54:32.437
Item 3, 2 lines, 361.8 by 75.2 points. Item 4, 3 lines, 380.4 by 108.8 points. Item 5, 2 lines, 351.0 by 67.2 points. Blank. Structural checks and estimated layout warnings. Blank. These are local checks and estimates. Fresh PowerPoint measurements for this slide are listed above. 0 errors, 3 warnings, 0 suggestions, 0 information results.

54:32.437 --> 54:38.304
And now it's taking us through what the local checker found, the local in-app checker.

54:38.304 --> 54:43.000
Warning, slide 7. Estimated content crowding. Text needs approximately 4em spacing. Shorten text or—

54:43.000 --> 54:45.693
I'm now going to pick up speed because there's just a lot here.

54:45.693 --> 55:03.581
Warning, slide 7. Estimated text close to the right edge. Content items 2, 3, 4. At least one estimated line uses 90% or more. That is cut off. Shorten the line. Use a wider text layout or confirm it's fit. Warning, slide 7. Bullet 2 is long for a slide. 15 words approximate content. A long item can fit on the slide and still be difficult to follow. Blank. Item by item visual review.

55:04.417 --> 55:18.813
Here's the really cool part. All of that stuff is interesting, and I, I'm glad it's there, but here's the part where we can use OpenAI to substitute for a sighted person's review of this disaster.

55:18.974 --> 55:53.334
Blank. OpenAI supplied an assessment for every listed item. Coverage does not prove those assessments are correct. Lang. Title. Source text: Describing Yo-Yo. AI visibility: Complete and visible. AI observation: The title describing Yo-Yo is fully visible and fits well at the top left. Lang. Bullet 1. Source text: Yo-Yo is 5 or 6 years old. PowerPoint position: Inside the slide. This does not prove the text is readable. AI visibility: Complete and visible. AI observation: Bullet 1, Yo-Yo is 5 or 6 years old, apostrophe is fully visible and well positioned with no clipping. Lang. Bullet 2. Source text: We don't really know how old he is because we adopted him from a shelter. PowerPoint position: Inside the slide. This does not prove the text is readable. AI visibility complete and visible.

55:53.334 --> 55:55.886
So, so far we're hanging in there.

55:55.886 --> 56:01.309
AI observation. Bullet 2, we don't really know how old he is because we adopted him from a shelter, apostrophe, is fully visible but very close to the right.

56:01.309 --> 56:04.198
So we're getting closer, we're having some trouble.

56:04.198 --> 56:36.702
Edge text lines use around 90% or more of the available width. Blank. Bullet 3. Source text, he was a day from being euthanized. PowerPoint position, inside the slide. This does not prove the text. AI visibility complete and visible. AI observation. Bullet 3, he was a day from being euthanized, apostrophe, is fully visible but also close to the right edge with long lines. Blank. Bullet 4. Source text: We got him because I missed my former cat, Mr. Rogers. PowerPoint position: Part of this item extends outside the slide and is clipped. AI visibility: Partly visible or clipped. AI observation: Bullet 4. We got him because I missed my former cat, Mr. Rogers. Apostrophe is partly clipped at the bottom right. The last few words are cut off and unreadable.

56:36.702 --> 56:38.419
No Mr. Rogers in that one.

56:38.419 --> 56:45.574
So we're losing text. All right. We're losing text. That's what it's telling me. And here's the, here's the big one though.

56:45.574 --> 56:51.355
Bullet 5. Source text, he has become my little buddy. PowerPoint position, this item is outside the slide and cannot appear in the picture.

56:51.355 --> 56:54.583
So this slide is such a train wreck.

56:54.583 --> 56:55.354
No little buddy.

56:55.354 --> 57:15.170
That if you exported this to PowerPoint, you would get— this wouldn't even be on the slide. This entire 5th bullet wouldn't be on the slide. And the AI is good enough at this to be able to actually tell you stuff that wouldn't be seen on the slide.

57:15.170 --> 57:17.800
AI visibility, not visible.

57:17.800 --> 57:22.140
And you know, you could be presenting about it and you're talking through it and it's not there. And it's not there.

57:22.140 --> 57:23.800
And it's not even there and you don't know it. And it's not there,

57:23.800 --> 57:24.060
yeah.

57:24.060 --> 57:28.689
AI observation, bullet 5B has become my little buddy. Apostrophe is positioned fully outside the slide area and is not visible.

57:28.689 --> 57:31.120
Not a speck of it is on the slide.

57:31.120 --> 57:39.980
Blank. Image 1. AI visibility, complete and visible. AI observation, the image of the cat is fully visible on the left side, clear and well-framed with good effective resolution around 256 PPI.

57:40.356 --> 57:42.089
Well, you can see him. Great. That's good.

57:42.538 --> 57:48.683
We've probably done enough with this, but it really does show you how much detail can be provided.

57:49.036 --> 57:51.218
Copy report button. Close button. Alt C space list box alert.

57:51.363 --> 58:01.727
And honestly, what that tells you in a nutshell is this slide probably can't be rehabilitated. If you did anything like this, you should delete this and start again.

58:02.979 --> 58:07.744
Well, you can split it up and and you can have a video now of your little buddy.

58:08.273 --> 58:08.578
I could.

58:08.674 --> 58:12.479
Buying your shirt. And in real time and just play that while you're talking about it.

58:12.479 --> 58:26.417
And we do have the ability in the app to split slides if you want to do that. Nice. The only 2 things I want to show left are I just want to quickly go through the tabs. So I'm in the slide list now. I'm going to hit Shift+Tab.

58:26.417 --> 58:28.103
Presentation name edit. Slides tab.

58:28.103 --> 58:31.572
Now we're on the Slides tab and I'm going to hit my left arrow.

58:31.572 --> 58:32.712
Import tab selected.

58:32.712 --> 58:38.910
So here's our Import tab where we could bring in our Word files and our Markdown files and that kind of thing.

58:38.910 --> 58:39.825
Slides tab selected.

58:40.387 --> 58:53.885
This is the tab where we do most of our work. This is where the slides list go. This is where you create, edit, insert, all of those things with your slides. The second tab is really where you're going to be almost all the time.

58:54.125 --> 58:54.976
Styles tab selected.

58:55.506 --> 59:05.665
If you want to mess with the styles of a particular presentation, you can do that. There's a fully accessible and usable and really in-depth Styles tab here.

59:06.227 --> 59:07.141
Reading order tab selected.

59:07.141 --> 59:27.400
Reading order, for people who don't know, if you want to change the way assistive technology presents the information on a slide without changing the slide's visual layout, you can definitely do that by using the reading order tab, and that may be a feature we cover in a future and shorter demo.

59:27.400 --> 59:28.716
Results tab selected.

59:28.716 --> 01:00:09.780
And this 5th and final tab is the results tab. It's where I went when I did my Alt+Ctrl+Shift+W to look at my warnings. It's where all the reports go when they're generated. That's what all happens in this 5th tab. And now just as a final thing, I'm going to export this PowerPoint. If I wanted to get a report on what PowerPoint thought of this presentation, I would do what's called Export and Analyze. But since we know this presentation is a mess, I'm not going to bother with that here. I'm just going to export this to show that it will create the PowerPoint. So I'm going to hit Alt+F for my File menu.

01:00:09.780 --> 01:00:10.710
Alt+F menu bar.

01:00:10.710 --> 01:00:12.240
File. I'm going to down arrow.

01:00:12.240 --> 01:00:22.310
New presentation. Open project. New from template. Recent project. Save. Control+S. Save as. Save project. Import. Import Markdown. Import Word. Import PowerPoint. Preview slides. Restore project. Compare project. Close project. Export PowerPoint. Control+Shift+E.

01:00:22.310 --> 01:00:26.390
Okay, so Control+Shift+E would have taken me there, and I'm just going to hit Enter.

01:00:26.390 --> 01:00:32.010
Leaving menus. Results tab selected. Review before export dialog. Report read-only. Edit. Read this report using normal text navigation.

01:00:32.030 --> 01:00:35.350
This just gives me a report if I want to review it.

01:00:35.350 --> 01:00:37.240
Copy report button. Continue with these issues button.

01:00:37.290 --> 01:00:44.440
And this is showing me what the app thinks the issues are. We know there's a lot of them in this case. I'm just going to skip it.

01:00:44.670 --> 01:00:50.850
Space. Tab. Learning Blind Tech presentable results tab selected. Export PowerPoint dialog. File name. Edit combo. Learning Blind Tech. PPTX. Learning Blind Tech.

01:00:50.850 --> 01:01:00.470
It has the file name. It's just copying the project's file name. And because I set it up in the preferences, it knows where I want to save it. So I'm just going to hit Enter.

01:01:00.570 --> 01:01:02.190
Enter. Tab. Learning Blind Tech PowerPoint file saved. Tab. Learning Blind Tech presentable results tab selected.

01:01:03.774 --> 01:01:10.442
Now it said saved. We have a keystroke, Alt+Ctrl+O, that will open this PowerPoint from directly in the app.

01:01:10.844 --> 01:01:16.725
Alt+Ctrl+O. Opening PowerPoint. Opening PowerPoint. Learning Line Tech. PPTX PowerPoint workspace. Slide. Slide 1. Learning Line Tech.

01:01:17.416 --> 01:01:25.851
And now for a few seconds, we can all be reminded of how much we hate PowerPoint. I don't even know where my focus is in here. So

01:01:26.044 --> 01:01:27.153
slideshow view all the way.

01:01:27.619 --> 01:01:34.334
I'm gonna hit Actually, that's not a bad idea. Maybe we'll just do that. I'm gonna hit F5.

01:01:34.560 --> 01:01:37.745
F5. PowerPoint slideshow learning slide.

01:01:37.971 --> 01:01:38.521
And here we go.

01:01:38.844 --> 01:01:39.363
Learning blind tech.

01:01:39.526 --> 01:01:44.774
Okay, that's my first, my first slide, my title slide. I'm gonna advance it with spacebar.

01:01:45.510 --> 01:01:45.880
Bulleted slide.

01:01:46.186 --> 01:01:46.427
Yep.

01:01:46.750 --> 01:01:50.212
List of 3 items. Bullet third bullet. Bullet second bullet. Bullet first bullet.

01:01:50.357 --> 01:02:00.325
And you can see here that it, it did create a PowerPoint presentation with the bullets in the weird order, the reverse, with 1 and 3 being reversed. I'm going to hit space.

01:02:01.575 --> 01:02:09.414
Slide 3. Image, text, image, text. List of 2 items. Bullet. Yo-Yo is my cat. Bullet. Loves to give me clawings. List end. Close-up of a tabby cat's face with large yellow eyes, prominent whiskers, and striped fur lying on the green fact sheet.

01:02:09.590 --> 01:02:22.895
And there's our slide. I don't think we have to waste much more time with this. It was just to show people that it's here, that it does work. It will put out exactly what you put into Presentable will be regurgitated into this PowerPoint.

01:02:23.280 --> 01:02:25.797
So if it's accessible, you'll have an accessible PowerPoint.

01:02:26.005 --> 01:02:35.321
You will. And we know this presentation is deliberately not accessible, so I'm not I'm not going to go any further with this. Thank you for giving me the time.

01:02:35.321 --> 01:02:47.648
Absolutely. And we'll come back because I want to talk about rehearsal mode and all of the other great things up and coming that are there and that will be coming up sometime. So this is definitely just the beginning of the fun.

01:02:47.648 --> 01:02:48.692
No question.

01:02:48.692 --> 01:02:51.449
Thank you so much for showing us all of this stuff.

01:02:51.449 --> 01:02:51.904
Bye.

01:02:51.904 --> 01:03:06.619
Bye. High schools, we're seeing hearts beating and believing. Together we're achieving, no hurdles deceiving. Tizz arrays reading all the knowledge we're feeding. Laughing while we're reading, this tech quest succeeding.
