And then that night, she lives next to a building that's under construction. Maybe they don't make I feel like that's universal. And while he's out surfing, we see a bunch of other guys running around on jet skis being assholes. You know, like the ones with fireworks. Moral of the story, don't be an asshole. And now we see them goofing around, and one does, like, a flip on the jet ski, and then we just see another one all of a sudden disappear. We see the Jesse fly out, and him not on it anymore, and turns out he's drowning. So monato is back on the beach, shaking off, getting ready to text to nako, and he hears the guy drowning. He's like, well, fighting coastal patrol. Got to go out there and save them. So it goes out with the surf warden, goes to save the dude. And then we see hanako goes to meet up with them after work, and she's in her wetsuit and ready to surf because it's supposed to be good waves after the snow, so it's all snowy on the beach and stuff and kind of dreary. And as she approaches the beach, she sees a bunch of emergency vehicles on there, like a bunch of an ambulance and suvs with emergency lights on them. And we see the divers searching for a body, like an inflatable raft. And we see Menardo's board broken in half. She calls his phone and he yells at him for not being oh, right, yeah. hanako gets his phone and calls it and goes right to voicemail because he's dead. And she starts yelling at him, saying, like, he promised he would always be with her forever and always be by her side. And he's going back on this promise now. And then we cut to hanako, another next day or another day meeting up with her friends. She kind of alluded to her friends earlier in the movie and how they're similar to his sister where they're kind of like sharp tongue and a little cynical. But we see her with her friends and they're giving her, I guess, just at the university buying her like, some food. They buy an egg sandwich and some water and as soon as she sees both of those or coffee. As soon as she sees both of those, she's instantly reminded of their first date and starts getting upset again. She's been trying to figure out the passcode to his phone and can't get in. So they're trying to give suggestions of what it might be like his birthday, your birthday, something special. And she's like, oh, I don't know, why don't we meet up with Saudi? He might have some ideas. He might be cool to hang out with. I don't know, we just hang out with him. Nothing important. baku so they end up going to the cafe, which is the former employee of the first cafe we saw with like the dumb waiter inside. And that one's like old and wooden and stuff. And this one's pretty much the exact same, but modern and metal and everything. And after Hanaka tries to see her yeah, she tries to see minato in, like, various forms of water. So we see her out at a mall or bookstore with her friends, and he appears like it's raining outside, and it's raining on the glass rooftop. And she sees him up there, but no one else does. And just, like, a pond in the water here and there. So she starts seeing him more and more, and she starts realizing that she sees him when she's singing their song. So she's out on a bridge one day, like, over top of a stream, and she starts singing the song, and a pillar of water rises up. Does she throw his phone? And at home, she talks staminato in a glass of water. And he says he'll always be by her side, like he promised. Whenever he calls, she calls for him, which is by singing their song. And hanako tells him that everyone's doing well. And then she's like, oh, hey, by the way, what's your phone's passcode to get in? And he says he always, yeah, my notes are all over place. She asked for his passcode, and she wants to know why he went surfing by himself. Because that's dangerous to do. Because of exactly what happens. You can drown, or even if you're the best swimmer, a riptide can take you out. And he tells her that he was practicing in secret so he could surprise her one day and just like, he wouldn't be holding her back so they could serve together at the same skill level.
