For years now. I think the oldest recording I have is 2017 or 2018 and I suspect I've used this application before then but deleted content. I've used a tool that allows me to easily capture recordings no matter what Apple device I have with me. This application is called just press record and it's available on the iPhone, Apple Watch and on the Mac. If you're a Mac user, just press record allows you to do just that. Press record to capture a recording from around you. The application is a pretty simple interface. We'll go over the iPhone and the Apple Watch. I don't have a Mac handy, but I think if I recall right, the interface looks fairly similar on the iPhone. When you press on just press record, the very first thing that pops up is a list of your most recent reportings. Now I'll show you how to configure this a little bit so you can make that a little bit easier to just press record and capture the audio that you need. But by default, if you open the just press record, you have the recents tab displayed on screen and a tab bar across the bottom. The tab bar includes, from left to right, recent, browse, record, search and watch. Now the recents tab is what's selected and if you need to capture a recording, you simply tap the record button in the center bottom of the screen. Directly above the watch tab on the far right hand side is the settings and in settings you can go in and change what microphone the just press record application uses. You can pick what file format just press record saves in the sample rate that you record in bit depth. And even if you want to use the stereo microphones available on the iPhone, theres a few other settings that you can pick from by default. JPR or just press record will save your audio recordings in iCloud under a just press record year month day formatted folder in an AAC file format. Once youve configured justpress record, all you need to do moving forward is open the justpress record app. Hit the record button in the bottom middle of the screen. Youll hear a subtle beep and then youll be recording two finger double tap to stop the recording or double tap in the middle of the screen and this will also stop it. A really cool thing about just press record is if you don't want to find that record button in the bottom center of the screen, anywhere within the application you can two finger double tap and this will play the subtle beep and start your recording. So that's a faster way to be able to capture recordings. But what if you don't even want to pull out your phone? I use just press record on my watch quite regularly with a complication in the lower left hand corner of my main watch screen. When you press on the just press record complication, or if you split tap on it, the just press record application opens and it starts your recording right then you don't have to do anything else. Locate the pause or stop button to stop the recording. At that point, the file is then added to your iCloud and you're able to access that recording from your app or file. Explore if you're using windows with the iCloud control panel or by pressing command shift I in the finder on Mac, just press record also gives you the ability to automatically transcribe short audios. And if you have a longer audio, you can go in there and have it auto transcribed as well. If you're looking for an application that allows you the ability to quickly just press record, check out just press record. I think it's like $5 on the app store and well worth the investment. Although I will say voice memos isn't bad either.

Hey all, Marty here. And today I'm going to be talking to you about control center. Control center is the place where you have a whole bunch of small utilities to be able to make things easier. For example, you can do music recognition. You can have a calculator there, you can have a flashlight there. There's all kinds of cool utilities to search for in there and things that you can add or take away. It's very customizable. If you want to access the control center with voiceover, what you would need to do is place the voiceover cursor all the way in the top menu so it could be on the time, it could be on the battery level, anything up there. And then what you do is do a three finger swipe up and then the control center will open. At first glance you're going to see airplane. And the airplane is like for airplane mode if you're flying. And then you'll also have Bluetooth and Wi fi if you want to turn those on or off. You can do that right there. It has multimedia controls to be able to play or pause music. Go to the next song or the previous song so you can do all of those things. Then at the bottom there is a bunch of blank squares that you can either add something to it or remove something from it. They give you a few to start with, like the flashlight is there and a few other things. Now say you want to remove some of those and make room for other utilities that you may want to have there. You can definitely do that. And the way you do that is you go to settings, then control center. Once there, then you will see there's two halves. On the top half is all of the things that are currently on the control center. The bottom half are things that are available but not on the control center. You can definitely mix and match and you'll see that you can remove items from the top and it will be removed from the control center. You can also so go to the bottom and you could add something to the top list and then whatever you've added will show up in your control center. Give it a try and see how you're able to customize your control center. Pretty cool stuff. And enjoy.

I'm quite enamored with my Magsafe charger that just came with my new MacBook Air M three. I know there's no consequence of things becoming disconnected and the laptop falling off the desk. And so I thought to myself, I wonder if there are such cables for our other devices. And I have heard of magnetic cables in some of our specialist products like the Victor reader. And so I thought I'd do a little research. And so the fun part of doing research is that I get to buy a few things and test them out for you, the listener. Yes. So I have tested out four magnetic charging cables with their various tips, and I wanted to share my results with you. So the first one, and I got these all on Amazon and my favorite shopping site. My first cable is likely pronounced anmone or anmone. There's a couple of these that have different sounding names that I hope I'm getting right. It's a n m o n e. So this one is a magnetic charging cable. It's $16.99. It comes with four cables, actually, and there are two three foot cables and two six foot cables. And a lot of these cables are similar. But I will point out the differences for you. What they basically have is that apart from the cable, there are these tiny little magnetic tips, and you've got to be careful not to lose them. If you have pets, you know, make sure they're not on the floor. It couldn't get swallowed, or small children don't need to be handling them. So anyway, these cables, they have the magnetic end, and then they have the tip that fastens onto that magnetic part. So this one, this anmoan one, it has a connector on the side of the end of the tip so that it connects to your device at a right angle. So that's different. It's the only cable, I believe, that does that, that I reviewed, and it comes with four micro tips and four type c tips. And the thing to know about these tips, they're really, really teeny tiny, but the micro tips do not have really super prominent little nubbies on them. You have to really feel carefully. So if you happen to have some loss of sensitivity in your fingers, you might want to find a way of separating these little guys so that it's clear to you which ones they are. And the idea is that you would put the tip in the charge port of your device and just leave it there, and then you could just snap the cable on. And, and these have pretty good magnetic strength. And a lot of times people say this eliminates maybe dust getting into your port, but you always have the little tip in there, and you can always just snap on a cable. And it doesn't matter which cable, as long as it's supported by the manufacturer, because you already have the right tip in your port. So the reviewers say that this only supports normal charging speed. No data transfer. That's mentioned several times by the vendor on Amazon. And it has a little led light for locating in the dark, in case any of us can do that. And so it, you know, big deal out of no fast charging, no data transfer, the connector, the little tips, they have a little tiny stub on the end that fits into the little tiny hole, the end of the charging cable. Most of these come with a six or 6.5 foot cable as well as a three foot cable. I haven't found any that are shorter than that. Generally, they're three or 6ft. The next type of cable with magnetic tips is another one that I hope I don't butcher the pronunciation of Raiolsky. R A O S K Y. So this came to me with a 6.5 foot cable, and there was a type c tip included. Now, the thing that's different about this one is that the head of the cable swivels back and forth in one plane, left to right. And so that's, that's pretty neat, because no matter how you position your device, you get a little bit more flexibility because the head swivels from left to right. It has, the tips have the little stub that fits into the small hole on the end of the cable. So the next one is by a company called Statik. It is spelled Statik. And this one is called a 365 Pro. Three in one charging cable. It is $19.99 on Amazon. And they're all roughly about the same price except for the last one that I'm going to review because it has a lot more features. It mentions that it is a ten watt small device charger cable, and it does mention compatibility with Apple products like the iPhone 15 and previous models. The magnetic head of this cable does swivel back and forth from left to right, and it has an led light up feature. It comes with connector tips including lightning, micro and USB C. Most of these come with those and the tips. The different thing about these tips is that they're flat on one end, so that the tip that connects to the magnetic cable is slightly raised. And so this little round flat piece fits into the depression or divot on the cable end. It's needed to be used with a quick charge QC three block. One reviewer said that old blocks don't work, and there were mixed reviews as far as the connector staying in place. And so the takeaway is make sure that you have the right block for the cable. My favorite one I've left till last, and it's by a company I have heard of before, Magnalink. It's always nice when you've heard of the company before. This setup costs $28, so it's the most expensive of the options. But the cool thing is, is that it has a lot of capability. So it comes with two cables. It supports 100 watt charging. It has superior data transfer at 480 megabits per second, which this is the only cable that does data transfer. And the three tips, one each of micro, USB C and lightning. There is also a USB C to USB A adapter because the end of this cable and all these cables are braided. Nice feeling cables. By the way, the end of this particular cable is a USB C end. So that's different too, about this cable than the others. The others have the USB A, and so it comes with an adapter. And there's also a couple of tip holders. So they have little slots, these little tip holders that you can put all of your tips in so you don't lose them. And then there's a little velcro tie. There is on the end of the cable, it has the normal little divot or depression, and then the little round tip fits into that little tiny depression. The cable does swivel back and forth in that plane from left to right. And also the magnetic tip turns easily on the cable head. And so it's, it says 360 degrees, which means that it's turns easily on the cable head. But the cable head itself that's attached to the cable, the magnetic part, it only turns from left to right, so you have that swiveling capability. So if I had to buy a set of these, and, well, again, I would choose the magnalink. It is the most expensive, coming in at $28, but it comes with the most features, and it's a company that I have heard of before. And also it tends to have a really. It has a good rating, and the cable and the tips really work well together. And then I also wouldn't have to wonder if I could do data charging. And at this point, I have not connected my braille device to my computer to see if there is data transfer back and forth. But I trust them that there is, and that is the one that I would purchase. So I think these are great choices for people who want not to worry about what cable they've got and if they got all the right things and so forth. Just put the tip in the port of your device, and then have the proper cable that goes with your set, have a few of those around, and then you never have to worry the ear without the cable that you need.
