Mouth exclaiming into a microphone. And there's little sound triangles coming from the mouth. And we took the sound triangles and we expanded them ten inches all across the chest of the print. On the top triangle in a very clean font, and 3d tactile ink is the word unmute, and the triangle is metallic silver. And underneath the second triangle says in a font that's called rock. So it's kind of a cool, edgy font, and 3d tactile ink is the word be heard.

Hello, everyone. Today, I want to share a music related app with you. A very long time ago, I was trained as a classical pianist, and one of the things my teachers wanted me to do was to practice with a metronome. You know that thing that goes tick, tick, tick, tick, and you can set it to be various beats per minute, and it helps people practice in such a way that they can gradually increase their speed and stay in time. So in those days, say, I don't know, 40 years ago, we had actual physical devices with a little pendulum that swung back and forth. And then in time, we had a little electronic things where you twist a dial and you had to learn, if you couldn't see the dial, how many beats per minute you were increasing with each click. And so fast forward then to the advent of the iPhone. And of course, the answer is, there's an app for that. So when I teach students braille music in my work, as I occasionally do, they will ask me about an accessible metronome. And so I would like to share that with you today. This app is called tempo perfect, and it's all one word. T E M p o p e r f e c t. So we have in the upper left corner a little thing that was not very intelligible by voiceover.

02:28.318 --> 02:29.054
Tempo perfect.

02:29.102 --> 02:30.206
Click the logo button.

02:30.278 --> 02:45.228
That little logo button, it's actually the logo of NCH software who makes the app. And so that's what that button is in the upper left corner. It doesn't do anything. It's just the little logo that they have, and it's actually the c of the NCH software.

02:45.374 --> 02:46.816
Tempo perfect heading.

02:46.928 --> 02:48.672
This is the heading of the screen.

02:48.816 --> 02:49.696
Play button.

02:49.768 --> 03:00.700
There's the play button. So the play button will be in the upper right corner. And I'll just double tap on the play button and have you hear what we've got here.

03:01.320 --> 03:13.316
Play pause button. Pause play button.

03:13.428 --> 03:45.302
So the high pitched click is the beginning or downbeat of the measure. And the other three beats are a little bit lower of a click. So then you have three little pieces of text that are above each of the things in this app that you can set. So if I swipe right tempo, there's the tempo, that's your beats per minute underneath that.

03:45.366 --> 03:47.214
92 picker item adjustable.

03:47.302 --> 04:14.982
83 of 271 is the 92. So we have it set to 92 beats per minute. Then we are going to touch that again. Subdiv measure, measure. Okay, measure is the next label and it would be how many beats per measure. Then we have subdiv subdivision subdiv. How are you going to divide those beats up? Okay.

04:15.126 --> 04:19.902
And then 92 picker item adjustable. 83 of 271.

04:19.966 --> 04:30.216
So just thinking about each of those labels is directly above the picker item that you can adjust. So I have it set to 92 here. And if I swipe right, four picker.

04:30.248 --> 04:32.064
Item adjustable for a twelve.

04:32.192 --> 04:43.424
I have four beats per measure. You can have twelve beats per measure is your highest number here. And then none.

04:43.472 --> 04:44.696
Picker item adjustable.

04:44.768 --> 04:54.936
One of each my subdivisions. So in other words, I'm not dividing up the beats at all. But if I were to divide the beads, I could swipe up on this.

04:54.968 --> 04:57.032
Picker two, two of eight.

04:57.176 --> 05:00.768
And now each beat is going to be divided into two.

05:00.864 --> 05:07.780
So we'll play button play button play pause button.

05:15.280 --> 05:20.696
So every play button beat is divided into two. You could get really fancy.

05:20.768 --> 05:24.752
And four picker item two picker item a three, three of eight, four four.

05:24.776 --> 05:29.202
Of eight by into four subdivisions for.

05:29.266 --> 05:34.510
Beat, play button play pause button.

05:36.210 --> 05:37.346
And so forth.

05:37.538 --> 05:37.914
Play.

05:37.962 --> 06:19.020
If you're a musical person, you might know that those are your 16th notes. So it's pretty handy. It's extremely accessible. That is really all there is to it. Just the logo in the top corner, the top left, and then the the name of the app. And then you have the labels for tempo, measure how many beats per measure and then your subdivisions per beat. And so that is the tempo perfect app by NCh software. And stay tuned, pun intended, to see if there's an Android app next week. I'll give you an update. Thanks so much for listening.

Hey all, Marty here. And today I'm going to be talking with you about dark mode for iPhone and iOS iPad. First, let's talk about what dark mode is. Dark mode is a setting that you turn on and it changes everything to a black background with a white text. When you do not have dark mode on, you have a white background with black text. To turn this on or off, what you would do is go to settings, display and brightness. And then there you're going to see three settings. The first setting is going to be regular mode, light mode it's called. And then you're going to see dark mode, which then changes your phone to a black background with white text in as many places as it possibly can. And I'll come back and discuss this in a second. The third option is automatic. So light mode is exactly what you think it is. It really doesn't change anything. It's the standard white background with black text and everything just does what it normally does without changing any settings. Dark mode obviously changes everything to a black background with white text in as many places as it possibly can. So what that means is, for the most part, any stock app that comes on your phone will switch into dark mode automatically when you turn on dark mode. Now, these are only the stock apps on your phone. You know, messages, mail, things like that. Third party apps will only do this if the developer builds it into the app. Otherwise, there's not every third party app out there that automatically goes into dark mode or has a dark mode option. The next option is going to be automatic and that kind of turns on or off dark mode. When it's off, it's in light mode, and when it's on, it's in dark mode. And your phone kind of decides when it thinks to be in light mode or when it thinks it needs to be in dark mode, depending on the kind of lighting that is around you, whether you're inside, outside, anything like that. For the most part it works really well. But if you have bad lighting, if you're inside someplace, it may switch it one way or the other depending on the lighting situation. Other things to think about are background, like on your home screen or anything like that. If you want to have that in dark mode, you could do a couple of things. You can go into wallpapers and they do have backgrounds that are set for both light mode, which would be a brighter, more vibrant wallpaper, or you can choose a dark mode wallpaper that is more set up in a darker, you know, deeper colors so that it's not blaring out that white, kind of super bright lighting like it does when you're in light mode. Another thing that you can do is just pick a solid color. You know, you can just do a solid black background and just go with that, sometimes that's easier. It makes the icons on your screen a lot more contrasty. Light mode, you could just do all white background or wallpaper if you wanted to, and that would be the opposite. It would be super bright in the background and then it would kind of revert all of the icons to the best looking icons that would look on the white background. Now, this is all preference depending on your vision. And you know, some people, they see things much, much better with a white background, and other people see things much, much better with a dark background. It's all just a preference and whatever works best for you. Now, going back into the settings and then going to the brightness, or it's called display and brightness, there you will see a couple of other settings that you can mess around with. For example, you can turn on bold text, and bold text helps make your fonts and your text pop a little bit more. If you just need a little bit stronger text, then that's a great thing to turn on. It just works all across your device once you turn it on, and it kind of just does that throughout the whole device. It's a great thing for people who have low vision, and it works well whether you're in light mode or dark mode, there's a few other settings in there that you can mess around with and play with and see what works best for you. Now I want to come back and talk about Safari. Safari will not change automatically into dark mode when you have dark mode turned on. If you want safari to be in dark mode, you need to use what's called a safari extension. The one that I've been using is called Noir. It's spelled Noir. And basically you can get that from the app store. You download it, and then you install it into your safari, and then it will give your Safari dark mode. So everything with a black background essentially. And for the most part, it works really great if that's something that you want to do. Not everybody wants to do that, but if you're really into the dark mode thing, the system currently in this iteration of the operating system doesn't change Safari into dark mode. So you will have to get a safari extension. And that would be the one that I would recommend. I've had good success with it and it works well. So give that a try if you want to have Safari in dark mode, and that is dark mode. So check it out and good luck and mess around with all the settings, see what works best for you, and we'll see you next time.

The ring doorbell is a rectangle box that you wire into the wall on the outside of your door. This is a video doorbell which allows you to communicate with the person who is at your door ringing the doorbell. All you need to do is wire the Ring doorbell into your electrical system so it has electricity and then connect it using the Ring app that you can download in the app store or Google Play store. One thing to be aware of is if you move into a rental, for example, and you have a ring doorbell, you'll need to find a hexen screw, I think it might be called a star screw, and unscrew the screw on the bottom of the rectangle. When you do that, you're able to pop the plastic off of the ring doorbell and then there's a five digit code that you can access to add the Ring doorbell to your Ring account. One of the perks of the Ring doorbell is if you're in the Amazon ecosystem using you can connect it to your Amazon account and when someone presses the button on the ring doorbell, it will notify you that there is someone at the door. You can then communicate with that person at the door and have a two way conversation. And actually, the audio doesn't sound horrible. If you're not an esplanade user, then you can set up the ring app on your iPhone or Android. You'll receive a notification when someone's at your door and you can tap into that notification and start communicating with them either by listening or listening and speaking to the person when someone rings your doorbell. If you have the app on your phone, it will also ring your app so you can tap into it and again communicate with that person. There are presets for the ring doorbell that you can tell people, hey, we're out barbecuing, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We do not pay for the monthly ring service. However, it is available if you are interested in people maybe leaving messages for you on your Ring doorbell. If you're looking for an easy to use and fairly accessible video doorbell system, check out the ring doorbell and I'll be back in the not too distant future to talk about a different doorbell because I think we're going to return this to the previous renters and pick up a eufy doorbell. Do you have any feedback on that? Send us an email feedback unmute, show.
